Its a 5! My favorite Elton Album and one my favorite albums period. I was a junior in HIgh School when this came out. I still play the LP today. Every song is a winner!
AMAZING! Tumbleweed Connection is one of my favorite Elton's albums! At first I thought this version was too slow, but after hearing it to the end I was amazed!
I love anything that strips it down to Elton and the piano, simple as that. Just doesn't get any better for me. This is awesomely lovely, thank you so much! :-)
Absolutely...I was a college freshamn but just 16, and my baby-hippie imagination wrapped its legs around this album and never let go. This is soul-rock, and reverence for history and humanity (and foggy/haunting lyrics and melodies) that haven't been equalled in pop music history...thanks for expressing!
Elton was just playing the piano and singing solo and he created this extraordinarily beautiful and timeless melody. I have often wondered what the producers in the studio thought when they saw and heard him perform music like this for the first time.
@kpw11985 Yes Elton and Bernie were magic in those early years, and imagine if all the great songs could somehow have been condensed into 1 album per year, each then would have been an absolute masterpiece; Elton was almost too prolific for his own good
What a voice. It is interesting to hear how the chords were altered in the final LP version. (Where the hell do you find these demos??) :) I have posted a cover version of this on my channel....
