I'm glad you chose Galadriel as the commander rather than Elrond. while E might be a more logical choice, Galadriel is the more challenging one. :-) very good video. :-)
Love your guides so much! I'm building a Galadriel, Light of Valinor (The Bant one) on top of the precon. Rumor Gatherer, Rhys, the Redeemed, Drizzt Do'urden, Swords to Plowshares, Austere Command Generous Gift are all very welcome
Great video! I'll definitely consider building this deck. I was leaning building a scry elf deck using the other Galadriel card (Galadriel of lothlorien). If you have any tips how to build a fun and somewhat competitive edh deck around that commander, I'd greatly appreciate any insight you may have. Thanks in advance!
Looking forward to the Mordor deck. It'll be interesting to see where you take it, I went mass "summon army" cards and sprinkled in some from war of the spark.
Saving the best for last with Grixis I see haha. Thanks for being to on top of these builds Grazzet. Love your brews and appreciate having them right on time for release. Appreciate you!
You're the first person I've seen with a take on this precon that I agree with. I think this is easily the worst of the 4 decks out of the box. Well done trying to salvage it!
It wasn't easy but I think this deck now performs pretty good overall. That said, not sure my it was released in such a sub-optimal state when compared to the other decks - which were at least tuned.
@@GrazzetMTG Tht's fair, Ive just seen so many people talking about how good this particular deck is and a few even said was the best of the group, and that just made no sense to me. Maybe it's my bias towards not liking this representation of the Tolkein Elves. There's nothing about them that feels connected to his writing.
Really excited about the Sauron deck, you have been making these videos really fast. I am almost wondering if its more worth to play the Sauron from the set instead of the precon but I'm excited to see either way
Still the best deck channel on RU-vid! Id love to see your take on legolas master archer with fight cards to start sniping creatures and going for game!
Thank you for the high praise! Legolas, Master Archer would be a interesting "Spot Removal Tribal" / Voltron style build - so I'll see what I can do to get him on a future poll!
@@GrazzetMTG I think so as well. For example cards like whip silk would be repeatable and using stuffy doll to redirect would just seem like a lot of fun
hey grazzet tyvm for this guide! do you think upgrading this precon limited within the LOTR set would be possible to bring it up to the powerlevel of the other 3 precons? i feel like the elfen precon is by far the least powerfull... after playing some games with them they never seemed to do much at all which is a shame... i would love to have all 4 precons on a similar powerlevel to play lotr magic with my friends
Elven Council seems to take a very controlled route as an Elf Precon compared to its Kaladiem (If Im right) Green Black Counterpart which is very Aggro.
Bonjour !
Getting back into Magic, after like 10 years away. Bought this precon... Ordered a lot of these cards to make these modifications. Probably going to make the deck slightly worse by trying to sneak in my old favorite Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger though 😂
Hey Grazzet, this is my first time commenting on your channel, was very much looking forward to this video, it helped me turn this precon around, love your videos, I have upgraded some of my precons following your guides and they worked very well. I do have an idea and was wondering your opinion, what do you thing about switching out Asceticism for Elven Chorus?
Thanks for the comment and glad to hear that guide helped you improve on this deck! Regarding your question - while I think Elven Chorus is a fine card for the card advantage and ramp it provides - Asceticism is just too good to swap out in my opinion, since it shores up Elfball's weakness of being picked apart by spot removal and wipes. If you do want to add it in however, I would recommend looking at switching out Cirdan the Shipwright for it, since they both provide card advantage and Elven Chorus is less symmetrical.
New to the game and your channel. Are there cards that allow the ring to tempt you? I like that this upgrade is very cheap. As I really like this deck and wouldn't want to spend a ton into improving it. Also, as a side note. I really liked playing warlock in hearthstone (card advantage, late game control). Do you think there's a similar precon? (preferably LOTR themed).
Glad you enjoyed it! The following link should contain all the cards that have the text "the ring tempts you" in its rules text - scryfall.com/search?as=grid&order=name&q=oracle%3A%22the+ring+tempts+you%22+%28game%3Apaper%29 As far as a more control heavy LOTR build, I would say that the Hosts of Mordor precon may be what your looking for. Its slow, but Grixis (Blue, Black, Red) has a LOT of good draw options and the gameplan of the deck it to cheat in big, high impact creatures by reanimating them from the graveyard. Lots of value to be had there and I made a precon upgrade guide for it too to make it even nastier (Maybe a bit too nasty with some of its new inclusions...). Hope that helps!
You weren’t kidding about the jank pile on the og precon- I was trying to see if it was possible to make it into a “ring tempts you” focused deck and there’s only like 4 cards that are relevant
King of the Oathbreakers certainly looks like a fun build around for a spirit self targeting deck - so I'll see what I can do about putting him on a upcoming poll!
Fair enough! Galadriel of Lothlorien if certainly an interesting build around and we certainly did get a lot of Scry support from this set, so I can see a build featuring it doing very well (especially since she can ramp us multiple times per turn).
I don't think so with this build. Here almost all the scry support was cut (with a reason), so I think you should do a different take with Scry Galadriel.
I think sometimes like in this case, it would have been better to just choose another commander in the commander and go from there. The effect is just not enticing enough Maybe Im wrong. It was cool to see you try to salvage this one
Yeah, I would say that you may have a point there but Simic Leaf tribal really only has 1 other real option and that's Ezuri, Claw of Progress - whose playstyle actually makes Elf Lords a non-bo for him since it will prevent his ability from procing - making it a very different build overall. Still, I do wholeheartedly agree that Galadriel, Elven Queen is a bit weak when compared to other busted Simic commanders we've seen in the past - so maybe they just over corrected here....
3 minutes in and Grazz is really not digging this deck at all. Just had to wait a minute - "Now that I've complained how janky this deck is out the box..." Subtle. Simic Elfball; now you have my attention! I'll dub this build "Galadriel, when diplomacy fails"
Thanks for the feedback! Despite what it sounds like, it is actually me recording here (some folks do think its AI generated due to m voice just being very mono-tone) and that silence us there to remove the breathes that I normally take between recording lines - which end up being a bit more distracting than the silences would be (in my opinion). Still, I am working to improve my recording and audio editing setup to improve the speed and efficacy at which I am able to do these, so your feedback is appreciated!
@@GrazzetMTG no problem the content is good for sure if you remove the silences entirely instead of muting it would flow better it's the editing flow called truncating silence
in lotr set, flavor should be way more important than gameplay. I can't believe how difficult it is to find a video with upgrades only from lotr collection. If i wanted to fill my deck with cards from other collections, I wouldn't have bought such a weak commanders deck. I find it appalling that youtubers don't seem to understand that. -1 for you
Out of the 4 LotR precons? Yeah, hands down. Of all time? Its certainly in contention in regards to playability but the very solid reprints it has may just keep it from being the bottom of the barrel in my opinion.
