On the isle of Evermeet, which was created by the first sundering, exists the remnants of the elves once great empire. There the various elven sub-races live under the rule of the Royal Council, but once upon a time Evermeet was ruled over by the Moonflower dynasty, namely King Zaor and Queen Amlaruil Moonflower. A moon elf clan of proud honorable warriors and wise high mages. Though not all in Evermeet were happy being ruled by Moon elves, particularly a Sun elf clan that shall not be named. And so an assassination plot was hatched, one which laid low King Zaor and several of his children. Queen Amlaruil had survived though, and for a time lead her people through the troubling times to come, but such a loss had left her heart broken, this gave her the nickname the Sad Queen. After the time of the spell plague the Sad Queen disappeared, leaving behind her relics of office... How do I know this you may ask? Well that's a story for another time my young elflings, my bones are old and I tire easily these, let this old sage rest a while and maybe I'll tell you. -Zandro M.
That was a great video! As someone who is brand new to D&D, I've found it hard to find good information on sun elves, which is the subrace of my first character. I'd love to watch if you did a video on all the groups of high elves! Consider this an official request :)
As someone who played a ton of paper growing up but has mostly stayed in touch through books and games since I love the content you put out. 👍 One small thing, the bright white background as any other color or backdrop would be an improvement imo.
I always loved DnD wood elves since they seem to be heavily inspired by "Highland Fairies" common in the Balkans and Eastern europe vs the Standard holier than thou elves.
Re experiencing trauma in sleep for the rest of their lives sure sounds like PTSD so not actually an elven exclusive in any manner. Especially since by like level 5 to 8 realistically every d and d character has PTSD in multiple occurrences likely(but a huge lack of forgotten realms mental health care).
As a doctor this comment makes me very happy. Hopefully they either increase their psionics schools or a lot more spell-casters are going to need to learn modify memory!

Or being transported through time and space to be brought before a demon lord in hell has to be pretty tramautic. Which makes me wonder if the average murder hobo party isn't just raising awareness on the lack of mental health care available. Or they just want shiny prizes. The former could be an interesting premise for a campaign.

I played a night elf rogue till northrend came out. It inspired my own lore for my illustrated novel series "Chronicles of Alkaya" my character Jaypar Prakkari is a lunar elf/avariel elf he was born without wings, rogue assassin that can shadow jump with umbrakinesis and bend the light around him with cloaking photokinesis. He's not as tall as a night elf only 6'4" 200lbs he's got dark hair cut like the goblin king jareth. He's got glowing green eyes that are adapted to seeing in the dark. In book four in my series "Alkaya: the lightening strikes at night" we follow jaypar on his mission to the darkside of the moon. First he must find the lunar saber or sword of truth an ancient alkayan artifact hidden on mt everest. When he finds the saber he holds it above his head and he's struck by a bolt of ultraviolet lightening and is instantly transported to the palace of the white witch/shadow priestess on the darkside of the moon. She trains jaypar how to use glamour magick and he becomes a Glamancer aka the westside wizard. With her help he finds the air temple to battle the gargoyle king the lunar saber is the only blade sharp enough to cut his flesh. After defeating the king he recovers the air Empyro a biomechanical symbiotic suit of armor that adjusts to conform to the host and is imbued with the elemental power aerokinesis. Think venom meets iron man meets the last airbender. There are three other Empyros that we find in the previous books book one the earth book Alkaya: the legend of Empyro you can find on amazon we find the earth empyro in south America. Alkaya is a parallel world of earth so the geography and names for places are the same. The host for the geo empyro is my younger brothers character bantam bumeril the wood elf demon hunter. The second book Alkaya: The rising tide follows my older brothers character Ferrick Vatten the whale man warrior on his mission to the water temple in the Mariana trench. The third book Alkaya: the wyldfyre follows Kolobar Avlossa the lion manimal pyromancer shaman to the fire temple located at mt. Hood oregon. The fifth book Alkaya: the holy light follows Sabria Masue the high elf holy paladin she discovers there's a fifth Empyro hidden in Egypt that enhances her photokinesis abilities. She's the heals and gets the team together she must solve the riddle of the sphinx. The sixth book Alkaya: the enveloping shadow follows Arnvatta the dark elf repticon and lead singer of dressed for genocide, as he steals an Empyro and they mimic the Empyros technology creating the shadow suit and synth empyros granting enhanced umbrakinesis. The last book in the series is book seven Alkaya: The immortal spirit. After our heroes save their realm from the great shadow dragon Lucifer they decide their work isn't done so they decide to save the multiverse by falling through the void. They end up on earth with their memories erased. Jaypar is the only one whos memories are triggered by different symbols in their realm. When i turned 16 i had a kundalini awakening the doctors called it a manic episode but i knew it was a spiritual emergence and remembered my life in Alkaya. Book seven is almost autobiographical because i talk about my experiences being hospitalized and waking up to my true potential finding the Empyros and save earth from reptilian fascists. Finally a youtuber that doesn't just say to create a character that acts nothing like the racial descriptions. Basically making a human that just looks like an elf or gnome, etc
Like you get what I mean? Lol like yea play what you want. But I hear that dark elves are evil. I haven't met a single evil dark elf player. Or a dumb or angry orc. Or cleric that is limited to his patrons weapon. Like it seriously makes the class and race descriptions not matter. When every single player and youtuber decides not to follow the description. Like not just races, but people change things about the classes as well. And it just makes no sense to me
@@sonic-bb I mean, I agree but in my experience a lot of groups won't play into the lore either, so what can you do? I play a half-drow who was raised by humans, so he's not "evil", but I pointed out to the DM that he looks like a drow (and it is Forgotten Realms setting), so I'm fine if experiences prejudice from others because of it. But nothing came of that, and I don't feel it's my place to force it. Lots of groups are sensitive these days about anything to do with race.
I have a lot of disagreement here with you but 1st amendment and all that. But I would add my top 10 Elven notes for this video: 1) Eladrin and Drow can be pronounced differently so don’t be shocked (it comes up). 2) Eladrin are found in two books Dungeon Masters Guide (DMG) and Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes so ask your DM if they are open to either or both sources (DMG had a +1 to int and no level 3 bonus when Misty Steping). 3) Elves do not have to worship one god (there are dark and light pantheons and PCs and NPCs will worship what ever). 4) Talk to your dm about how Drow are treated this can cause issues because well they are controversial and Drow in all games are not always treated badly as this is DM dependent! 5)On Drow (again) they actually make great Bards as Bards don’t have to directly attack and thus many times they avoid the sunlight sensitivity. 6) High Elves racial feat gives them the ability to cast Misty Step after every rest (short or long). 7) High elves also make great Eldritch Knights and Arcane Trickers. 8) The stuff about the polyamory of wood elves is dubious and be careful if you don’t clear such with your DM before hand (and “read the table because if others are uncomfortable with you trying to have a harem it should be dropped). 9) Shadar-Kai are not decrepit but very old (as a rule) but this is only visible in the Shadowfeld so if you want to be Goth this is your elf 10) Half elves are not Elves at all and are seen as a different species in most game worlds (traditionally in the game) ; those that have issues worth them are specist. And a major element of this video has changed thanks to Tasha’s Cauldron of everything. It is now rules as written that you can change your attributes to where you like (aka put them in new attributes not stack them up). And you can change some of the weapons and skills of the elven people. If you a Wood elf mage you can move there +1 to intelligence. Want to have a Drow that worships Corralan move that Charisma to Wisdom and keep on praying . Elements of your species like Wood elf running or subspecies specific feats available are unchanged. I recommend talking to your DM about this before you start making your character.
