Thanks! An unexpected haul - have you ever found a 'Bag of coins'? Yes, I knew that wig curlers were a common Thames foreshore find, but rare for the River Wear for some reason!
Hi Gary, as a coin enthusiast from Ireland, I was attracted to your video to see what you found, very interesting thank you. When you've had fun going though the coins you might consider the following, I am a member of a RU-vid site in the UK called CoinPatrol. This channel is worth a look. Paul has made a few videos on bags of coins sent to him by viewers. I sent him a bag of coins and he did a video called 'Old Irish Coins from Peter' I think Paul enjoys doing the research, where and how you found them will add another layer. Cheers.
Ah mustve been deposited at earliest 2002! Perhaps a votive offering could be the culprit, or maybe an offering from someone who was struggling with money and believed in a money god@@GaryBankhead
Having helped out with a charity for many years, when people put things into the collection boxes, foreign coins are often found, separated from the rest and pudding to a bagel pot. They often sit in charity offices with no one taking much notice of them. This collection has that look, but of course we’ll never know.
Perhaps they wanted to pas them on, but the children fought over it so they carelessly threw it in the river, I doubt anyone would have thrown that away for suspicious reasons@@GaryBankhead
