Elvis may have "loved" Priscilla but, sorry it wasn't the right kind of love. When it's the real deal you don't want armies of people living with you, and with you wherever you go all the time. Thats why the real emotions were with Ann Margaret. Nor do you want to be sleeping with anyone else. Cilla became nothing more to Elvis than a sentimental affection and an obligation. That was his own fault for making promises to an immature and dysfunctional teenage girl and her agenda driven parents. I say dysfunctional because Priscilla Beaulieu was not an innocent little virgin at 14, however I won't go down that track for this commentary here. It's enough to just say that at 14 years of age Cilla was already quite a wild child and sexually promiscuous. Elvis was an emotional person, and while he was drawn to pretty attractive and seemingly sweet woman his emotions and fascinations didn't last long with anyone. Elvis loved them all in his own way, all for about 5 minutes that is. I don't know if Elvis would have remained faithful to Ann Margaret had he married her, but if any girl came close to the real deal, it was Ann. He never really let go of Ann even after they were both married to others, that deep connection never left either one of them right up till the day Elvis died. They stayed in touch through the years that followed right to the end of Elvis's life. Ann Margaret was truly devastated and was the only one of his co-stars to attend his funeral. And , you know what......Priscilla in my opinion liked Ann Margaret. Cilla states in her book "Elvis and Me" ,... that when Ann attended the funeral with her husband Roger Smith..... "Ann expressed her sympathies to me so sincerely, I felt a genuine bond with her " Wow, that's quite a statement from Priscilla about another woman that Elvis was losing his mind over, and a girl, the only girl Cilla was afraid of losing Elvis to. People are complicated life is complicated. Priscilla Beaulieu was important to Elvis, but unfortunately it was for all the wrong reasons. You don't go into marriage because of familiarity, responsibility, or indebtedness. Thank you for this video.

@andrewmiller4885
@andrewmiller4885 3 месяца назад
@@Mary-d5x6g Yep, Elvis was definitely taken in by a very pretty young face. As much as I dislike Priscilla, she WAS a real beauty, and although she was only 14 years old and not particularly intelligent in my opinion, she certainly had something we used to call "street smarts". She knew enough to shut up and listen to a man who was still grieving over the recent loss of his beloved mother. She presented herself as the shy demure quiet little girl with a compassionate and sympathetic and caring ear. Elvis should never have poured his heart out to someone so young and someone he didn't really know. The timing was perfect for Cilla and her parents. He is in Germany, his mother had recently died, and she was the only American call he could talk to with ease. All the other girls around him were German who spoke little or no English. Elvis, I believe, given his circumstances at the time, was ripe for the plucking. The connection and bond between them was established. However, when Elvis returned to the States it didn't last long and it was Priscilla who kept the relationship going all be it from a distance. According to Anita Wood who was with him in Graceland and had been waiting for his return, Priscilla was sending endless letters to Elvis and making plenty of phone calls. In one letter Anita Wood states that Priscilla was begging Elvis to bring her to Graceland to live with him.....Priscilla harassed Elvis relentlessly and he finally caved in. That was Elvis's huge huge mistake. That is precisely what painted him into the corner he couldn't get out of and eventually forced him to marry her. The Beaulieu's knew exactly what they were doing! It really was a very well-orchestrated trap that Elvis Presley fell into. He should have just gone on with his life and forgotten about her which he actually was doing but she had his phone number and his address, and her chase was on. Elvis did care for priscilla he was grateful for her sympathetic ear while he was in Germany. She was an exceptionally beautiful girl and Elvis probably also felt a sense of indebtedness to her, in addition to his attraction to her beauty. ...BUT... Elvis did NOT really love Priscilla in the way a man truly loves a woman. Had she not been doing all the pursuing Elvis would have married Anita Wood whom Gladys his mother adored and who he was planning on marrying. Elvis did NOT leave Anita for Priscilla. It was Anita who walked out on Elvis, when she found out about this pip squeak kid in Germany writing to him continually and begging to be brought to Graceland. When Anita walked out Elvis was crying his eyes out. Oh boy enough for the time being. I'll just finish by saying the story that Priscilla has dished up to the public for near on 50 years now about how she met Elvis, and the great love they had for each other is a myth. AS far as Elvis is concerned his feelings for Priscila were nothing more than an obligation, he couldn't get out of. It was a misplaced sense of obligation at that, because he owed her nothing. Priscilla's agenda and that of her coaching mother in particular, was to get Priscilla ensconced in Elvis 's home while she was still legally a minor. They knew they had him then, whether he wanted her or not after that I think was irrelevant to them. They trapped him into a position where he would no longer have a choice, and that is exactly what happened to Elvis. Elvis married a woman he didn't love and didn't want. Don't be fooled by the wedding film footage where everyone is all smiles. Elvis cared about Priscilla Beaulieu; Elvis never loved Priscilla Beaulieu, there is a big difference between the two emotions. Priscilla herself unfortunately didn't even care about Elvis the man. For her and her parents it was always about Elvis the Mega Icon, and the name on the marquee. Their eyes were on the fame, wealth, .and status it would bring their daughter and by extension bring her family as well .. and her short-lived marriage to Elvis did just that .

I agree. It was about revenge and getting fired out of the blue with no severance pay that amounted to anything. I get that. I agree with you on why Sonny and Red wrote that book, for revenge. Their thoughts at the time. We don't get paid after all we did for you, we will hurt your reputation by telling it all. With all my heart I believe Sonny and Red regretted writing that book. They were deeply hurt when Vernon fired them the way he did. I also believe they asked for forgiveness for doing it. Now who I do not believe regretted writing it was Dave Hebler, for the fact up until recently he was still talking all that crap about Elvis and still promoting it. And never once acted like there was anything wrong with it.

❤🎉❤🎉. I could be wrong but I doubt that Elvis and Ann Margaret would have had a good or happy marriage. Most people don't see the other side with this couple. Ann was very career oriented and she was very driven. Her loving parents spent a lot of time and money on Ann's singing and dancing and acting lessons. Ann was not the type to sit in a beautiful Memphis house just waiting for Elvis to come back home while she would raise their child. Ann would sense that Elvis was fooling around. Most women would not put up with this way of life. The Memphis Mafia members would have been thrown out in a minute and Elvis would have been in the middle of that fight. Ann wanted privacy like most women. I'm sure she wouldn't want to come down to the breakfast table to hear all those men burping and belching until lunch and dinner everyday! She also would have been living too far away from her parents. Ann wanted her dreams to fulfill her. She wouldn't want to be just sitting in Elvis's Memphis living room drumming her well polished fingernails waiting for Elvis to return from a long tour. Physically and socially and emotionally and mentally I do think these two would be compatible though. Their humor and their love of friends and family life and motorcycles and music and movies would have kept them together too. However Ann would not have liked Elvis's poor management of his finances or suddenly shooting off his massive gun collection. Elvis's drug and pill addictions and his attraction to very young girls would have completely floored Ann! Ann would probably listened to Elvis when he spoke sadly about the loss of his mother and Elvis probably would have understood Ann's heartbreak when she lost her beloved father. But Elvis would not have married a woman who was spiritually not as deep as he was. Ann Margaret always believed in God but Elvis was more of a searcher. Fast forward to 2024 and Ann Margaret is said to be much more devout. I do however picture Ann Margaret ( or Mrs. Gladys Presley had she lived ) kicking Colonel Parker to the curb - something Elvis should have done in the EARLY 1960's!! ( I often thought that Parker should have been shipped back to Amsterdam to face his crimes then Elvis could tour overseas - Parker would have been in a real prison and Elvis would finally get out of his mental prison - he needed to tour worldwide. ) Both Elvis and Ann could both be stubborn and spoiled and strong willed and very sensuous and yet sensible and highly competitive and romantic. Like most couples Ann and Elvis had their attractions but also their divisions.... just my opinions here. Priscilla Beauliu was Elvis Presley's failure but Roger Smith was Ann Margaret's success. Their lives took two completely different paths. Sad. God bless you all. ❤🎉❤🎉

I think the thing about Elvis not wanting to be with a woman who had children is made up. I'm pretty sure Barbara Leigh had a child and it didn't interfere with her relationship with Elvis. It's either like you said, something Priscilla said or an excuse Elvis might have used at times.

Priscilla actually went back on that story years ago. She went on the Loose Women show and in the Guardian magazine and said that she and Elvis had been having sex all along! She was as promiscuous as Elvis. She just abstained for a few years after moving to Graceland, until she got that ring on her finger. When a man likes, loves, and is Gaga about a woman, he always wants to be alone with her. IMO. Elvis fell in love with Priscilla’s beauty for a brief moment then got to know her and fell out of being in love with her. Then had to marry her. Elvis tried to change Priscilla because he didn’t like who she was inside. He then said you cannot teach a person how to love so he gave up. But then kept a bond with Priscilla and loved her as the mother of his daughter, not as the way a man falls and stays in love with a woman. And that knowledge IMO has made Priscilla livid, scorned and vindictive all this time. IMO

Linda claims she was with Elvis 4 and a half years. What Linda doesn't tell us though is the fact that her relationship with Elvis was sort of on and off . Elvis had other woman coming in and tour with him, and sleep with him too, while Linda during those periods was set up in a condo in L.A. There was Sheila Ryan, and Mindi Miller and another long blonde hair beauty called Diana though can't think of her surname. Elvis was never faithful to any woman. They were being juggled around believe me. Linda was not always with Elvis on tour that was only in the first year of their relationship. Just remembered Diana's surname was Goodman, so Diana Goodman. She was a short relationship, but he squeezed her in too while with Linda Thompson. Don't get me wrong I love Elvis . He was the greatest entertainer this world of ours will ever have, and he was a kind sweet and generous man who cared about people. But he could be a real stinker when it came to all the girls. Mind you they all benefited enormously from him. Elvis just gave and gave and gave to them, Cloths entire wardrobes, expensive, brand new beautiful cars extremely expensive stunning Jewlery, and he did treat them all with love care and complete respect . Not one girl in the many he had, has ever had an unkind word to say about him,... except Priscilla Beaulieu.

Other than Linda Thompson, Sheila Ryan is my favorite Elvis Lady. She was so down to earth and modest. Not a showy, Hollywood type at all. Nothing fake about her whatsoever. In the "The Definitive Elvis" series, "Elvis's Loves & Girlfriends", they go into Sheila a bit and she talks about his pill/addiction issues very honestly, and where she stood in helping him through those issues. It's really interesting. Re Joyce Bova, supposedly Joyce became pregnant by Elvis and had an abortion. What's also interesting to do is to look at all of EP's women together and they all look alike. They all look like Gladys for one thing, and they were all carbon copies of Priscilla. Elvis seemed to have preferred brunettes to blondes, though there were some blondes thrown in there. I also agree that Sonny really did have Elvis's best interests at heart when he took part in writing Elvis What Happened?. I read the book and it really wasn't that bad, however, I never thought that his sexual habits were necessary to include in the content, but I think Steve Dunleavy threw that in there to spice it up.

Except for Ginger Alden, none of his love interests looked like Priscilla in any way. Joyce Bova had the big, 1960's era hair like Priscilla but looked nothing like her. Linda Thompson was blonde during the last couple years of her time with Elvis. Anita Wood was blonde, Sheila was more of a blonde than brunette. I also watched the Definitive Elvis set, including the interview with Sheila. You're correct, she was very matter-of-fact, nothing fake or pretentious about her. Perhaps Priscilla stayed and put up with so much before the marriage, because she may have had another agenda, does that sound a little more realistic?

HES SPOT ON ABOUT THE WOMEN

Great discussion. Ann-margret said in her book and interviews, that Elvis and she were soul mates. It is such a tragedy that they didn't end up together; she got on with the mafia, Vernon loved her too which says a lot. I doubt if Elvis would have looked at any other woman if they had married. It is really weird that Elvis dated Sheila, Mindy Miller, and others while he was still living with Linda, she was so good for him, and again, got on with the mafia. As for that awful Joyce Bova, what she wrote in her book about getting pregnant to Elvis and aborting his child is the most disgusting thing that has ever been written by a woman in Elvis's life. I can't believe that any woman who claims to love Elvis would openly state that. He would have been devastated; he always said how he wanted kids - PLURAL - and that was something else that infuriated me about Pris., she had a son by another man, but refused to have any more kids with Elvis after Lisa Maria. I did a video on my channel titled "the first and last time I mention Priscilla on my channel". She simply is not worth talking about, and I bet she loves seeing all this discussion by Elvis's fans, fanning the flames of discord among them. B I T C H

Red and Sonny West were only trying to help Elvis Presley And These Two cousins really Loved and cared about what Elvis Presley, I did meet Sonny through some close friends and they only did the book to try and Save Elvis Presley because they knew everything what was going on. Try to find the Rec West Phone conversation between Red and Elvis.

I will. I was just specifically going by what Sunny West had talked about, and Sunny to my knowledge had not mentioned her. She’s very sweet. I’ve talked to her on Facebook. I will definitely do a feature on her.

Sonny was never torn up. Crocodile tears. He went around trashing Elvis in other books years after his death, and only started getting better in the last years of his (Sonny's) life. Like the others who trashed him, he started trying to remake his image as "one of those guys who loved Elvis". Creep, and hopefully in hell.

At the Comeback Special, Priscilla is sitting next to an older and a younger man. Where is the proof that she arrived with her lover? Who was it? What was his name? What idiot would go with his lover to an event where his lover`s husband is outshining every man on this planet?
