And imagine - the summer of '55 - right as things were starting and growing for Elvis... how he must have been so excited to be doing a concert right here. I bet his energy and enthusiasm was off the charts. And all those who got to see him, didn't realize of course what they were witnessing. This was like 6-7 months before Heartbreak Hotel came out so these people got to see a young, early version of the King of Rock-n-Roll. I wonder how many, once those hit records started lining up on RCA, thought back to that time and remembered... Oh ya, we saw him down at the Drive-In last year... what a time to be alive and witness history as it was growing and forming into what all it and he became!

According to Cinema Treasures, The Joy Drive-In opened on April 15, 1952 and closed on August 2nd, 1981. Trey, I appreciate your research and commitment to presenting the true facts.
