I am not usually into musicals but the chemistry between Presley and Ann-Margret and the way this charming song was choreographed was charming Perfect The way she cutely snides 'the gentleman's all wet' at the end :P
Yes Centrist I can do without musicals but I think the traditional type of musical like Doris Day stuff in Oklahoma etc is a bit corny compared to Elvis stuff. OK Elvis had his corny moments (many) but this type of film is more appealing and fast forward a few decades from this to Grease for a good example.
She was head over heels .... this wasn’t acting , he looks smitten..... watching Ann she’s almost like a female version of him , she ain’t lacking in confidence and to him that’s so attractive 👌😍 never mind she s a hot dancer and drop dead gawjuss ❤️
Bumped into her on the Vegas strip. She was about 50 years old and utterly gorgeous. She smiled and apologized and I melted. Most gorgeous sight of my life: her face, close up. I understand why Johnny Carson felt so nervous around her. Oh, and Elvis is great too.
Ann said, on the sly, "both of his (heads), are flipping their lids." 🤣 Elvis & Ann had a very sultry & hot 🔥 chemistry. Ann & Elvis, are rapping, just in a different style of music. 🎶 Facts!!!! 😉👍
What a real natural beauty Ann was. When she walked out from behind the screen in all yellow what a goddess. A real woman not like the overshaved over cosmetic hypes of today.
Ann-Margaret was only 22 years old when she made this movie. Can you imagine if 22 year olds had this much grace and good manners today? The world would be a different place. We should bring back etiquette classes. 💕
Thatz cuz she was truly *HOT,* and most of todayz starlets are just sexy.... So they run around almost naked constantly, which is depressing honestly, even if U are a guy.... Granted, she is wearin a skimpy getup here, *but hey it's a swimming pool scene!!*
These two were perfect for each other!!! I can understand their attraction for each other, they fell in love... He is gorgeous, she is stunning!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️...... TCB ⚡⚡⚡.....
I think you might be right. This scene is magical. Their chemistry, the lyrics, the interplay between them and I’m also astounded at what an average pool area at a Vegas hotel looked like in 1964. Cinematography and visuals are stunning.
Elvis was just a natural and it shows . You will never ever see a star such as Elvis start as a recording /stage artist transition to over 30 films on screen and again record/ stage artist all before the age of 42!
Watch how A-M never takes her eyes away from Elvis's...It's like they were the only two people there...Watch her wink and flash sparks on the line, "...Here's one girl you'll never get..."
Elvis and Ann were kindred spirits. Ann was Precilla's biggest fear while Precilla waited 8 years. Elvis wasn t ready but he had given his word to Precilla's Dad that if Precilla stayed in Memphis he would marry her some day and he kept his word as a real man does. Everyone said that Ann Margret took Elvis's death harder than anyone. Ann said that she would always love Elvis.
I think it's hilarious they thought they were keeping their relationship on the down low. One look in his eyes and you can see he's head over heel in love with her.
Growing up in a bad part of Philly in the 80s I grew up on these Elvis movies... This was my favorite! I remember being 9 and thinking 🤔 if cool was a team Elvis would be their quarterback...
These two my goodness they were stunning. Ann Margaret was feminiely gorgeous. It's no wonder they fell head over heels in love. Good Lord, look at them.
"Both of his HEADS are flipping their lids" WHOA! That sexual innuendo line even rivals the ending "The gentleman's all wet." Very clever and suggestive lyrics. Gotta love it.
Richard Brinker This is one of the reasons alot of people roll their eyes at younger folks. Seems alot are trying to take things to a ridiculous extreme, or dont try to understand things that came about prior to the 21st Century
Ann Margaret was my mother's neighbor. My mother has told me stories of Ann coming over and singing to her and her sisters to go to sleep at night. So cool in my opinion 😍
LYRICS She loves me, she loves me not She loves me, she loves me not She loves me, she loves me, she loves me The lady loves me and it shows In spite of the way she turns up her nose I'm her ideal, her hearts desire Under that ice she's burning like fire She'd like to cuddle up to me She's playing hard to get The lady loves me, but she doesn't know it yet The gentleman has savoir-faire As much as an elephant or a bear I'd like to take him for a spin Back to the zoo to visit his kin He's got about as much appeal as a soggy cigarette The lady loathes him but he doesn't know it yet The lady's got a crush on me The gentleman's crazy obviously The lady's dying to be kissed The gentleman needs a psychiatrist I'd rather kiss a rattlesnake Or play Russian roulette The lady loves me, but she doesn't know it yet She's falling fast she's on the skids Both of his heads are flipping their lids Tonight she'll hold me in her arms I'd rather be holding hydrogen bombs Will someone tell this Romeo I'm not his Juliet The lady loves me, but she doesn't know it yet She wants me Like poison ivy Needs me Like a hole in the head Everyone can see she's got it bad He's mad! The gentleman is an egotist I'm simply aware I'm hard to resist He's one man I could learn to hate How's about having dinner at eight I'd rather dine with Frankenstein In a moonlight tete-a-tete The lady loves me, but she doesn't know it yet Oh yes she loves me Dig that shrinking violet Oh she really loves me Here's one gal you'll never get She lo- lo- loves me Would you like to make a bet I said the lady loves me The gentleman's all wet
If things were made in heaven, Elvis would have married Ann-Margaret and had at least four children. From a cinematic point of view, Ann-Margret was the only woman who could keep up with Elvis -- in fact -- she would have traded down by marrying him by taking on a truck-load of baggage. Ann was not just a popular guest star next to Elvis. After he died, she went on to host innumerable shows in Vegas. She was an amazing dancer and had a decent voice, so she did not NEED Elvis to keep her own career moving ahead. Yet, Ann with Elvis would have been sensational. Ann could move her hips in a way that put anything Elvis did to shame. But she was more than hips moving at the speed of light. She had a grace, a presence -- all of which would have complimented Elvis on stage, but things rarely work out as we would like.
Yup ,and the Colonel was not happy with the fact that Ann could cause viewers eyes to divert from Elvis. Colonel made sure they never did another film together.
You may be right, although most of Elvis's baggage came long after this movie was made in 1964. Col Tom Parker was concerned with her possibly "overshadowing" him in this film and thus suppressed much of her interaction with him in this film. They recorded either 2 or 3 (depending which source you believe) more duets for this movie (Viva Las Vegas) but only this one made the film. Shame.
+KistGaming the use of Pomades really kicks in for the past three years. That means slickbacks and pompadours hairstyles are acceptable once again. So why not? Do it fast!
