Louise offers autographed books contact her through Dot Johnson at dotjohnson@bellsouth.net This video is about The Spa Guy showing you where Elvis, Dixie, Louise and Gene Smith would double date in Memphis... Don't forget to subscribe..
These videos are enjoyable but, at the same time, a bit sad to see the lonely and neglected remains of the simple yet grand era that gave rise to the King of Rock 'n' Roll.
I love how the kids would follow Elvis with his guitar across the street. What a great and poignant story. Thanks Spa Guy. You’ve put a smile on my face first thing in the morning.
Billy, I think Elvis would just love to be riding around with you now, doing all the Memphis places and such where he used to go. I just appreciate all that you do for us, because as an Elvis fan, my heart is in Memphis all the time, even though my body might not get back anymore, YOU take me around and I just love your detailed analysis! I have the same Garmin, and it's so neat to see you going to so many places that I didn't get a chance to go to that last time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. oh, yes...and I used to go to drive-in restaurants here in NIagara Falls in the '50's with carhops...I know what that was like. My brothers hung out there too, so I can picture Elvis doing that.
This was just plain AWESOME!! I would of just sat on the floor and think about a young Elvis hanging out and having fun. I would of taken half the floor tiles with me for memories . Lol loved your Elvis impersonation. Great vlog!!
I Think after reading all the books I have on Elvis he felt the same way too. He often talked with friends and ex-girlfriends about memory lane. I think that's what he loved about Memphis, made him still feel a sense of normalcy. In June Juanico's book she see's him in Vegas and he talked about them & 1956. The regrets and what could have been. So he felt it too. 😔 she is who gave him the prophet book by Khalil Gibran to help with his insomnia. When he dies she said that book was still on his night stand. I often think that was part of his connection to that book. His memories of then, her & a simple time. It made such an impression on him because of his age. 🥰
Your Elvis History Detective work is Ace- detailed and let us imagine what it was like when Elivis was hanging out with friends & family. Thank you Spa Guy-Elvis Detective.
Hi Billy. Wow 😮 fantastic investigations as always and with back up stories from Louise .we so love it.just to set foot in all these places where Elvis had been & with Dixie.Gene & Louise beautiful.just beautiful. Would love me one of those tiles from the restaurant for sure. From across the pond.if one was to fall in your pocket please let me know. 😮👩🏼🌹🎸 Xx so appreciate all that you do sir.
Another fantastic video, I wish I lived in the US so I could visit all these areas as well as Graceland. I must admit I find all the earlier history just as fascinating as Graceland, thank you again Spa guy, ever thought of writing a book full of photos of all these areas etc, I know I'd buy it, keep the videos coming, thank you, thank you, very much 🎸 🎤 🎶🎵
Hi 🙋 Spa guy! When you were showing, the empty lot ,of K's, I literally In visioned, Elvis ,Trixie, & Billy, walking into a noisy restaurant ! ☕☕ 🎸 Enjoyed this video! & thanks for all you do! Esther from N.Y 😄
Wow, amazing find! I like seeing the locations even though the buildings are not there anymore. It would have been so cool to be there during those old days. These are all great stories to document!
Wish they would have kept some of these buildings from ELVIS PRESLEY'S time what a waste, history is gone, thank you Billy for all of your time and hard work you do a fantastic job, grateful that you do what you do, MARTICIA
thank you again my friend spa guy for all hard work u put in to this for ever one to see and get to know about .best wist to you may god bless you t.c.b lovey work just wish was there with u 2 .thank u 1
Awesome video! Amazing that the floor is still there after all this time! Thanks for the pics and showing where things were back then. Can you imagine how they must have felt when Elvis made it big and then they knew they had ran him off. I hope they realized later who they ran off. Lol. Great car pics! Cute story how she backed into Gene. Lol. Thanks for another great video. Now we all get to see places Elvis had been. 🥰
We used to go to Earl’s Hot biscuits during Elvis Week back in the 90’s, when they had moved to West Memphis AR..best biscuits I’ve ever gotten from a restaurant
I heard about Gene Smith writing a book but I didn't know if it was available yet or not I think it'd be a terrific read he's a very funny and nice man!
Its to bad places get torn down . That place,Ks would be a great place to visit and chow down. I visited Ft Campbell when I was in the army back in the early 70s trying to get emergency pay and someone took me over to where Elvis bunked. I was stationed at Ft Hood and the house he rented for a while was still there. Kinda magical, the feeling.
I really enjoyed this one! Interesting and informative. If that land could talk! I can just see Elvis sitting on the car playing his trusty guitar. Those were the days!! Little did he know what was in store for him - what his future would hold. Thank you so much, Billy, for adding another piece to the puzzle. Can't wait to see what's next! :-)
Hello my friend i just love these stories. The way you tell them i just seem to imagine myself drifting off thinking what it was like back in the day.You take my mind off of things like an escape if you know what i mean, just love them wish they went on longer, Anyway very much appreciate what you do many thanks and Godbless you Thanks russ
Great stuff. It's a trip that the tile floor and the door entry way etc to K's Drive In are still there, all these decades later. Wow. Like a ghost from another era.
Thank you for showing us these sites. It always saddens me to see old architecture torn down and not maintained. People don't see value in restoration. Anything built before 1970's is worth restoring. (1970's through 80's building materials were horrible. Anything built with texture 111 needs to go.)
Your videos are always amazing and very interesting. Thank you for doing all the investigating and footwork in order to bring us these videos. Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I was little, My grandparents spoke often fondly of Earl's Hot Biscuits!! This is a pretty cool video. Being able to see the sight where it was. Thank you so very much 😊
Thanks Spa Guy for this wonderful, amazing story about Elvis Presley; I wish I could have been able to enjoy that timeless experience with America 's finest era of growth. It's sad we are losing so much history of wonderful places that people worked hard to build. Cities seem to lose lots of businesses, thriving cities become ghettos of poverty. Why! Staying away from people doesn't seem healthy or friendly. Talking over texting doesn't make sense for humans to interact with your family, friends, coworkers, colleagues etc. Very strange times to understand how to navigate today as to understand how we did in our own environments.
Billy, I LOVE your work and your videos! Keep up the GREAT job. Too me what you are doing is invaluable to the Elvis story. Your work shows us so many inside looks at his life, it is amazing. You found his first bike in his smoke house at Graceland. It is just awesome. Keep hunting and you might find him! LOL
Next time I am in Memphis...gonna go to 166 East E.H. Crump Boulevard, and walk on the same tiles, Elvis walked on. How awesome. I cannot get enough...of your channel. Keep up the good work, Spa Guy. You are the man! 👍☀️👍
Great story and brilliantly told and investigated, fabulous to see the buildings outline still there, another piece of the elvis jigsaw put together billy you tightened right up again your the best.
Another interesting video. I especially like how you are now able to take pieces from different interviews and use them in a new video (this video). Your database of interviews and archeology of Elvis is going to preserve Elvis history.
Hi Billy😊Thank you for making this video.. it was Very interesting!! Always look forward to your Elvis videos!! I definitely need to buy a copy of Gene’s book about Elvis❤️Thank you again😁 Tighten up and God Bless❤️ EP Forever💞
Another fabulous, entertaining, and educating video! Thanx for showing us the locations. Awesome that the tile is still there at K's. I can imagine Elvis being there back in the day, but sadly, I don't think he'd go there today. The neighborhood doesn't look so safe, and that's a real shame...especially for a neighborhood that Elvis thought was a somewhat wealthy area back then. A lot of the early Elvis related areas you've shown us look rather sketchy today. Be careful while you're out investigating...especially on your own. But...I loved the video and, as always, am looking forward to what you have to offer next. Take care.
kincaide67 well you’d be right about the sketchy part. Most of memphis is now.Especially the old parts where Elvis hung out.Back in the old days this was a nice part of town, many large antebellum homes from the late 1800s.Especially Gaston park area that spaguy mentioned. This was an affluent area. But there all gone now.Torn down in the 1960s.Urban renewal they called it.They erased much history.Ill bet people back then didn’t even lock their doors. Its not even the same town Elvis grew up in.
Great video Billy. I would have loved the free Elvis concert. I agree with you Dixie is a sweet lady. These memories will live on in your videos for years. I appreciate your time and effort
Another great find super sleuth Mr. Spa Guy. You tightened up !!!!!!!! It would have been fun to have hung out with Elvis Ms Dixie and Elvis' other friends. Keep tightening up. Lord bless.
Wow how cool is that ? Plus there is the pit location & entrance door. ( on angle ) Hope you unscrewed that bottom metal plate. Elvis the young Elvis stepped on / over it. Popular eating place as it was open 24 hrs. Elvis in a zillion yrs would not of thought one day a guy called Billy would tell the story of he at this location many yrs later. Detective Spa Guy. No rock unturned. But thru this info we truly see Elvis's Pieces of my Life & just get to know him in a more intimate way.
This was so much fun to watch. I hope you unscrewed that door plate :) It`s interesting how alive all events become when you drive us to the original spots where they happened :) Mrs. Smith`s memory is unbelievable. Such a nice lady. Thank you, Billy, for another great video :)
You Sir are one cool guy! Seeing the ceramic tiles still in great shape is amazing. Would love to go in there and put a chair down and sit a spell to conjure up some incredible memories. Thank-you so much.
