If he had been a preacher he would have probably helped a lot of people. His entourage said he would love to buy out fruit and vegetable stands on country roads just because he could!!!
In my opinion, this is the greatest vocal performance ever by a solo artist! Sung with so much feeling and emotion. No other singer, past or present, can top this
Beautiful, but the live Andy Williams' show with Righteous Brothers' Bobby Hatfield singing Unchained Melody is considered the greatest solo live performance.
His red tie represented the blood of our Vietnam War’s young soldiers. I’m so, so touched by your reaction. You’re an inspiration, indeed! I grew up in that era and, yes! Yes! If anyone is not moved by this performance, I’m speechless. Elvis is not only the King of Rock-n-roll; he’s the King of COMPASSION. Thank you so much for your reaction. Perhaps many more people will open their eyes, AND heart. 💖
Amen!!!! We need more people to sing and speak about UNITING US WITH LOVE ❤️ I’m so tired of celebs and prominent people getting attention and followers by preaching hate. We need more MLK’s and more Elvis Presley’s! We need to unite with LOVE!!! God wins with LOVE!!! I grew up listening to this song and I STILL get chills. Thank you for feeling this incredible human and putting it out there. I LOVE your reaction! ❤️❤️❤️ The world needs more love! Elvis was singing about a man he respected so much about losing MLK and Bobby Kennedy. There is a reason why this song resonates with all of us! Seek LOVE, let’s embrace each other with LOVE ❤️ Sick of the powers that be trying to seperate us. We the people have the power to come together and break the chains of hate. Thank you again for your post! ❤️❤️❤️⚡️ #tcb
You are so right! He was the greatest entertainer of all time! And he opened up the door for all music genres to come! 45yrs after he left us, he still is loved all around the WORLD! Not many entertainers,if any, can lay claim to that!!! RIP Elvis
Amazing! Isn’t it? No voice dubbing, no computer controlled microphone, no editing!! He sang that in he special in one take!! The King of music!! My 21 year old daughter knows all of his songs!!!!
The voice, the vocals, the performance, the hype, the swag, the message, the music, the true feelings and everything else are way way greater and higher than today's standards of songs.
Story goes during rehearsals ..1st , Col. Tom was bangin on the door yelling " No way...no message songs, etc.". He wanted the whole show to be a Xmas show, all Xmas songs,. 2nd, during first takes they had to start over frequently because the studio band members were so blown away by Elvis' power and emotion that they became spectators, some in tears. Finally, keep in mind that 1968 was a painful year for all. Assassin's took out MLK and then RFK. So, that shock and pain went into creating and performing this, my favorite, epic Elvis song. Also, he performed it many times mostly the same way but it's said his best by far was singing it lying on his back. You won't find many covers of this one. No one could
Im glad the young generation still can hear and see the soul and heart of where music really began. Ive been elvis fan for 50 years and will remain his fan till i die. Thank you for showcasing the king for new generations to hear
Love you and as my music teacher in college once said, "You will never find a singer like Elvis Presley, who could sing any different type of music more soulfully and majestically than anyone else!"
If you watch to the very end, when he says: “Thank you. Good night”, you can see that he put his all into the delivery of that song and it left him breathless.
Omg. I was crying every time I listened to this song . Elvis Presley is the legend and is the king of Rock and Roll 🎸. This need to message to the world and the young generation.
Elvis is one of the most recognized & famous people in music history, & no doubt, one of the most talented, however his heart & love for humanity, is his true legacy 💗💚💜 I wish with every fiber of my being, that his dream would come true right now!!! 💗💚💜 RIP **Martin Luther King** RIP **Robert Kennedy** RIP **Elvis Presley** 💗💚💜 3 amazing men, who tried to change to world for the better, & paid the ultimate price 😔 *GREAT REACTION*
No one could sing like Elvis! He could do Gospel, Rock and roll, country, whatever... I don't want to even say he's a generational talent, he's a once in a lifetime talent...this Song shows how good he could sing...
Sir Tom Jones, even Elvis said Tom’s voice was the best he’d ever heard and he was correct. Today even his 80’s Tom can still sing amazingly well. In his prime Tom’s power, range, tone and emotion was second to none. Watch him sing ‘never fall in love again’ in 1964 on RU-vid, all live with no modern technology, yet he’s just spectacular, all pure talent.
Graduated from high school in 1967 and this was live. He was told not to sing this song but, he did it anyway. True legend still in 2024 and I still love all his music.
I've been an Elvis fan my entire life.... it's been a few years since I've sat down and watched this performance. I can't stop the tears..... That was raw, no ear monitor, live band off to the side, no vocal effect, no audience. Just Elvis giving everything he had during a very difficult time in our Nation's history. Elvis never believed it was his place to share his opinions on politics, worldly events, or religion. Although he had a deep religious belief, his personal thought was that he was an entertainer..... that was his God given talent and it was his talent he would share with the world. His words: "Id like to say that I learned Very early in life that: 'Without a song the day would never end Without a song a man aint got a friend Without a song the road would never bend Without a song... ' So I keep singing a song. Good night. Thank you. Share lyrics
@Kristine I pray God may forgive me ...but I HATE so-called "Col." Tom Parker for the HORRIBLE way he used and abused Elvis for his own arrogant greed alone! He didn't care about Elvis's well-being; all he cared about was lining his own pockets!! 😠😡🤬😈
ELVIS THE KING 👑 He was truly amazing, I think his voice is Hypnotising all you can do is just watch and listen in amazement.. I was born in 1963 loved the film's music 🎶 don't think they will ever be another artist like Elvis ❤️🇬🇧
I love the reactions from the younger generation who's getting a taste of Elvis for the first time. This is why his songs have started climbing the charts again due to the new Elvis movie which was fantastic. Elvis will always be The King ! This was one of the best reaction videos I've seen. Thanks for that. New subscriber. 🥰
Thanks! I grew up listening to Elvis . My dad was his biggest fan. When he bought an album he bought 2, 1 to open and one never opened. He would sing Elvis non stop. My friends were like your daddy looks and sounds like Elvis and he looked but vocals mot as smooth. Rip daddy. I was made to listen and tell my dad the meaning of this song.
This was recorded in NBC TV studio for his 68 TV special. No audience. Live, raw vocals though - you are correct.. compared to all the tech they use nowadays to make people sound in tune!! Great reaction x
There was an audiance the whole show a very small one but that was the point. He hadn't been in front of an audiance for 10 years. He was so nervous. It was perfection
He sang this as a response to Martin Luther King Jr and Robert Kennedy being assassinated in 1968. Elvis changed a lot of people's thoughts in this Country and the greater World.
Elvis was the best... I remember watching this show on television with older sisters, I was 5 yrs old... There's a reason they call him the KING!! He is the most impersonated musician til this day... The man was gifted with soul & kindness... And let's not forget that he was a 😍gorgeous man!! I am glad you were introduced to Elvis... Visit Graceland if you ever get an opportunity...
If I could hit your like button a million times I would!! For Elvis and mainly the meaning of this song!!! We should all be in the streets singing it!!!!!!
My fellow Elvis fan. Fantastic reaction. I share the same birthday as the King, and have watched the Aloha from Hawaii concert every year on our birthday. After 65 years, I've seen a lot. Thank you for opening up, for really listening to the words, for feeling the emotions of the man. Even today after hearing this song, this version, this epic moment recorded for all time, I cry. Earth is in a bad way, humanity is struggling with many real big life threatening issues. Music has always been for me my connection to the world. May we all come to together as one people, and raise our consciousness up is my daily meditation. Peace to all on the path.
It was a protest song because Bobby Kennedy was assassinated during rehearsals for the Christmas special. MLK Jr's "I Had a Dream" was the inspiration for some of the lyrics & title, but this was not performed as a tribute to him.
You're right about him taking up the room. There was always an announcement made when he left. " Elvis has left the building" lol. I was 8 yrs old when he died and I cried as I put the news clipping on my wall. 1977. Also if you didn't know. His daughter married Michael Jackson. Look that up. Michael also tried very hard to buy the rights to his music. Michael even knew he was an icon.
A lot of the hard rock bands from back in the 1960's were looking down on Elvis for singing ballads all the time, they're not laughing now, it is specifically those ballads that have withstood the test of time and clearly showcase his talent.
everyone else has talked about the song itself, and absolutely, it's an incredibly powerful song with an amazing, aspirational message that holds up even today, but other than that I gotta say: a pure white suit is difficult to pull off and make it look good, but if anyone could do it it was Elvis
For Sure!!! I visited there in August 2001 and was almost reduced to tears, I felt his Spirit as soon as I entered the front door of Graceland. It was an emotional trip for me!!!
Elvis is the GOAT. No crazy lights, smoke, etc. just pure talent. Knowing he was color blind to all the division that others want to divide us. Growing up in the ghetto really shaped his outlook on people.
I can see it in your eyes and face, the realisation and appreciation that you are experiencing the Elvis phenomenon. Lovely reaction. Do look into his life. From 18 years old in 1953, to 42 years old in 1977 this man recorded over 700 songs, in different genres from Rock and Roll to Gospel, made 31 movies and 2 documentaries, served 2 years in the Army for his country and gave away and raised millions of dollars for charities and people in need. Please do react To more Elvis. 👌🕺💕
