Me too. I’m 62, and have been an Elvis fan since I was 8 yrs old. I listen to all the reactions and I’m so so glad the youngsters are feeling his love and care for humanity. He has helped me get through my life and I’m glad others are taking his legacy on board. Elvis picked all his songs with care. His grace and precise choices delivers so many messages. If you want some raw Elvis..... try crawfish out of king creole !
I am nearly 75 and grew up with Elvis. Promise us older folks that you will listen to our music and encourage younger generations to listen to Elvis as you get older. He was an amazing talenr.
Oh yes let’s go. He sang this months after MLKs death. Elvis was devastated... he’s speaking about racism and segregation. Stop the hate. Loved this man so much
This is deep because MLK had been assassinated and he was very upset and was talking to his writers about this. They wrote this song for him as a dedication to MLK’s “I Have a Dream “ speech. He meant every word.
He did sing from the Heart & Soak. Everyone was equal in his eyes. I saw him in Ft Worth Texas in 1974. He looked like a Greek god. Prettiest man I have ever seen. This televised special here was his first live performance in like 10 years. He got roped into making a bunch of silly movies & he wanted to sing live before live audience. He still had it 100%. I was very young & almost didn’t go see perform. I am so glad I did
Elvis' manager told him not to perform this song because it's too controversial. Elvis told him the only way he won't perform it is over his dead body. This song was written in honor of MLK after he was assassinated. LONG LIVE THE KING.
He sang this song right after Martin Luther King Had been Assassinated . It was written and sung in his memory . He was very emotional he never got to meet MLK but respected him and loved what he stood for . When the show was over they said he went back stage and broke down like a baby .
There is no one dead or alive today that bring so much talent, energy ad charisma and can emotionally move a younger generation 50 years later through a simple recording.
This was a tribute to Dr Martin Luther King. Dr King was assassinated in Memphis. It was where Elvis lived most of his life. His home was in Memphis and so was mine. This song touches my heart.❤️❤️❤️❤️. It was for civil rights.❤️ Love your reactions my dude.
Watch the white suit version. Even if just on your own. It has been said he cried his heart out after singing for that version because he was so devastated about the assassination of MLK and Robert Kennedy just months before he recorded his 68 comeback special. He ended that special with the white suit version even though they wanted him to do a Christmas song. And he never performed that song live afterwards either. ❤
ELVIS was from another Galaxy! The passion and power in his voice, and his looks phenomenal! I love to see young people get to know ELVIS music! Thank you!
Elvis would be so happy to see that today's generation digs his music, especially songs like this where he was trying to break through and noone would let him back then. Now people are realizing that Elvis was a lot more than Rock n Roll. There was a clear message, a Christian side, and a social warrior side of him, and being able to watch it on video on youtube makes it much easier to get that message out to millions (impossible when it was performed).
It is NOT! his music. It is the music some one else wrote and the lyrics some one else wrote just like every other song Elvis sang. Grow up, step away from using a dead mans profile and grow some balls, you coward.
I love it but the one in the white suit, is my favourite. It's a tribute to Martin Luther King who was assassinated in Elvis hometown. Also to Robert Kennedy who was assassinated too.
Yeah the whole world could benefit had Elvis been alive to enjoy the attention his music still gets. He never got the appreciation for the good social changes that he implemented around him while he was still alive. He was fighting and winning battles that are still being fought to this day. What made Elvis different is he never got political. He understood true change has to come from the people. Politicians cannot do that for us alone. None of them can. If this man were alive today we would have an entertainer that could entertain any age group, rich, poor, black white and all of us in between. One of the great social warriors of the last 200 years. And maybe the only one who did not advertise or promote a political position. A man who grows up poor sees more of the world than the rest of us can. Elvis was the one. Wish there were a lot more people like him today.
Elvis Presley wanted to do a song for Dr, Martin Luther King Jr and Robert Kennedy when they had both been shot and killed and what I was told when I was at Elvis Presley's house is he was so upset and this is why he did this beautiful song If I Can Dream😘 Thank God for that song it's so beautiful n I cry every time I listen to this song🎶
Your reaction was like many in this world. It only took 1 or 2 sightings or songs of his for people to fall in love with him and he was simply the very best. And imagine, you said he got you already after a short time which is exactly what he did to millions of people across the world and he is continuing to get people today; not just you nearly 50 years since his death and nearly 70 years since he first started singing publicly. Sure some videos I encourage you to watch. Polk Salad Annie, Suspicious Minds, American Trilogy, Memories, My Way, In the Ghetto, and You'll Never Walk Alone to name just a few.
This song was his dedication to Martin Luther King Jr and John F Kennedy who had been killed a few months earlier. Yes his song was about being united no matter what race you are religion or whatever. Walk a Mile in My Shoes, In The Ghetto, for a fun Elvis and dance moves Polk Salad Annie live in Vegas 1970 or Suspicious Minds in Vegas 1970. Been a fan for over 40 years love Elvis.
Trell, this is a good version of this song but you have to hear Elvis singing this song when he first sing it on TV he is wearing a white suit on that version. That is the famous version where Elvis first sang it and he puts his soul into it so strong and it is the version everyone loves. Please will you review that version of him in the white suit? We want so much to see your reaction to see if you like it too.
Your reaction was great & thanks for including others in your journey of insight into the life of Elvis Presley. This song was a tribute to Martin Luther King. Both were men of faith & willing that God should use their lives to stand for what is right. Feeling so blessed to have grown up with the music of Elvis Presley - as is the case of many South Pacific Islanders, lol. Good job Twano 2am.
Thank you for listening to Elvis ! Elvis had love for so many, everyone to be honest ! Some really amazing songs of his is Kentucky Rain, IN The Ghetto, baby let's play house, fever, Steamroller blues, Don't cry Daddy, Hard Headed Woman Burning love and many more! Thank you again from an Elvis Fan in Indiana
Thank you for such a great and honest reaction and for listening to Elvis. Like you, we would all love to just be able to go and give him a hug, but sadly we can't. The best thing you could do for him right now is to share what you have learnt about him to your friends and others in your generation; especially those who have the wrong idea of him. Thank you again for taking time to really listen to him.
"How he was able to think like that in that environment he came up in." Absolutely right, Trell. Elvis was a child of segregation and Jim Crow - he was born into it and grew up with it and benefited from it racially - but he was above it and was never defined by it. You hooked on to the meaning of this tribute to Dr King early in your reaction and you were spot on. From his 1968 Comeback Special, as you noted, Elvis sang this with so much conviction and passion. He admired Dr King (some Elvis fans tend to claim that they were friends but there's no substantiated proof of this) and was devastated to hear of his murder. Such a shame that a song with a message first heard in 1968 remains too relevant today. Sadly, If I Can Dream was a once in a lifetime song and performance from Elvis. He never performed it live again - a real shame because although he didn't sing many socially conscious songs, the few that he did still speak to the mess that the world is in today. I'm also a big rap fan but I love all kinds of music. I hope you continue to enjoy checking out Elvis because during his 1954-1977 career, he sang just about every genre of music: from country to rock n roll, gospel, rhythm and blues, pop, soul and even funk. I really adore your heartfelt and deep reaction; great singers can move people with the power of their voice. That's a God-given talent.
Hey sweetheart, it's never too late to discover Elvis, your so young and just found out what kind of man he was. I thank you for giving him a chance, if you haven't already, react to "in the ghetto" ,which is where Elvis grew up. Thank you
Great Reaction! The more you get to know Elvis, the more you will admire him. Elvis was a very special person. "How Great Thou Art" is a powerful song to react to. Also check out "Walk a Mile in My Shoes". Elvis had a message he wanted to share.
He was a beautiful man inside and out, a man who couldn't cope with his fame. His fame and prescription drugs to cope with it killed him in the end. RIP Mr Presley you'll always be the G.O.A.T. Greatest of all time ❤
Oh my precious brother! Elvis knew that the candle beckoning in the darkness is the love of Jesus that is reaching out to each of us! He had his struggles like we all do, but i believe with my whole heart he is in the glory of heaven, still singing His heart out to the Father of lights.... and you can go there too! I love you!
Can I tell you Elvis was for real and full of soul.So glad you young people are discovering him.I miss him still and I'm 75 yrs.old.watching your videos.
Well young man you feel like every other person who has been touched by this awesome man. You can never go back to the Way you were after having been touched. He is a treasure no doubt. I guess all fans really love him, i mean really love him. I have been listening for over 60 years now . He is a source of comfort for me like a visit home. One day we will all be reunited and you can have that hug and sit down. God bless and welcome to the family.
OH yes.. we should all be together and still working on it in 2021.. and he did this 53 yrs ago. Sad that it hasn't happened yet.. hope we r getting closer. Elvis had a vision and a passion... love love love
Now you know why he's called the KING, from other people not himself, he didn't like being called it, and always refuted it. Never ever be beaten, NEVER ❤
First your not the same guy as usual. Do you have your own channel?. Excellent reaction. The closest you can get now is to visit Graceland especially during the 2nd week of the anniversary of his passing. It's an awe inspiring feeling carrying your candle up to his garden of serenity where he, his mother, father, grandmother and grandson are buried. Just watching the never ending line of candles being carried up is awesome. It's beautiful to see how all these years after his passing how loved he still is
Elvis was a gift from God. His music, and voice was AMAZING never will there ever be a voice, looks, talent, And Above all was generous from his heart to all. We love you forever always!
So glad that younger people are listening to old music it makes me smile at your reactions he was ditt poor growing up and at the time was of mixed race which was very very hard at that time
Thank you so much for seeing what so many of have know for so long.. Elvis was magic and he knew how to touch your heart with such passion. What I really loved about him is that he could laugh and even make fun of himself..and thats so human. He was a poor child and all he did as he became famous is to buy things for his friends and even perfect strangers. Check this out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_EWjYFgYpOQ.html
Almost no one that comments on this song actually likes this version better than the one he did on the Comeback Special. The one where he was wearing white is the ultimate. And yet people keep reacting to the version with the black suit on. Which is good as well, just not as good as the White Suit version.
Elvis was a top performer his whole career, but he changed music when he became Rock's first superstar when the genre was new. To experience this check out the Jailhouse Rock video from 57.
You made the comment we need more like him, you are like him passionate loving caring hoping just knowing that we are all brothers and sisters. God bless you and yours and God bless the USA
Don't feel bad young man...the world has been making a caricature out of Elvis for the last 45 years. After watching a ton of Elvis reaction videos the last few days by young people of all races...I think the Kings music is about to have a major renaissance.
OMG love love love.. your have his version in the black leather suit... everyone else has him in the white suit... Still the amazing Elvis with this amazing song.
Elvis is one of the most recognized & famous people in music history, & no doubt, one of the most talented, however his heart & love for humanity, is his true legacy 💗💚💜 I wish with every fiber of my being, that his dream would come true right now 💗💚💜 RIP **Martin Luther King** RIP **Robert Kennedy** RIP **Elvis Presley** 💗💚💜 3 amazing men, who tried to change to world for the better, & paid the ultimate price 😔 You understanding what Elvis was really about, made this old gal smile, Thank you for your kind & heartfelt comments 💗💚💜
You should really listen/watch this song on his 68' Comeback Special! It was soon after MLK & B. Kennedy were killed and it's his tribute to them! It's very emotional....he put his heart & soul into that performance! He always performs this song with his heart...but that 1st performance...you can see the difference!!!
I am 73 and it warms my heart that you felt what we felt when he first sang it so many years ago, now listen to In the Ghetto , it will really hit home,
I love your reaction. Elvis burned with the courage of his convictions, and he stood with the black community and defied anyone to try and stop him. He deserves our love and respect.
@@Chris-kj7de yet you failed to answer the question. I see that my comment and question is far too intellectual for you to answer, otherwise you would have.
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 YOu think trolling proves superior intellect. 🤣Lawdy how you resent being a rural mail carrier. Will you get your birthday off this April, Jeff?
You're right Twano, Elvis was asking why can't we live in harmony "Where all my bothers walk hand in hand"?! To me this is Elvis's most emotional and powerful performance ever and a tribute to Martin Luther King! And really as Bruce Lee once said "We are all one under the heavens!"
Don’t feel guilty for something and someone you didn’t know about. He was before your time. It’s up to the old folks who know to show you. It hurts me that he can be so misunderstood by innocent people who don’t know, when he tried his best to live a good life, help people, and spread love, which we need so bad now. Peace and Love to you.
