He generously gave money and things away without seeking publicity to anyone or cause he thought needed it. 2 examples of many: He bought his long-time cook a house. At a car dealership he saw someone get refused for a loan to buy a car; Elvis bought and gave the car to that person. Of course, if "well" means enriching oneself, then no, he hemorrhaged money. He used his celebrity, and its freedom of wealth, for more good than any other celebrity, IMO; he helped change the social and music culture for the better. But, because of his status no one could say "no" to him, which was to his personal detriment (health not handled well) that led to his premature demise.
