I met Elvis in Las Vegas Feb 1970 at a after party at the Hilton. He sang this song on the piano and brought tears to some of the 50 people there. I’m from Adelaide Australia and I was on my honeymoon. I’m 86 and that concert/after party feels like it was yesterday. When he walked into the room everyone went quiet girls were staring guys were speechless! He was a true gentleman and went around the room shook hands with everybody and my wife got a kiss(she was never the same..lol ) What a night!!

Hearing your story echos everything I heard and read about Elvis. Finished a biography on Elvis last month, It's full of testimony relating similar experiences. I cherish these stories for they reinforce my affection and respect for him. As a youth I was under the spell for obvious reason but now I'm in awe at his accomplishments and legacy. Should say this lockdown has allowed me to rekindle with this unique artist. I wish it was under different circumstances but thanks to You Tube I have discovered new material and it's been a revelation since. I found this quote by Norman Lebrecht '' It seems almost inexplicable that the human race, with its ravenous appetite for entertainment, should have failed over so many decades to produce another Callas and Elvis". I feel he pretty sums up my sentiments. Thank you for sharing. God bless

This song breaks my heart. I think about my beautiful girlfriend who went to heaven. She has not been in this world for several years. I've known this sad song for a long time. Once upon a time we listened to this song with her. But only now I was able to listen to her. Nobody could sing like Elvis. Thanks to Elvis for his beautiful voice and the soul he showed in this wonderful song. Elvis forever.

Sorry for your loss I lost my fiance in May of 2023 we both loved Elvis I was huge Elvis fan before I met my fiance and I didn't know that he liked him too we would listen too Elvis alot through the years listening to Elvis now makes me cry thinking of my late fiance 😢💔💖💕❣️ I miss him so much

To quote Priscilla in an interview with Larry King years ago... "Elvis had it all." She was so right. He had the looks, the talent, The voice, the sex appeal, the dance moves, a great promoter, the only guaranteed money making movies in the '60s, a great entertainer, modesty, generosity, vision, polish, country at heart, patriotic, spiritual believer, etc. It's no wonder why women kept throwing themselves at him. Some temptations were just too hard to resist which ended up being part of his demise.

I saw Elvis 4 times...went to Graceland Oct 77....his Uncle Vester still worked the gate. He was kind and told us stories of fans at the gate. Oct 3rd....at dusk..coming from the direction of the cemetery...the sky lit up with blue police lights...and they led two white hearses through the gates...there was only us and a handful of people...we were there when Elvis and his Mothers bodies were laid to rest in his Meditation Garden. Home forever at Graceland.

The song is a reflection of the songs and direction he wanted go and did....although many at the time seem to reject that direction, I am grateful so many now appreciate these songs. This was my second record, the first single that I ever purchased in March, 1967. Sadly it barely scraped the top 40 at the time rising to #33. Over the years this song has earned and received much more respect that what it had when it was released

Elvis worked a lot on his voice to allow it to mature and to create nuances and power. He certainly succeeded on all counts. This is one of the best examples when you compare it to what his voice was at the beginning of his career. This is the mark of a true artist. In a way l feel he is teaching us. He was a beautiful man, he cared about the poor, he never forgot where he came from and the hardships his family had to endure. He respected his audience, he knew they were paying good money to see him so he laid on a huge orchestra, backing singers and glitz in order to deliver a class performance for them. Today we get three guitarists and a drummer wearing jeans n t shirts with lots of screaming and jumping around passing as entertainment. Long live Elvis.

The world seems to be a bit more empty after Elvis left us. It just doesn't feel complete without Elvis. Then to make matters worse we also lost Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Lennon, Jackie Wilson and a whole lot more who were around in the 60s. We won't see the likes of it again, so many giants walking the planet in the same epoch.

I agree! So handsome but didn't know it because he was so humble. I miss him so much that I cry now and then. Just such a hole in our hearts.
