When my youngest daughter was 5 (she’s 20 now) she used to listen to my ipod. One day I came across her listening to Kentucky Rain with her headphones on & singing it out loud. I recorded her (it’s on my channel) and every time we hear it we think of that day and smile from ear to ear. I had no idea she liked it & knew most of the words. Her facial expressions & body language emitted so much emotion. She definitely felt the vibe, although she was much too young to understand what the song meant (i think, lol). Elvis was my first love. I was 12 when he died and crushed. Billy Joel came along soon after & saved my weary soul. I’ve never looked back & follow Billy faithfully to this day♥️🤍🖤🤍♥️

"Kentucky Rain" is a 1970 song written by Eddie Rabbitt and Dick Heard and recorded by Elvis Presley. It was recorded at American Sound Studio and features then session pianist Ronnie Milsap.[1] Other musicians on the record include Bobby Wood on piano, Bobby Emmons on organ, Reggie Young on guitar, Tommy Cogbill on bass and Gene Chrisman on drums.[2] The song and session was produced by Felton Jarvis (RCA Victor) and Chips Moman (American Sound Studio of Memphis). It was certified Gold by the RIAA, signifying United States sales of more than a million copies. It peaked at 16 on the charts.

The Imperials and The Sweeet Inspirations were Elvis backups since summer 1969, not at this studio recording sessions in January/February 1969. Backup singers were Mary and Ginger Holladay, Sonja Montgomery, Susan Pilkington, Sandra Posey, Donna Thatcher on the January/February studio records.

Apparently reached #21 in the U.K. charts, but I don't remember it at all. (Aged 11, probably just before I had my own transistor radio; I would have needed a 'Top of the Pops' TV memory, and I don't have one. Later, my sister had various 'Greatest Hits' albums of Elvis, but can't recall this being on any , of those either ...). It's lovely. Elvis in fine voice and a great story.

It's been a long time since I have heard this song and now I am adding it to my playlist. It's a beautiful song. Adam Lambert has been compared to Elvis in looks and I see some similarities at different looks of his. I have been watching a number of videos people have posted of The Queen + Adam Lambert European tour that just started in Belfast this weekend. I don't think you have reacted to him yet. His voice is amazing. I love seeing people's first reactions when they hear him. I think a lot of people start by watching him singing Cher's song Believe to Cher at The Kennedy Center Honors. I'm enclosing a link of him singing his song Ghost Town with Queen at their Rock in Rio concert. They changed it up a bit and it rocks!
