Special D means “special delivery” that was a mail delivery option. It isn’t an option anymore. I think it ended at the same time as airmail. Hair style was courtesy of Brillcream. It was still available up until sometime in the mid 70’s.

The legendary "Meat Loaf", his real name is Marvin Lee Aday, passed away this past Thursday. He was an amazing singer and actor. He has LOTS of music out there, but the song you should hear first for you to understand Meat Loaf is his song called "Paradise By The Dash Board Lights". YOU'LL LOVE IT!! Jane H commenting …. This was one of my favourite Elvis songs when I was a younger teenager. I heard it first when I was around 10, on the radio. It was always being played. Then I saw the movie, & thought Elvis was the most handsome man I had ever seen. By the time I was 15, in the mid-60s, I was a big Elvis fan & could hardly wait for his next movie or song to come out. Great Reaction. You are so funny.

Love this song by Elvis. He performed this in the film Girls! Girls! Girls! in 1962. I enjoy watching a lot of his old movies even though they were a bit corny, but the music was always great. Elvis is one of the best singers that has ever lived. He was also a fabulous entertainer. There is a reason he is called "The King". He had a great voice & could sing anything whether it was ballads, gospel or rock.

Special 'D' = Special delivery... I remember listening to this song as a 6 yr old, through 4 transistor radio and wondering why he was sending his girlfriend a letter filled with 'cinders', and then after her receiving it she then 'rode a pony'. Very confusing to such a young mind. 🤪

The line in the song "No such zone" was just before the post office introduced ZIP codes. ZIP stands for Zone Improvement Plan. Prior to that, there were no 5 digit zip codes, just a zone number within a particular city.

The hair gel was probably Dixie Peach Pomade. And it's "special D" for "special delivery." Understandable that a younger person wouldn't know that type of postal delivery. Love that you love Elvis!

Just alittle trivia on this particular Elvis performance of return to sender, its written Jackie Wilson was on set visiting w Elvis as they were great friends during this performance u can see Elvis smiling off to the side as he does this little twist notice the hand gestures so the story states that Elvis was looking at Jackie as Elvis did alittle signature moves of Jackie Wilson's and Jackie loved it..loved this story..

My lucky mom saw Elvis in 57 at her high-school football stadium. Dressed in those beautiful black loose fitting slacks and shirt. Unbelievably she couldn't find a taker for her second ticket.

Special D means by Special Delivery. Sending mail that way meant your letter would be guaranteed to be delivered. You had to be extra for Special Delivery.

Hello again, Elvis is doing a modified twist. In order to do it right you have to balance on the balls of your feet with your feet shoulder width apart. You shift your weight from one foot to another while you twist in place and then for more movement and rotation you twist both feet at once, you have to bend your knees as you twist if you were good you could twist to the floor and back up with out loosing balance. The action is in the hips, you keep your shoulders straight and your hands move in time to the music and as balance.--give it a try it's great for the abs..and its "Special D" as in Special Delivery and in 1962 men used Brill Cream a sort of gel like substance

During the early part of his career, Elvis went to a nightclub to watch Jackie Wilson perform. Jackie would perform some of Elvis's songs and his moves. Elvis was so impressed with him, they became life-long friends. Its been claimed that Jackie was in this nightclub audience scene while Elvis did his impression of him.

Wilson was clearly in the movie audience. Right when Elvis starts singing you can see him look to his left, do a quick double take and smile when he spots Wilson. It is after spotting Wilson that Elvis starts doing the famous Jackie Wilson moves. Near the end of the video they have a long shot over the top of the audience. Wilson is sitting at a table just to the left of center and can be seen snapping his fingers.

Sent it special d (for delivery) back in the day, in the way back machine, we had to mail stuff. When it was important we would send it special delivery, meaning extra care was given to make sure it arrived at its destination.

Special D is special delivery. If you want to return a piece of mail without paying for another stamp you can write "return to sender" and send it back if you didn't open it. I believe he used Brille Cream. It was a kind of gel.
