Lansky Brothers owner & Founder interposed dressed all the big Blue Players of the Day. Bb King, Howling wolf, Ray Charles, THOUSANDS. When Elvis went to prom Lansky's dressed him. It was Lansky's founder who showed Elvis at 17 to pop his collar. If you go to Lansky's in Memphis on Beale Street the founders son will show you photos and tell you all about it. 🥰 Bill Beleau (sp?) Says the reason he picked the huge collars and sleeves were to inspire an Edwardian Prince type feel. He wanted to do a spin off on the already popular pointed collars of the 1970's. That is who designed his off stage wear too. You can totally see the edwardian feel in the baby blue suit from the Madison Square garden press confrence.

'The Peacock' is said to have been Elvis' own favourite jumpsuit. The suit was a beauty, as is the majestic bird on which it was based. Astonishingly, it was auctioned off in 2008 and fetched the $300,000 mentioned in this video. Unsurprisingly, this sell off caused a huge negative reaction among fans worldwide. My personal favourite is the Turquoise (or Aqua Blue Vine), which again was auctioned off by a private collector. The Sundial suit was his favourite in his final year only, mainly because it was the most comfortable by then.

This is incorrect. Gene Doucette mentioned that all suits made after 74 (embroidered ones) were adaptable to his weight gain. His last new suit he wore on stage in October 76 would fit him easily at the end as it was done for Elvis when he was at his largest up to that time (summer of 76) - and when he lost significant amount of weight for fall 76 tours, it was way too large for him. Sundial was made in 74 and when EP wore Arabian 74 suit at the very latest shows, he wore it with original belt - not with larger belt made for V-Neck suit from 1975. In 77 he wore Indian Feather, Rainfall, Sundial and Arabian. Sundial and Arabian are from 74, Indian Feather (IMO his most beautiful jumpsuit!) and Rainfall are from 75. Fire suit from 76 would easily fit him in 77 but that suit was way too "flashy" even for him and he wore it just twice on stage in October 76.

@@petrcejka2125 thank you for correcting this person 100% Gene Doucette designed all of Elvis’s jumpsuit’s and still makes them to this day for tribute artist/ Elvis Impersonators you should actually look into the story about it it’s actually quite cool because he wasn’t making them and then a fan made up a couple himself and they were so good that him and gene meet and he was blown away with how good they were and that the guy asked for his permission before selling them that gene gave him the Original patterns for the jumpsuits and helps the guy make them to this day

Well Elvis did allllllllllllll the time lol. He gave everything away too! He gave all his clothing pre-1965 away to Col Parker and it was cut up and sold with records!!!! All the Nudie (Cohn) Suits were spared cause he was a HUGE NAME designer back then it! The Gold lume' suit, the cream suit with black stitches from Clambake(?), and the red & white western suit suit from Loving You with neck hankie. Parker kept all those and Graceland had to sue him to have them returned after Elvis' death. Elvis threw away the '68 comeback clothes - leather suit, white & red suit, and blue pajama suit. They spared them from the trash and were gifted to Graceland after Elvis' death too!!!

EXACTLY! The peacock was his absolute favorite one! Elvis had MAJOR HEALTH problems I don't think most people realize. He wasn't your average 42yr old male. He had HORRIFFIC Glaucoma, he had to get shots directly in his Iris to lower his eye pressure to avoid going blind. Hence the dark glasses. His colon they wanted to remove and give him a bag, he had Cushings syndrome, hence his deceased abdomen, swollen fingers & face. He had type 2 Diabetes, He had fluid on his heart, fatty liver disease, he was suppose to under go dialysis before he left for tour. He had Traumatic Brain Injury which was responsible for his erratic behavior, temper, OCD, forgetting lyrics, after 3 MAJOR Brain blows in 15 years. Maybe you should read " Destined to die young". Elvis had MAJOR health problems from birth. There is WAY more to that story. His mom, Grandma Doll & 6 of his 8 uncles all died in their 40's. He took perscriptions to deal with his Genetic health problems, his enlarged paralyzed colon, Glaucoma, Antitrypsin Deficiency, a condition which can result in lung and/or liver disease both of which he had severely at the time of his death. Elvis was never a smoker or drinker. He had Together with the immune system disorder, hypogammaglobulinemia, which plagued Elvis all his life and caused him to constantly fight various infections. His “inherited” weak heart, reactive arthritis, and the impact of his nocturnal lifestyle, resulting in a lack of vitamin D, the effects of which contributed to respiratory infections, reduced immune function, and inflammation. Of the 11 bodily systems that operate to keep us alive and hopefully healthy. Critically, Elvis suffered disease or disorder in nine of them! And five were present from birth and pre his fame. His heart (circulatory system), his lungs (respiratory system), and his bowels (digestive/excretory systems) required medication. Insomnia affected his nervous system……His immune system was compromised. His urinary system was not functioning properly. At one point there was even talk of dialysis. Often he is dismissed as just another rock ‘n’ roll drug addict. He wasn't taking street drugs. He was taking perscriptions not to "ESCAPE" h was taking them to try to maintain some sense of normalcy as himself in a time where the medical field was limited. No DNA, Genetics, No MRI's, little known about the addiction, his dystrophy & No understanding of Vitamin D even. Looking at the illnesses and disorders, that mounted upon each other over the decades, it’s no coincidence that Elvis’ prescription drug use increased as his health declined. From ear infections to chronic tonsilitis to recurrent flus to eye infections and glaucoma…..these arguably insignificant ailments independently, grew into something more. As his body broke down, alongside multiple immune system disorders and genetic complications, prescription medication and his handy PDR tried to fill the gaps. When that no longer worked, hospital stays became the norm and his list of ailments grew. The sicker he got, the more prescriptions he was prescribed. He was seeing a cardiologist before he bought Graceland. He was 20yrs old. They have gone through Elvis's entire life of medical records & now have an entire different story now. This is all the facts Geraldo & 20/20 never stated. www.practicalpainmanagement.com/pain/other/brain-injury/elvis-presley-head-trauma-autoimmunity-pain-early-death www.tapatalk.com/groups/elvismomentsintime/elvis-how-sick-he-really-was-t9896.html

Hello from England Those JUMPSUIT outfits were AMAZING. So individual because ELVIS was a "ONE OFF" human being. Although i was only 12 when he died i still love him today. I have watched numerous videos of his buddy Tom Jones from around 1970-4 and Tom wore some AMAZING outfits. Bell bottom trousers and floaty shirts open almost down to his navel. and high heeled shoes. I know from interviews Tom has given over the years the leather outfits Elvis had were purchased from North Beach Leather as Tom had also got his leather outfits from there. Can you imagine if Elvis had come to the UK on tour and they both "SWAGGERED" on to ANY STAGE . I am sure Tom would have been game to wear JUMPSUITS Oh those days were so much better music wise. NO HORRIBLE AUTOTUNE and TECH that we have now.

when Elvis met the young Osmond Brothers, he took them under his wing and told them to smarten up ("get macho") their stage wear with individualized jumpsuits. The boys took his advice and it DID finish their 'look' and helped them climb. Elvis was slightly influenced by Liberace whom he met in the late 1956 in Las Vegas where Elvis didn't do too well, as the conservative and older audience were more into tuxedoed Frank Sinatra, Joey Bishop & Sammy Davis Jr.

@petrcejka2125

According to Gene Doucette this is not correct. He mentioned, that all suits made since 1974 could have been adjusted to size he wore at the end. Also - I dont think that in June 77 he was at his "largest" period - I think that in August 76/September 76 he was considerably larger. When you look at his pictures from April / May 1977 and even from Kansas City 77 when he wore Spades suit, he wore original belt for it - few inches enlarged (as in case of Sundial - with a bit blank space near the belt buckle) but it was still original belt from 1974. Considering this - I think that suits from 1975 and especially the last one from 1976 (which was worn in October 76 only, when he lost considerable amount of weight and suit was obviously very large for him) would probably fit to him very well - just with belt maybe slightly enlarged. I really dont think that suits made for him in 1974 (which is Mexican or Spades) were larger than suits made for him in 1975 or even 1976. Just consider this - with white Bicenntenial Eagle suit, he regularly wore Egyptian suit belt. Look at size of this belt in September 1976 (as it was extended), then look how much weight he lost when he wore Egyptian suit with its original belt (just different buckle) in Birmingham in Dec 76... and now look how much Spades or Sundial belts were extended in 1977. EP wasnt limited only to Sundial.

Elvis wore the Sundial Jumpsuit so much in his final year only because it was one of the few suits he owned that still fit (sadly he'd gained a lot of weight in the two years of his life).

He was fit for 40 years or his 42 years of life and you had to mention that...Wow, talk about having no sense of humanity. Did you enjoy telling this true or untrue fact. Well Karma is for real and it comes back at you 10 fold stronger..Plus he wasn't as heavy as people make him out to be. It's those God ugly Elvis impersonators that give people the idea that he was enormous. But yes he was over weight and more bloated from the prescription drugs. You can see that in his last televised concert. Your a jerk...sorry, but you are.

@Dave Roberts Really David? My point being if you read my comment, was it necessary to bring the fact that the last two years of his life was when Elvis pretty much was really over weight...What was his point? Let's forget everything before that and concentrate on his weight and his addiction. Keep re enforcing the lowest time of his life and forget mention all the achievements he had. This is what has happened! Your the one that knows nothing and has no idea of what being a decent human being means. Let's just all dwell on the fact that his weight is the his biggest legacy he left. Jerk or maybe troll,your the one that knows nothing about decency or kindness or empathy. Hope people remember the lowest and most terrible point of your life and forget everything that you may have accomplished. Then you'll understand what I'm saying. And yes, I've seen terrible Elvis impersonators and he was also bloated probably because of the addition which added to his weight gain. In 1974 and 1975 he gained weight but nothing to extreme to even mention.

Liberace & Elvis were friends in the early days of Elvis career Liberace advised Elvis he needed a image & offered dress advice to look Great on stage etc which sexy Elvis always did👄 the lady talking puts on Elvis world Jump suits etc . She is lovely & I have spoken to her at the 02 London 1st Elvis memorabilia it was Fabulous. 2nd time the memorabilia was shown in London at the 02 was very disappointing very bad lighting not much there & the lady was not there on that trip 02 organised it. They did a appalling job to Elvis memory. Head phones not working etc very commercial & did not enjoy. Elvis was not cheap to his fans he gave his all. My life plan is Memphis hope it is not tacky & commercial. Priscilla keep it classic & classy as fans will not be treated cheap.

🥰 Bill Belew (sp?) Says the reason he picked the huge collars and sleeves were to inspire an Edwardian Prince type feel and frame his perfect face. He wanted to do a spin off on the already popular pointed collars of the 1970's. That is who designed his off stage wear too. You can totally see the edwardian feel in the baby blue suit from the Madison Square garden press confrence.

Elvis’ manager, Col. Tom Parker, said in a press conference shortly after his death: “Elvis didn’t die. The body did. We’re keeping up the good spirits. We’re keeping Elvis alive. I talked to him this morning and he told me to 'carry on.’” (Elvis did not die and he wanted out. - Col. Tom Parker. 1977) After hearing so many stories about the death of Elvis Presley, I have decided to tell the world the real story on the facts concerning that day in August, 1977. Yes, that day, the 16th of August. Is it a coincidence that a person born on that January 8, first month, eighth day, would perish on the 8th month and the 16th day? Probably if two (2) people were born on that day it makes more sense. You see, numerology always played an important part of my life and still does today. So many people have written or spoke about my death as a hoax. It was not a hoax! I decided to reinvent myself in the form of my brother (Jesse Garon) and yes, Elvis Presley did die that day. But after much searching for the right people, I found several people from different states who I consider my most loyal and trustworthy friends. To some people this book will be just another scandalous piece of fiction, but when you are done I think you will think otherwise. I always felt my brother deserved to live and what better way to let him live his life than to end mine. I was lonely, depressed, in bad health and my numerology chart said that this was the time for it to come to end. Anyone who studies numerology will understand, those who don't may want to look into it. All of the facts (and there are many) even the experts will say they are more than coincidences. I no longer give away Cadillacs or expensive pieces of jewelry because I am nothing more than a man who had a very famous brother. I am not a great literate (I never wrote my own songs), but I am not illiterate either. The perfect day August 16, 1977, 1 + 9 + 7 + 7 = 24, my age backwards (42), the facts go on and on. But my true reasons for the book are for my fans. My death was not a hoax! To my fans, please forgive me, my brother deserved to live, he was with me constantly (spiritually). My life would not be the same had he lived at birth. This was my way of giving him life, and corny as it sounds. The Colonel took this secret to his grave. He was a loyal friend. But I will no longer stand by and have people like Gail Brewer tell you stories that are pure fiction. This book written by a true friend will help you realize why I did what I did. - The Truth About Elvis Aron Presley In His Own Words. (2001). My fascination with the idea of a hoax about death was when Jim Morrison died July 3rd, 1971. Although I saw no correlation (he died at age 27) I was astounded that as famous as he was the body was just closed up and shipped out. Now I don't know all the facts concerning his death. I thought it awfully strange that no autopsy was performed (or so I thought) and just forgotten about. There were a lot of rumors about his death. I noticed he was born on the 8th day. Born in 1944 = 1-8 and died in 1971 = 1-8. Remember my comeback in 1968? 1+9+6+8 = 24. Obviously, I was no longer 24, so I reversed the age to 42. The next time that number had any relevance was 1977 (1+9+7+7 = 24 when I would be 42. Numerology can and does play an important part of my life and we knew that would have to be the date. Most people if they know what to look for will find significance in the forms of numbers in all of my movies! Example: gravestone in " Loving You" (year) 1878 = ? (1+8+7+8 = 24). You have to look at the movies. My hero James Dean died at the age of 24, but I was on top of the world then and wanted to live. - The Truth About Elvis Aron Presley In His Own Words. (2001). I will start about 1974 when the thought first came to me about faking my death. I have always been fascinated with the occult and other spiritual things. When I first saw a wax dummy of myself made by a Mr. Cooper I was fascinated with it. For some time I had thought if it was possible? Could I pull this thing off? I had asked Mr Cooper if he could make another wax dummy for me. He said he could. I in turn said I wanted him to do it and keep it strictly confidential. When I had mentioned it to a very few close friends (Joe Esposito, Larry Geller) they did not think I was serious. I was tired of being Elvis Presley, my health was deteriorating. I just couldn't keep up. My finances were floundering because of my daddy's poor business ventures. I was at my wit's end. As the years progressed I had my ups and downs which are pretty well documented in other books. I also had two detectives from Colorado who I trusted immensely. Originally the date was 1976 according to my numerology charts but I chickened out. A pact was made on the grounds of Graceland one night, hands placed over hands that this secret would never be spoken of outside this room. I picked four (4) of us initially and to this day all have kept the secret. I also know when this book reaches the bookstores people (my loyal friends) will be heartbroken. They took care of me and convinced others that I was no longer alive. In reality Elvis Presley died that day and my twin brother "Jesse" came to life, living in hiding but as a normal human being. I skip around because I am writing stream of consciousness. My own Daddy bless his soul never knew the truth. Little Lisa was told months later and explained to her she would not see me much. The Colonel took this secret to his grave. Many people believe me to still be alive but I was told in the beginning there would be no contact in order for this to work. I go thru a lot of ups and downs since 1977 and have lived in many states but I insisted I needed to be in a warm climate. My personal thoughts are that my fans will understand. That is very important to me. I just could not face myself any more after seeing myself in the mirror and that is where Larry Geller came in. He asked if he could write a book, and I gave him my blessing. "If I Can Dream" is the title and I like his book. He had filled my head with spiritual thoughts and made me believe we could pull this off. If I had stayed longer I think I would have been booed off the stage. That is why I chose the date 8-16-77. Do you know how many famous people passed away on that date? The great Robert Johnson died on 8-16 and he was born in 1935! Babe Ruth, and Bela Lugosi and many others. I must say I was very nervous that day 8-16. But it had to be done before I went on the road where I would not have been able to pull it off. Did you know there are secret compartments in Graceland that very few people know about! A few like Vester would joke about my being alive but no one took him serious. Many of my friends would ask if I were still alive and they have their doubts but as it was I might have died broke and just a shell of myself. I was given an injection that looked like I was dead but the people closest to me knew better. Believe me I had my doubts that this could be pulled off. But it did and I became Jesse, just a poor white southern boy who didn't sing a lick of anything. I feel bad my Daddy wasn't allowed to know but it just couldn't be done. I better go now and collect my thoughts to tell you the rest next time. - The Truth About Elvis Aron Presley In His Own Words. (2001). Eventually, by the mid 70s, it was a bit too much, long hair, sideburns and jumpsuits. It would have been better if Elvis had cut his hair a little shorter, lost the side burns and lost some weight and less of the jumpsuits.
