That is a musically historic fund that is a massive part of our culture and just pop culture in general. Elvis was the KING and this may have been his parting vehicle in a sense. Thanks for restoring it or at least cleaning it up to preserve for future generations. I'm sure this vehicle will be relevant even 100+ more years from now.
They are both dead. I am retired from the Memphis Fire Dept. The paramedic died in a mysterious plane crash in the Caribbean after he gave an interview to the enquirer shortly after Elvis died. The EMT was Ulysses Jones. I worked with him. He later became a Lieutenant on the MFD and then a Battalion chief. He died around 10 years ago. He would not talk about that day AT ALL except to say “All I’m gonna say is ‘that man was dead’”….didn’t matter what you asked him, that was all he would say. It was very odd.
Spa guy finding the ambulance really was like Indiana Jones going in to the jungle to find an artifact! The story how it was found, the Elvis connection to people who are in Memphis is more fascinating to me than the actual vehicle.
Elvis Presley King of Rock and Roll I've always loved Elvis Presley I'm glad you found this Ambulance and bringing back the history of it I can't believe it's still around
This is a precious part of history and I was supposed to have been born on August 16 1978 was my original due date but Mom had me in July 78’ RIP Elvis Presley
You are fantastic Men . Thank you for working for Elvis memories . Thanks from many Miles away But you are on my Mind Friends. Gruß aus Hamburg Germany Stephan
I'm glad Billy was able to purchase this historic ambulance and I hope that he can restore it to it's 1970's new like condition. I respect his passion and drive to be doing all of this. Sadly Elvis was dead the time he was found on his bathroom floor and it was just too late to save him. Like mentioned before in the comments, he was gone before that rescue vehicle came and it was a body transport at that stage. May he rest in peace always.
spa guy you are the greatest, thank you for getting this great piece of history for all elvis fans to see.I feel like the fly was elvis making sure you cleaned it just right!!!!
Spa guy, James, Is right. That would be so great if you can find some of the Paramedics that was In The Ambulance that day. And you could interview them.. That would make for one good video. Thank you
Oh wow, all cleaned up Incredible Billy thanks for all your efforts too..God Bless I was pregnant with my daughter she's 43 and I remember exactualy where I was when his death came on radio KLIF Dallas Texas...I was 19 at the time Big fan of Elvis, I was 5 yrs young my older siblings took me to see first Elvis movie to a theater in McKinney Texas I can't remember which movie it was though....1963-64
He was gone when that ambulance arrived. Sadly. Hate typing that, as I also hate that it was too late to save such a mercurial, and fantastic star. Deserved to be saved while still alive. I will never understand the choices made & accepted by those at a clearly high level .. & going out much too young.
Fantastic Video!!!! Good to See you on RU-vid!....Frank from Jersey.....Me, My Wife & our 2 Sons visited you at work and you showed us the Ambulance in 2019!!!!
Like anything else, you have to be careful about restoring something as opposed to not restoring things. Knowing Billy and his contacts with the curator from Elvis estate , he may have reached out as to get their thoughts . As far as cleaning the vehicle, Billy in his regular business would be the perfect guy to approach the cleaning part of this project. Cleaning to disinfect mold and whatever as health hazards to make sure using the right products to bring this historical piece back so the public can see a tangible piece from that time is important. Talk about the right man for the job. The more I think about how this ambulance even exists is mind boggling. Right place, right time, right people and the right person with Billy to have found it and know what to do with it. Great video!
i like the spa guy who's telling that elvis was an human person, it's really true, he was not Gos as jesus but he bring so much in our lives, each time that you've got the blues put a cd or 33, 45 rpm and all the things will goes better listening Elvis, Thanks to Elvis to make me know The Savior God Jesus through his gospel music...greating from France Dominique
Thanks God stuff for the coverage. Rjanks Spa Guy for finding it, cleaning it and getting displayed. Its great Vince bought it so it didn't get scrapped..I only wish they had taken more care with it.
Wow! Glad to see the ambulance brought back to where it all began! Well almost! But that's cool, it should be restored and in the museum where the ticket report is explaining Elvis doa arrival.
Poor old Ambulance. Thank God it was saved. And that it looks fairly good for being pulled out of years of weeds grass a nd trees. Are you planning on restoring it. It DOSENT look to far gone. Seen alot worse fixed like new. Good job on tracking it down and saving it again. Please look after it . This is as much of history as all things part of people who changed so many lives forever. Even if it was his last ride. I'm sure Elvis would be happy .
@@apaladin Usually they didn't but this case was different, it was Elvis! He was not only dead but he had been dead for about 4-5 hours!!!!!!! He was cold, blue and VERY DEAD.
Please preserve it, don't restore it. People want to see the ambulance that once carried Elvis, not a bunch reproduction parts and shiny new paint that wasn't present for that moment in history.
I often find and fix up old equipment, be it an old machine, small engine, rollaway tool box, tools, whatever. I agree with Spa Guy. Keep it clean, original and functioning, but retain the "battle scars" for now as that showing this piece of equipment's story. A friend of mine who battled cancer once told me, as I have related in other videos, "Why are you going to paint that tool box? It has scars in life, just like we do. Those scars tell the story of the tools it held and the people that owned it. Think of how many things were fixed with the tools that were in this tool box" She convinced me to keep the patina, and she's right. I made them roll, slide, lock and function as new, but I just cleaned them up so that they were in good shape to put good tools in. Billy is doing the same thing here. As people that restore things will tell you, "They are only original once". It can always be repainted and restored and I think that day will come for it, just not now. That's my .02.
I was 12 years old when my mom told us Elvis die that killed us all we all was crying my mom my dad and all four of us kid's was to it was just we lost a family member are heart and are life's changed that day i remember where i was in my home when she told us ..i miss him so much
Hey Spa Guy…. Was this Ambulance used for the re-enactment scene in the documentary film “THIS IS ELVIS”? It looks just like it. I was wondering if the directors Andrew Scott & Malcom Leo went for full authenticity…. They did have the Jeep at the Guard Shack. Also they were able to gain access and film upstairs…. I would love to see more footage of the upstairs that didn’t make it to the final cut in the film. I’m sure its somewhere. I bet you could find it.
No matter what it is history even so it is sad but it has to be told and save like anyone that is so famous like Elvis you have to go with good and the bad for the whole story can be told
Met some nice people from Michigan today at the pig on Beale they came in for lunch they were at Graceland today if you ever come over to Beale street you will see a lot of Elvis stuff and we have the old movie posters of his movies and the Elvis estate donated his guitar and his daughter donated one as well it is a awesome place to visit if you love Elvis and old music and history
Speaking of Graceland I was 12 years old when I saw Elvis house and I drive by there almost every week or so can not get over there changes that were made love to go back and see the new part they built and see the house again after they clean it out and open more up to the public told them about the Ambulance and the tiger man DoJo they can not wait until that is open as well I can not wait until it is open now that found it online. I still have my old Graceland ticket when I was there and Few of things I collected in my scrape book along with a sign picture that I got at his last concert when I was 4 years old with my uncle
Please “Restore” the ambulance and bring it back to life. It might take some work to do it but, it would be great to see it fully restored. Maybe you can find a 1974/75 stretcher and other things donated to put the inside of the unit (rear) back together too.
Elvis was gone by the time that unit ambulance showed up to Graceland and I mean hours passed away gone. He should have been pronounced DOA on scene at Graceland. But he was EP they had to try to do something. Now I believe folks if it where Linda Thompson that night who always checked on Elvis he would have maybe been alive he today. But Ginger laid there sleeping like sleeping beauty hours after Elvis passed before waking and finding him gone. Now that’s history folks!
I heard that there is a video or interview somewhere of one of the paramedics saying that when he first saw Elvis ,lying on the bathroom floor.... The paramedic thought it was a black man. That kinda makes you think he was already gone.... I'd like to hear the rest of the paramedics story. Hopefully someone or others will come forward & complete the story. RIP EAP. 😢
This is odd seeing Billy being interviewed. This is the first time I've seen anyone interview him. I'm glad their not totally going to restore the ambulance. It does tell more of a story. If you totally restore it, it's just another ambulance. Just clean it up and, put it back to working order.
I heard too the hearse that carried Elvis .down Blvd. Was burned up in a fire ...I was on Graceland tour in the house back in 1985 a Ambulance came to Graceland an picked somebody up in the house ?
Thank you. A pressure washer was not used because the paint is so compromised after so many years outside, it would have likely taken most of the ambulance down to the primer coat.
I can’t get that website, where this ambulance is. My mom saw Elvis in Ottawa,Canada in 1955. She says that she couldn’t hear anything with all the screaming girls. She went with a few girls and got dropped off by one of their brothers. My mom is 79 and just had quadruple bypass surgery in January 2021. I would love to see another update on this ambulance or get the ones that own it to learn computers. It’s too bad that Elvis’ hearse was burnt on the side of a road. I think you might be able to see the body of it, without wheels, front end etc.
I think everyone agrees that there is a macabre aspect to it. But so does much of history, I suppose. Every cemetery and headstone holds a creepy element.
Billy, please do a video where you show the museum and all its contents and then charge people to view it...this way people that can’t make it there can still see it and it will help support you and the people that helped your vision come to fruition...think about it anyway...it could produce more money for the cause too. Thanks
WHILE GRACELAND STANDS PROUD TODAY, it seems some things are continuously missing or dissociated from its vast musical history. Say like LITTLE THINGS MEAN A LOT. And not just LOT but a PRIZED JEWEL. So along came Mr. SPAGUY and his able buddy Mr. TREY manifesting indefatigable dedication to all matters or things associated with the unparalleled achievements and/or significant events in the life and saga of the WORLD's GREATEST POP MUSIC IDOL IN ALL GENERATIONS and to the MAN himself of course. Otherwise, this EP '"TIGER MAN DOJO MUSEUM" looks so distant to be viewed as just an ordinary physique enhancement house. That AMBULANCE will surely reverberates the waves of grief and tears of all those who never waived their unfaltering love to THE GUY WHO STARTED IT ALL. GOOD LUCK and MAY GOD GUIDE AND BLESS ALL YOUR ENDEAVORS YOU MEN WHO STEER WHEELS OF THE HOUSE!!!
