Please Note: In Blue Hawaii, Elvis' girlfriend didn't own the agency where they worked. Also, both assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. were in 1968, but not JFK's. Sorry about that.

They don't look the same. I think it's more the mannerisms than the looks. I am a huge Elvis fan, and I wasn't sure about watching the movie. I did end up watching it,and it was good.
There are some scenes in the movie where Austin really resembles Elvis, especially from a distant camera shot, but most importantly, Austin captured Elvis's essence and spirit, as well as his movements. He really did put a lot of work in it!
Austin did a great job who ever said that he didn’t transform into Elvis is blind, he sang, danced and spoke like the king, I cried so much it was unreal that so many people claim to have loved Evis so much specially Prescilla and his father and nobody tried to make him feel loved or protect him from that monster that was his manager all they wanted was what they took from him I wonder were did they go after Elvis died to milk cows for a living very sad what friends and family 😢
There will never be a true Elvis story he never told it only what they wanted to to tell their story version they have lived off of Elvis and still living off him she isn't a Presley anymore and hasn't been for decades
Well, I cried at the end of the movie, but it wasn't because of Austin Butler's performance. It was seeing the clips of Elvis's final performance (which I saw live via satellite) and news footage from the day that Elvis died. I remember where I was on that day. Time stood still. I've been an Elvis fan since I was 4 years old. There will never be another Elvis Presley.
Oh, me too!!! I cried because Elvis was exploited by the leeches by which he was surrounded. Col. Parker was one of the reasons that Elvis died when he did. So sad...
@@dianab5286 he actually did fire th Col at one point, & is correct Col gave him outlandish bill, Also he NEEDED th pillsuppwrsdowners, painkillers/ opioids. to keep up hectic schedule , over booked concerts,. was thegreed of th Col. & he worked E to death .!!
@@Memow-pk1ng I was not aware of Elvis firing the Col. That is sad! The Colonel was a nasty person with a huge gambling addiction. He was what I call "a lost soul".
Not trying to be negative, but you can tell Butler from the real Elvis. Butler was great portraying Elvis. But no one can pull off the real Elvis Presley.
Neither the writer, director, producer, or Butler ever attempted to convince anyone he was Elvis. It was always meant/advertised as a biopic. That is why there are so many pictures of Elvis, and cuts from his concerts and movies in this movie. There have been several other movies made about Elvis--and no one thought they were Elvis or a replacement for him!
You are right, no one can pull off the real Elvis and no one ever tried and wants to. You are completely missing the point here. Also, nobody can ever pull off looking and acting like you and so on.
Acredito que ele quis dizer que nas cenas rápidas tem que olhar bem pra ver quem é um e quem é o outro. Austin está muito bem caracterizado. Aquelas cenas que tem vários quadros atrás de Austin.
To his credit Austin did sing the early E. No one could match E, matured voice, many impersonators have come close. Suspicious Minds, & ending Unchained Melody were definitely Elvis !!.
Nearly God Priscilla said about Elvis ?! When Elvis said Jump Priscilla said How High?? Only 1 God and Elvis himself would of disagreed with Priscilla. Please, check out Elvis singing religious song it is also earth shattering !!!! God gave the king his amazing talents and nobody will be able to fill his shoes NOBODY !!!! RIP king, Grandson Benjamin and Lisa Marie !!
He looks even relevently close to Elvis. . No matter how Hollywood wants to make money from a movie portraying Elvis, they won't even close. There is Only ONE Elvis.
@@sherriianiro747 Don Johnson was worst. , they were both made for tv, & the mini series Elvis & Me, 88, Dale Midkiff, Susan Walters, was based on Prisc. book,, & I be live that's the way it was .
Made lisa marie presley very happy and her opinion is what matters. I think she liked austin cause of all the studying and hours of work he put into it . The voice and mannerisms. He did a great job
I agree 👍 it made Lisa happy and that matters a ton, but apparently it portrayed Elvis as being an unhappy and miserable person and his family (Smith's) said he wasn't like that at all. Elvis for the most part was a happy person with a good sense of humor. They did give kudos to Austin Butler's acting but thought the Tom Hanks portrayal of Parker was odd. One thing they pointed out was Parker didn't have an accent...
DISGRACEFUL. JUST MAKING BANK ON THE MAN THAT WAS ELVIS. PRIZILLA WILL NEVER STOP UNTIL SHE DROPS. I'm old enough to be his biggest fan and for years all she did was talk smack about him, now anything will do as long as she's in front of the camera. Elvis had at least 10 drugs in him when he died, nobody cared. I read 4 yrs ago Benjamin was doing drugs big time, NO COLLEGE, NO JOB, NO CHURCH. Now Lisa Marie is gone, quit school in jr. high. Not saying college is the most important I'm saying no structure, no balance, living for what? interviews? as a child she'd put spinach on her head at the table, would tell fans she'll take a pic of her dad for them and then never return their camera.
You failed to mention the most noticable thing about the movie only true Elvis fans saw. That was the fact that Tom Hanks portrayal of Tom Parker was absolutely horrible. Tom Parker did NOT speak with a Swedish accent. If you were to watch old interviews with him, you will know that Tom Parker spoke with a southern accent.
Parker was originally from The Netherlands/Holland. His given name was very Dutch. If you listen to early interviews of Parker he did have a Dutch accent--he worked to overcome it because it sounded German; definitely NOT popular in the USA post WW II!!
The only person who actually would have looked like Elvis, was his identical twin brother who died at birth. Just think there was almost 2 of them. I feel Austin Butler did an excellent job. He took the role seriously and he worked hard to give us Elvis. I saw Elvis in concert on October 22nd, 1976 in Champaign, Illinois. The show was awesome and I still have my ticket stub. We went as a family, mom, dad, my sisters and me. It was great! And the only reason Garth Brooks passed up Elvis as having sold more records is because Elvis died at the age of 42 and Garth is close to 60 if not older. If Elvis had not passed away, no one would have topped him.
I never really liked Elvis. Then during my 2012 Divorce I was flipping channels and ALOHA From Hawaii began I half interested watched it. By the end I was completely SHOCKED at the talent he had possessed. All I ever heard was a few overplayed songs on radio. Since then, i have learned to play guitar, became an Elvis Collector, and have every album, movie he ever made. He is the Greatest Entertainer that has lived,🎉in my opinion. Yet,his career only lasted ten yrs. The first three. Then the Army, then ten yrs of movie making. Then another seven yrs of live singing again.. sadly dead by the middle of 77. Look at his fans still 50 yrs later.
What was unique about Elvis was he had the widest demographic fan base of any artist. Young and old they'd go see him and amazing after all these decades his fan base is still growing. Graceland is the second most visited home in the US behind the White house which tells u something.
I went into this film with high expectations and ended up loving it. I know they didn't cover every detail exactly right, but I feel like they told his story the best way possible in a feature film.
I would have loved to hear Elvis record that song "I Will Always Love You" that would have been such a wholesome song..... damn it Parker...guess I have to settle with Unchained Melody 🤷♂️🥺❤️
There will never be another Elvis- i saw that movie and i was very unlucky. Right to the end of that film i started to cry 😥😥😥😥for the one and only KING ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
I thought the movie was awful he looked nothing like Elvis and they overplayed the bb king thing and put rap music in it, so disrespectful and Tom hanks with that fake accent was bad
Thank you. I have yet to see the movie but for us who grew up on Elvis music and movies.......for us..... he was our first love. This short video reminds us how much Elvis meant to us and how he was an uncompromising influence to our lives as teenagers growing up in that day. I would like to watch the movie but haven't yet had the opportunity. I am sure this will open up to the modern generation how one man changed the whole face of music and influenced the whole world. His music will gain new fans and his music will reach into their hearts as it did ours. Austin Butler: He gave a dynamic performance but he is not Elvis but he brought Elvis back to us for a moment in time for that we thank him.
You need to correct what you say about Blue Hawaii movie. Chad did not work for agency owned by his girlfriend. She was an employee as well. They planned to own their own agency at the end.....Gates of Hawaii.
To be fair, I watched this movie 3 times to give it a honest judgment.. In my view.. The Elvis movie was way over rated.. it was all headliners and no deep involvement in the storyline. The Presley's only endorsed this movie to help keep the attendance numbers up at Graceland .. but now with Lisa Marie dead. .. .. .. who knows the future of Graceland now..
It was Robert Kennedy, not JFK-- Too bad Baz didn't tell the truth, especially about Priscilla-- she was not a saint and cheated on Elvis twice--- Austin did a fantastic job though
It was a hard movie to watch, had to take breaks, extremely hard seeing all the mistreatment of Elvis, would have liked some scenes where he was happy, hopefully he had some😢, I still remember where I was the day he died, I was 15 yrs old and I mad a scrapbook 🙏 Austin did a good job 👍 RIP Elvis Lisa Marie Benjamin
Great information on things, BUTTTTTTT!!!! You did NOT point out all of the outright lies, or mistruths in this movie that all of us Elvis fanatics know & noticed. Pissed me off really. Because all new Elvis fans and the younger peoople, will believe all the WRONG things in this movie. The attention to visual detail blew me away. 2nd best thing about the movie! First best thing, AUSTIN BUTLER! 💙💙
As an avid Elvis fan too since 1975 when I was 5, I noticed everyone that you are talking about. I do agree it gives casual or new fans the wrong idea, but that what biopics do., bur for a reason. They have to squeeze so much information into a very limited amount of time. However, this story is being told by a dying Parker who is now very old and on morphine. This allows for missteps because our memory always recalls things differently over time, but the story we tell is similar to the actual event. We know Elvis didn't fire Parker on stage, but in the film the curtain is actually closing so it's mor backstage in the film and I real life they did have a shouting match backstage and Elvis did fire him in the same hotel, but up in his room. Trouble wasn't written by Lieber and Stoller until 58 and Elvis performs it in 56, but Parker could have thought it was Trouble since it was used years later as the opener for the 69 Special, a significant moment. Baz gets away with using the lyrics he thinks best fits the scene by the story being told by an old drugged up Colonel. Personally, I think they could have just used Heartbreak Hotel which has a similar arrangement and was a song he did perform at Russwood in 56. There was no riot at Russwood but there were riots at Elvis shows in 56 and 57. They made Elvis' draft having too much to do with Parker, but Parker was still in correspondence with the Pentagon in relation to Elvis possibly getting drafted and did think that if it did happen, they could spin it their way. Elvis wanted Special Services, regardless of what we've been told, who can blame him? But it was Parker who convinced him that it would look bad, and he would be more accepted if everyone knew he was a regular solider. Cops did indeed at some performances threaten to arrest Elvis. They too make the draft look too close to the Russwood even, but again Parker's memory could be off. Litle Richard certainly wasn't a newcomer in 1956, but the point of the scene is that Elvis dug him. It goes over the top making the 68 Special an almost Christmas Special, but Parker did indeed want it to be, and he also wasn't keen on If I Can Dream at first. Elvis didn't meet Steve Binder up on the Hollywood Hill but in his office, but the conversation is legit, and I have no issue with adding where the meeting took place for dramatic affect. The tablecloth contract took place at a diner in Vegas, not the showroom, but it squeezes a performance and the contract into one scene. What I disliked most about the film was the portrayals of Vernon and Gladys. They made Vernon a wimp and Gladys a You Know What.
@@80steen44 You told me nothing I didn't already know. I can add more things, but what for now? You left out all the bullshit that Pricsilla told Baz and he put in the movie. And like Schilling was the only MM portrayed....LMAO!
@@Anita66608 Well I'm sure Baz could have also included Elvis having an affair with Ann Margret right after Priscilla moved into Graceland or how there was a no wives policy on the road after 69. The Memphis Mafia were all mentioned on the bus scene but Billy Smith was portrayed in the movie quite a bit
@@80steen44 Viva la Vegas, released in 64, made in 63, & Prisc moved to G spring 63, cantcall it an affair as neither were married ,..but. E continued having flings, with almost all his co stars, after married ..
I stopped watching that movie a little over half way through couldn't stomach it they disrespected Elvis a lot in that movie making much of the focal point to be about how Elvis wouldn't have made his music without black people and I mean they beat you over the head with that it just felt disrespectful and as a vehicle to push leftist revisionism not like a tribute.
@@chadthechad4365 If you want to go down the deconstructionist route than black Americans wouldn't have created their music without influence from folk and country music created by different white American group's...All music is influenced by other music that came before it it's how music evolves but we don't take away credit from musician's and their art due to it being influenced by other music it's being selectively used because the people making the movie and their ideological lense in which they frame everything these days and apply to everything they make has to deconstruct everything and reconstruct it in a negative sense if it's about white people their cultures and history.
Did you mean the assassination of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. since they happened in the same year and those are what are featured in the movie? I am sure John Kennedy's assassination had an impact too but I am thinking Robert might be who you meant in your video.
Fantastic facts, thank you. My family and I loved the movie. I didn’t think I would, because I'm often distracted by actors overplay or underplay of iconic people, but Austin Butler’s portrayal of Elvis is outstanding. We all felt so sad at the end of the movie. The song caught in a trap, now has a whole new interpretation in our minds. It’s so tragic that the Colonel remained in control to the death of Elvis. All that Elvis achieved under a selfish, greedy man, imagine how much more he could have done with a Manager who cared about him and supported him?
Exactly! I haven't seen the film yet, but as soon as I heard Priscilla and Lisa Marie were involved, I knew it wouldn't be accurate. I'm sure Priscilla is portrayed as the love of his life, but he actually had trouble deciding between her and Anita Wood. When Anita found this out, she walked out on him, making the decision for him. I think Elvis loved each woman he became romantically involved with as much as he was capable. If he had a "love of his life" or "soul mate," my bet would be on Ann-Margret.
@@Angelfire. You are 100% correct with everything you said. Elvis asked Ann to quit her job and stay with him full time but she was too ambitious. They were soul mates, though, in my opinion. Perfect for each other and it’s sad they couldn’t make it work. But yes, you are correct. In the movie, Priscilla is made out to be the love of his life, they acted like Priscilla left him due to his drug use, and that Elvis wanted to get back her later in life. All are categorically false. Elvis asked her for a trial separation shortly after they got married. And they also conveniently forgot to mention that Priscilla cheated on Elvis too (many times) and that Elvis was pressured by Parker and Priscilla’s dad to marry her. That part is sickening
@Kevin Saint exactly! Yet the make Elvis out to be a pedo because of the age gap. My dad was 29 when he married my mom in 1968. She was 16. Things were different back then.
Unbelievable that he won a Oscar and wasn't anything like Elvis in any way form or fashion,HE shook it up alright, like a nervous wreck, difference in dancing or just shaking, poor guy,And NOW LISA MARIE IS GONE??? SCIENTOLOGY IS EVIL TOO,EVERYONE HAS ???? REST EASY LISA MARIE,IM SO CONFUSED AT THIS GUY PLAYING ELVIS,DOESN'T FIT THE ROLE AT ALL...SMH...WHATS UP??
He wore makeup for his concerts and movies roles. He was actually blonde when he was young; because he could not afford hair dye, he blacked it with shoe polish--and even used that on his eyebrows and lashes. As his income grew, he was able to afford hair dye.
Hallo Ging I believe Austin is a nice guy and doing the best for Elvis movie 🎦 he is a great actor in this movie and I'm so excited Austin did winning the golden Globe Award 🎉 he was working very hard for this movie about more at 2years I heard till still now Kurt Russel was my favorite he were also a great actor and be hope for Austin..... 😂 Finger cross 🤞🇦🇹
Austin's performance had me smiling laughing and crying. It was an emotional experience. You can't take your eyes off Austin. He brought Elvis to life. SENSATIONAL!!!
In the movie, they had Elvis moving from the apartment complex to Graceland. Actually, he had purchased his first (ranch style) home before moving to Graceland. Also, in the movie, during his early climb to success, Elvis is seen singing a song that he would not sing until he made King Creole.
They can only hit on so many things in a movie unless you make it 10 hours long and nobody wants to sit through that. This is not a documentary but a movie based on Elvis' life
@@haw3455 Of course. But they could have shown all three locations in one five second shot. Don't do a bio unless you have the facts. They didn't have many.
Next time call them and tell them all the things they need to pack into the movie otherwise it's just not a good movie. I just don't get how they got so many nominations when they left out all these important facts, beats me

Lol it baffles me how many poeple are saying the movie did not do Elvis justice... hate to bring it to you folks but... even Priscilla (Elvis's ex wife) and Lisa Marie (hes own Daughter, may she rest in peace!) said Austin literaly gained Elvis's aura or soul or something and they said if Elvis sall this he'd be impressed. Now, as it comes to agreeing on different opinions i think its fair to say chosing between poeple who ACTUALLY knew him vs poeple who only seen him on a pixelated screen... yeah, your opinions are irrelevant sorry, hm not sorry.
Sorry to disappoint you, but Butler did in fact portray Elvis. Perhaps you mean he doesn’t meet your expectations but, by definition, Butler irrefutably portrayed Elvis by representing him dramatically in a film.
Wasn't even legal citizen, that's why wouldn't allow E to perform outside US. He only cared abt his own fatass, took 50% of E earnings, gambled it away ,. Overbooked concerts, worked E to death . He nixed the movie E wanted to star in, & been perfect for part" A Star is Born" bcz Streisand would get top billing . Kept E making silly, same plot, E hated , &, but they made money .

SOME medicine have a weight gain as an after effect. Pzrker stole and killed him. Thank you 4 the movie. Please believe there's more to elvis then this movie.. my mom told me so ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕
Fact: every time that Elvis was hospitalized for "exhaustion," he had in fact o'd. He suffered from drug overdoses four times, I think. I read about it in his autopsy.
Or they tried to get him off all those pills, but he needed them, uppers downers painkillers. He visited dentist night before, & autopsy said the strong amount of codeine, adding to already large amounts of his "packet" given every night, is what did him in, od
Well you didn't read about it in his autopsy report, his family had it sealed until 2027, 50 years after his death. I do agree however that he most likely did OD at some point, at least once or twice.. but back then they didn't have recovery centers for addiction or exhaustion so it was the hospital or nothing
@@dwaynecollins4974 That's true. What I actually read is an article from a medical journal, where a doctor had gone over the autopsy and was commenting on it. The key point was whether Elvis died from an overdose and the conclusion was that he did not. The article discussed Elvis' suffering from an autoimmune disorder that had gone misdiagnosed for years. It makes it even more sad that Elvis was really suffering in the few years before he died.

I do not like this movie, austin butler does not look lile Elvis and its just another biopic. I will watch when it come on tv or stream in years a head. The Elvis family is cursed though.
Elvis girlfriend in Blue Hawaii did not own the tourist company Elvis character worked for, she even quits the company, quite a lot of the story is based on impressing the dumb boss of the company.
Nobody’s going to look like Elvis But the guy who played Elvis is a damm good actor. He did do his homework. But come on If it was ok with the Presleys then he’s got my vote.
Before Elvis there was no one. Elvis loved the black people. He wouldn't do some movies if they weren't in in it. .I've liked him.since I was 8. I could go on. N on.
It's been re released in theatres,.. I bought it on blue ray, from Wal-Mart. $23& watched it twice, very entertaining, the costumes/ clothing are spot on &been nominated , plus best pic, actor, cinematography, production design.. should win every award !!
Austin Butler did Elvis justice in his portrayal of him. The storyline of Elvis 2022 was Entertaining but not accurate/off the mark in quite a few places...because of that it did not do Elvis justice
Yes, the movie showed how Elvis was exploited by Andreas. No, the movie did not do Elvis as a human being all that much justice. There were a number of nuances that reinstilled prevalent misrepresentations of Elvis as a person that I can debunk 400%. For one, Priscilla comes off as an innocent angel who left Elvis because Elvis was messing up with women and drugs whilst in truth Priscilla was the cheater who left Elvis to be with their karate instructor whom she'd been having a secret affair with for 2 years behind everyone's backs, Elvis was blindsided by her big time. For seconds, Elvis was not the druggie Priscilla and everyone else has painted him to be; Elvis was medicated daily for valid illnesses and chronic conditions that are simply ignored. Austin's portrayal of Elvis was accomplished and he deserves his award for the effort he put in, but all that heavy make up was not truly Elvis; yet I do understand that Baz, not Austin, is to blame for portaying Elvis as a wannabe drag queen.
The best Elvis Movie was Elvis The Miniseries starring Johnathan Rhyes Meyers as Elvis & Randy Quaid as Tom Parker. It covered Elvis 's beginnings from the time he met Scotty, Bill, & DJ right up to The 68 Comeback Special. John captured Elvis's voice mannerisms to perfection as did Randy with out going over the top. Gladys worrying over her son & leery about Parker. See how she turned to Pills & drink to look good for her son & how it spiraled out of control & Elvis coming home from Ft Hood Texas to be with Gladys one more time & the love for her. He never fired Parker on stage & called him an alien. Elvis never knew Parker was an illegal immigrant. Facts came out after Elvis's death. All the arguments happened off stage. This & The Kurt Russell films are the ones to see. But Austin Butler was magnificent as Elvis especially from the 68 Comeback Special to the Vegas & end. Also although he always loved Priscilla his true soul mate & love was Ann Margret who he proposed to and when he told Parker, Parker told him if he married her he would wind up like Jerry Lee Lewis whose carrer suffered for awhile after he married his teen cousin. Priscilla was living with Elvis's Reliatives at that time. He should have married Ann who was his perfect match and wouldn't have put up with The so-called Memphis Mafia or Parker. By the way Jerry Lee Lewis came back bigger than ever as a Country Singer & Still The Rocking Killer. If Elvis had a downfall he would regain everything that he would lose to Parker. Parker was taking 50% of Elvis's earning which no other Entertainer would give to their Manager. He could have fought Parker in Court and won. Perhaps Parker's background would have been exposed and he could have been deported back to The Netherlands. Elvis would then be free to tour The World and dream his dream
I hated the cursing. I don’t think Elvis talked like that. I always thought his mother and Elvis were God fearing. I know he used to like to sing gospel. I still don’t think he would talk that way, and can never convince me he did!!!!
Elvis actually had his share of a "potty mouth". You can see some of it in the "Aloha From Hawaii" rehearsal clips . I was actually surprised to hear Elvis say the "F word" when he messed up during a song.
Dolly's, "I Will Always Love You", hadn't even been released when they divorced. Priscilla had some input in the Elvis movie and I'm sure she had that part put in to make her look good. In her book she said when they walked hand in hand after their divorce he whispered in her ear, "Forever always and ever". Now, she has rewrote history again, something she does every time she opens her mouth, she told Dolly he sang "I Will Always Love You" to her as they were walking hand in hand after signing their divorce papers. You can't believe a word Priscilla says.
No more pain and free from prying eyes for father and daughter. Rest easy in the glory of your loved ones that have gone before and all those in paradise.
I agree. The Elvis movie about Elvis & Priscilla where Kurt Russell portrayed Elvis, has ALWAYS been my favorite version, of all movies made about Elvis. Kurt Russell did a helluva acting job in that one.
Watch it again. Kurt acts more like a bad Shatner impersonation. It's definitely not based on elvis. I like Kurt's look and appreciate him as an actor but noting this role as elvis.
The Toxic mix is available now as a single in Apple Music. I downloaded it today actually. I immediately thought of Britney once I realized what was gong on in the movie, I even said something to my husband after it was over.
