I am vegan except for Elwood's dog meat. Those animals truly have a wonderful life and i feel very comfortable having a steak, leg, snout or ribs from time to time. 99% of meat comes from factory farms so this family farm that truly loves the animals before they are gently and lovingly converted to meat is a shining example of compassion that can exist in this circle of life.

On 20 December 2018, the federal Dog and Cat Meat Trade Prohibition Act was signed into law as part of the 2018 Farm Bill. It bans slaughtering dogs and cats for food in the United States? Is it still legal?

Why aren't those original posts from the meat industry enough to turn away from meat? If I would have gotten serious posts like that in my feed when I was still a big meat eater I would have stopped much sooner. The use of eufemisms like "sacrifice" always annoys me. People make it seem that the animal took its own life to feed us humans or that getting killed is its (sacred) purpose. Eufemisms for mass killing against contagious diseases like bird flu, mad cow and so on always got me even more mad. On the news they call it "culling", "removing", "clearing", "disposing", but they never say that they killed thousands of pigs in one go and then dumped them in a mass grave with an escavator. (To protect public health?) Thanks to you, I am now imagining (living) puppies being throw on a "puppy pile" with an escavator. 😂

Anyone know where I can get sustainable, ethical cat? Dog is great but I feel like it's very EXTREME to limit yourself to not eating cat. I don't want to be EXTREME.

I too ask people why they are ok with eating pigs (smarter than dogs), cows, chickens, all cute animals, yet dogs are off limits. What really makes them mad about this question is that we are asking why they WORSHIP dogs, because that is true worship. Make sure to bring this up to really drive dog nutters insane. I eat meat every day and I wouldnt care what animal people eat. I think it's great that people eat dogs in poor countries, because they have an abundance of stray dogs that can otherwise be a nuisance. Why not eat them? I'm not a vegan of course, but I can identify more with people that have actual principles, and most people dont, not even close and they dont try.

Ive been convinced that an plant based diet is healthier, so guess I gave up on dog meat. I apreciate your work regardless. I still dislike the double standard normal people have for dogs and cats. You at lest are vegan. I found you cause I disliked the double standard and instead of going vegan and caring for all animals I decided not to care for any, and so I searched for geuin dog farms that do try to produce dog meat the same way people raise other farm animals. If love for animals can bring people to eat healthy keep going.

How is intentionally killing unnumbered wild animals to protect crops consistent with vegan ethics? If logical consistency and anti-speciesism are so important to vegans, why is veganism logically inconsistent and speciesist?

If you want to eat dogs, it's ok with me. Reducing suffering has an arbitrary cut-off and therefore is not a rational basis for any moral obligation. “Traditional veganism,” say Fischer and Lamey, “could potentially be implicated in more animal deaths than a diet that contains free-range beef and other carefully chosen meats.” So, why should anyone go vegan if it's possible to cause less suffering by eating carefully chosen meats? Maybe even some dog meat.
