The band's sound has changed a lot over the years. Most of the contention you'll see stems from the vocalists because their styles are very different. The previous vocalist, Jonny Craig, had tons of soul and power, and though he had (and still has) a ton of real-life baggage (he's pretty much been kicked out of every band he's been in), his talent is undeniable and as a result, he'll always have a strong fanbase for better or for worse. Whenever a beloved singer is replaced, you're ALWAYS going to have fanwars in the comments taking sides, it's inevitable. But I think the Emarosa fans are much more mature about it-admitting Craig's talent but still supporting Bradley. Similarly, the band's sound has shifted completely from their earlier post-hardcore sound to something more, dare I say, "commercial." Not a bad thing by any stretch... definitely more accessible and less progressive than it used to be, and it shows-probably more popular than they've ever been in the past. Just look up "The Past Should Stay Dead," and from literally the first second you can hear how different the band used to be. Way more aggressive and sporadic.

@@bommie I feel like it's the same with Dance Gavin Dance. The fans are mature about the singers. Of course you have the die-hard Jonny Craig fans but those same fans are behind Tilian as well. When Jonny left DGD most people thought the band would never be the same? But when Tilian came in he really made the band his own and the sound kind of changed but the music was still amazing. Now DGD is still together and staying relevant and the music is great. Now before Tilian came in they had Kurt on vocals which was also good then Jonny came back around 2010 I believe and recorded their 4th album before Jonny left again and Tilian took over and is still with the band going strong. Also Jon Mess left the group after their 2nd album but returned to the band in 2010 with Jonny and Mess stayed with the band after the 4th album and Jonny left and is also still with the band doing the screams and stuff backing up Tilian. DGD went through a lot of changes but totally made it work and is still one of my favorite bands still to this day. I'm also one of the ride or die Jonny Craig followers. I'm well aware of his trouble and demons he has and faces and have been upset with him because he just has so much damn talent and has such a unique voice that its a shame he's not as well known as he should be because he couldn't stop messing his life up. So much great music from Jonny. From his start in Ghost Runner On Third to Dance Gavin Dance to Emarosa to Slaves to the features he's done with other bands to all his solo music he has and his amazing song covers he does. If you go to his RU-vid page he has some recent music put out in the past year and he did a couple pop song covers that he killed. In those videos you can see that he's gained some weight so I'm hoping the weight gain is due to him getting sober and I hope he's staying on track with his life.
