@@baileyjerman5573 It’s mostly a college thing. High schoolers are referred to as 9-12 graders. But, if you’re not gonna use numbers we use the same names for both of them.
There is a person in my intro to marketing class that wears rainbow knee socks, a leather cloak, yellow crocks, and a non binary pride flag as a cape every day. There will always be someone with bolder fashion than you. People don’t tend to notice if you are wearing pajama pants or slippers.
@@elenas3571, there was a kid, whom even in secondary, dressed like it was the end of the world. Knee-length black socks, bright orange flannel, a faded Metallica T-shirt, a neon cap, and the brightest shade of blue eye-shadow that I've ever seen. I can only imagine what she'll wear to college.
The days I don't bring an umbrella, I find myself standing in front of the door, having a face off with the rain. Like if I stare long enough, it will decide to stop.
@@porkinhood6364 I live in a really really moderate climate, but whenever it's raining, its also windy at the same time. We rarely ever get rain on its own, so I feel you 😭
I actually dress up, blazer and all most times, because it is the only way I feel confident in myself. Eveyone elese question why tf I dress up, and keep telling me to chill; but if I don't I'm going to lose confidence in myself and slip into a bad mental state again... 😖
I guess dressing up is not that important. But if your someone like me, then its very important. Idk why, but my outfit effects my mood. If I wear sweatpants, then Im not super happy or something. Its super weird. And I wont know what outfit until I wake up!!!
Yep, I always feel so self-conscious and uncomfortable in sweats. I genuinely feel more comfortable and like myself when I’m dressed up, since my style is an important part of my identity. I have a chronic illness that’s affected every aspect of my life since my freshman year of college. I now struggle to hold a pen, and had to drop my music major because I can’t hold a bow, my meds make me so foggy I’m not as smart anymore, I can’t draw or paint for long anymore either, and I can’t do any lifting without triggering my nerve pain. Some of the most important pieces of my identity are gone now. What I do have left is the ability to do some makeup and get dressed. So when I’m having an especially tough day, looking like the me that I identify with does make me feel better. I’ve lost too much at this point, I don’t want to lose the image of myself that the world sees too.
I have a question. Ik in high-school they have us take a bunch of classes but in college they say u should take less classes a day. Is there a reason? What was it like taking those classes back to back?
@@f0xtai168 Hello! College freshman here. College is really different from high school. In high school you have a full day with lessons and work time for a full year (typically). In college you just go to lecture and do all of your work outside of class (typically) for one semester (then you pick new courses for your next semester). This means that whatever takes a year to teach in high school, is taught in 16 weeks in college (it can be hard at times, but I have survived so far haha). It depends on the classes that you take, but they tend to be challenging. I definitely recommend doing concurrent enrollment or take AP classes to at least get a feel of what College courses are like (if you aren't already). For concurrent enrollment, some schools may give free tuition or tuition scholarships. So it is definitely worth looking into if your high school allows it. I am currently taking 15 credit hours which is basically 5 classes. One 4 credit, one 2 credit, and three 3 credit classes. Make sure to pick the course load that works for you. I hope that this was helpful. For more information, you should talk with a school counselor or get in contact with an admissions counselor at the school that you want to go to. Your college academic advisor should help you with with picking classes. College was scary at first, but once you get used to it, it can be a lot of fun! Make sure to meet good people, join a club, and go to some games. Good luck! You will do great!
@@f0xtai168 hi also a college freshman! super different experience from this guy- but back to back classes can be A LOT. HOWEVER- its not always a bad thing (as far as my experience). im commuting to college so its a lot more beneficial to take a lot of classes per day rather than them being spread out. my commute is about 35 minutes so being at college lets say (next semester) 8a to 8p tuesdays and thursdays is actually super great for me!! for me that opens up the ability to work again on my days off- and also have a free sunday off :) however typically you are not commuting (and youre also not an art major who doesnt get much hw minus art- which never feels like hw). so spreading out your classes is super essential! unlike hs where you can have hour classes back to back- you now have more like 3 hour classes. so in a sense youre getting 3x more out of a single class than 3 hs classes combined! its all fun stuff to think about once you get to college- but its really all about finding a schedule that works for you. best of luck in your future endeavors ❤️
My first semester of college, I took 5 back to back classes. I thought “It’ll be fine!” My whole family was like “DO. NOT!” Yeah. I had a mental break down and now take 3 each semester
I once took 5 back-to-back classes on T/Th (my college does M/W/F for 50 minutes or T/Th for 80 minutes). That meant I was in class from 9-4:20 without a break. It was horrible 😭 But I didn’t have a choice in the matter. I can’t drive and my grandpa was always working on M/W/F, so I had no choice but to suck it up and go through that hellhole of a schedule. Thankfully, I have two online classes this semester, so I only have three classes on T/Th. I also have a break between my second and third class.
@@eatthebottle3297 I took 5 classes this sem and I’m already dying. It’s my first week. I’m about to drop one class. I overestimated myself🥲 my advisor said to add 1 more since I took 4 spring sem😃 she believed in me a bit too much. Plus I took classes in summer so I’m also drained from that💀
@@RM-kk1nz take it from me. Unless you need to graduate by a certain time, don’t take five classes. I was out of school for three years, so I have to suck it up and take five classes so I can graduate and go on to complete grad school before I’m 30 lol. But anyone else, don’t do it.
I showed up to college in a onesie...my bro and his wife had a medical emergency so we watched my nephew and 4 MONTH OLD NIECE...i said f-it and went in a onesie and slept for an hour. Thank god the work was easy.
I always dress up for class, for everybody like me in the comments who say they need to dress up to feel more awake and confident I recommend loads of jewelry if you do decide to dress down sometimes. That always helps me, rings, bracelets, shiny earrings or chain necklaces etc.!
1. Dépends on thé climate! For me, it doesn’t rain too much, so I usually just bring a coat or sweater depending on the weather 2. 100% correct. You will be thankful for even an hour’s break later on in the term. 3. Dépends on thé person. I like to get dressed nicely bc it helps me feel good about myself, but I also don’t have early starts. But yeah, no one really cares if you come in a sleeping bag or whatever, but you might some compliments if you look cute!
The last one is so accurate. You could usually tell someone’s grades based on how nicely they were dressing about halfway through the semester (at least at my college). If they’re doing well they look like shit and if they’re not doing well then appearance is usually taken care of because something’s gotta look nicer than those grades lmfao.
Great advice! This is coming from a junior in college. I always forget to bring or take an umbrella. It was terrible. And it’s okay to not dress up for class, yesterday I saw a grown man wearing a unicorn onesie. If he can wear that then y’all can wear sweatpants.
the rain one confuses me. Like I had rain in my childhood, and I also never had a car in my childhood, so I'm kind of used to being prepared for it? The rest are very relatable though
Kids don’t think to pack one. I guess nobody thinks about how they’ll be walking 10 minutes or more to get to the next class outside. Most kids in the US go to school via the bus or car and their schools either have all the classes in one building or covered walkways to get to the outdoor ones. Never having to deal with rain during school makes them forget that will be an issue at university, hence why they don’t get rain gear.
@@Whoknows-mf1cv Well in Germany we mostly go by bus or by bike. But there are no school buses. You take the normal one and if you're unlucky you have to walk quite a bit. Also it rains a whole lot, like 50/50 almost. So you're always prepared for rain, except for in the middle of summer
@@naomif9964 yeah. It's the same in England. A lot of kids cycle or walk to school and we have to bring coats because it rains even in the summer. It takes me 35 minutes to walk to school and without a coat I'd be soaked by the time I get to school. Also our school is made up of lots of buildings so if it rains during the day we'll get soaking without coats. Also the fact that he said bring an umbrella is confusing as well seeing as it's always too windy and umbrellas break so easily. I never use one.
@@heidi4125 Haha yeah I have a pile of broken umbrellas cause it's almost never rainy without wind, and I always had a fold up umbrella in my school bag
I wore jeans to all my classes for the first week of my first year. I have worn pajamas to every single class since that day and I'm now in the last few weeks of my second year. No one asks, no one says anything. Sometimes people just quietly nod or give a thumbs up
I like dressing up because it makes me feel good and confident. I used to be a student in a prestigious school for the whole of my pre-college years but i decided to apply to the top best college in my region which happens to be a free public state university. In this economy it better anyway, i have no student debt and i can work with a nice diploma to my name. The culture is different the schedule was similar to my old school. Fashion has been a part of my whole life as a student from then point on and continuing it just makes me feel more productive. Alot of people in the university who used to be from private schools does the same. The professors as well dress up well.
I'm currently an adult student who 100% prioritizes food and sleep. From *day one* I was only scheduling 4 classes a semester and making sure I never had more than 2 classes in a day. I'm here to learn, not die of exhaustion.
The last one is me lmao 😭 Me over dressing and looking like a doll for the first three weeks and always retouching my makeup to using baggy sweatshirts, barely combing my hair and not even bothering to cover my dark circles with concealer 🥴
As a soon-to-be freshie, I’m absorbing any advice I can get like a sponge, so thank you for this! However, I will forever be stubborn about dressing up for class every day because I’ll be damned if I’m not the most dapperly-dressed mf in the room
College attire is so funny to me because I study architecture and we share the building with the faculty of design as well so you know, most people are VERY well dressed every day. But oh boy when exam period rolls around the corner… you will not catch a single person with brushed hair, makeup or even wearing jeans😂 it’s yoga pants, tons of caffeine and messy hair for WEEKS
I like to dress up to class, I dress up like I just woken up, like I'm homeless, like I'm a skater, like I own a small business. The earlier the class the less effort I put into it and that's okay. Some of my friends go in pj's and crocks to class and honestly I don't notice until they point it out
I dress up at least 2 days a week because I don't have class in the mornings. But on the days where I have an early class and have a PE class, I will often just wear comfortable workout clothes. And take a nap in my car in-between classes.
After going through my whole life having to do class after class I ain’t gonna make my schedule like that. I need a mental break after each thing, maybe even add in a few notes I forgot or didn’t have time for. I also just need time to process the information before I’m thrown into the next thing
I used to power nap between classes. Never felt refreshed and I’d be half asleep while walking across half the campus to my next class nearly falling off the sidewalk haha
This is all very accurate. When I was a freshman, I brought an umbrella a couple months in, and literally, on day one, I left it in a lab room and never saw it again. And yeah. Don't even bother dressing up for college classes. You won't find it worth that effort after a while.
POV: you live in California and you want to be drenched in water because we’ve been in droughts for the last decade and you forgot how the feeling of rain hitting feels like
Me, a music ed major: wait y’all have the choice to not have like 15 classes in a day. I have 17 credit hours… most of my classes are 1 credit hour each.
yes, umbrella is a MUST. as for timetable, depending on how big your uni you may not get a choice of when your classes are (i didnt). as for dressing up, i still dress up for uni. im one semester in already and still get dressed and do my makeup for my 8am classes, cause i graduated high school last year and was getting up at 6am anyway, ive stuck to that routine
I love dressing up, and knowing myself, I'll want to wake up an hour early and then think that's too late and end up waking up 3 hours early for school so I'll have plenty of time to get ready
Another reason having multiple classes everyday is that your going to have a lot more homework than high school so luckily as a freshman I only have 2 classes each day right now
If you go to a place that is windy though, umbrellas are useless. They try to take you away like Mary Poppins, but you are too heavy and the umbrella breaks.
My parents definitely saved me from the back to back class mistake this year and now I have either an hour and a half or 3 hours between classes depending on the day and still get Fridays off with 2 classes a day and it is such a good feeling since I go to all my classes with the energy I need to work that I never had in high school
Me and my multiple chronic illnesses can barely handle 4 classes spread over the week ;3 I have 2 classes on Mondays and wednesdays, starting at 11 or so, and then one class on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Friday starts at 8 am and then at 11 I take the bus home but the other clases start at nearly 1 pm. Still can barely get through a lot of days :( Able bodied people please be thankful you can actually do so many classes without passing out and being sick constantly!
I have a car and an umbrella, jacket, and blankets always. If u haven’t done it do itttt. Especially if ur AC/heater blows out too blankets will save ur life literally. And all ur friends will love u bc it’s so cozy.
I did one maybe two classes a day, and weekends completely free 😂. And no early classes. My earliest is at least 9 am. Like bsffr I’m not living through the nightmare of highschool classes again
