Hello Everyone! Today I will be doing an embellishment on a pearl cell flip cup with negative space that I did in a previous video. I will link the video below. At the time I poured it I had different plans for it but didn't follow through and it left the piece feeling unfinished. After months of it sitting in a corner I finally decided to try something out that I had been seeing Tanya Mundt do on Facebook for some time but it was ‪@HeatherMaderArt‬ that turned us on to the secret of her embellishments...A HOT GLUE GUN! When I saw this technique it sparked some ideas in my brain for this piece so I decided I'd give it a whirl. Heather gives very detailed instructions on her channel and has now put out several videos featuring this idea. Head over to her channel for more info. It will be linked below. This is a really fun technique and wasn't too difficult! You know that this is art therapy for me and I hope it is for you as well.
If you would like to see how I mix these paints for pearl cells, I do have a paint mixing video below so please check it out if you are new to my channel and as always, if you have any questions please feel free to ask. I read and respond to every single comment.
I'm very excited to be teaching at the Fluid Art Experience again in Dallas, Texas November 17-19, 2022. You can get tickets & info by going to:

😢thanks for letting me know about this video. I actually seen it when you did it. I bought that same glue gun from Amazon but did not try it out right away. Naturally when I did, it did not worked that well and time passed that I could not get a refund. Now I am searching for another one that the glue comes out finer. This is amazing. ❤❤

Hi Carol! The glue gun takes a little practice. If you keep it steady and off of the glass you can get it pretty thin. I'm sure there are other options out there but that is what I've used. I hope you find success!❤️

That was the perfect embellishment for your painting! I watched Heather do this technique and it looked very intriguing. It looks like cloisinea to me...very pretty! I love any embellishment that gives texture and depth. Your leaves have both in spades. I've been looking for something, some kind of subject to use the glue gun and create this look, but nothing has caught my eye yet. I'm writing you on my new tablet. I just now figured out how to watch and comment on your video😉. It's got so many bells and whistles, it took me two days just to figure out how to get to my RU-vid page. I guess I'm in the technological challenged group now. Great video Tara! I was so glad to see you today...I was starting to get worried about you. Got to have my weekly Tara inspiration!😊🪷🪷🪷🪷🪷

Thank you so much Tera! ❤️☺️🙏🏻 It was a really fun technique to experiment with. I have been out of town off and on for the last couple of weeks so I have been fitting in painting and editing around that. I am doing fine…just very busy! Thank you for your concern though. That’s so sweet! Congrats on your new tablet. I hear you on the technologically challenged thing…I’m in that category too. That’s another reason I’m slow getting videos out. I have switched to a new editing software and now have to learn it. 🤦🏻‍♀️.

I like your idea of how to fill in that rather blah middle section. I almost prefer it before you started painting in any of the lilies. And I also liked it when just the white lilies are painted. Not so sure that I liked it as much once you painted in the Green Lily pads. And I’m not at all sure about the gold that you put over top of the glue.
@PiecesofTaraArtistry
@PiecesofTaraArtistry Год назад
Thank you so much Shirley for your feedback and honesty. Once I started painting those lilies green I was committed. I didn’t save any of that base paint to do over if I didn’t like it. I actually love how they turned out but I get that green isn’t for everyone. It was fun to try out. Now that I have done it I know to leave extra paint in case I don’t like it. 🙏🏻☺️❤️

It certainly does take a lot of patience using a glue gun. I watched numerous videos of AB Creative and finally recreated a gecko she did and that’s waiting to be given to my grandson as a gift. I’m such a perfectionist so it took quite some time. Like she did, I poured epoxy resin on just the gecko and it gave it a unique look. Her work is beautiful so check her out! Anyway, your embellishment turned out beautiful, Tara. I love it!

Really pretty, nice job! I saw Heather's video a couple weeks ago and went right out and got supplies to do it. I totally agree that it requires a lot of practice! It was very time consuming. Tanya's work is absolutely beautiful! The one thing I will say is that the claim that the glue won't stick on its own to a painted surface isn't true. It does and it sticks way better than with tacky adhesive. The real problem with hot glue directly on your painting is you better hope you don't mess up cuz its not coming off. Creating your design on glass allows you to adjust and fix mistakes. Unless you're highly proficient with the detailer id do the glass method.

Hey Tara! :) Looks gorgeous with the pearl pour!!!! (a technique I haven't really mastered) lol. 🤣 A couple of things: The Q-tips worked for me because I used extra "fluid" consistency. I saturated the Q-tip and basically "dripped" the paint into the little detailed areas. Second thing you said was that if "flowed" under the glue line.... I did NOT have this happen? But remember I also turned the canvas over, and put a heavy weight on mine and left it overnight. So maybe that was helpful if securing it to the canvas. I love the glue gun you got and I think I could actually have more control with that style - rather than the "gun" style. So now you make me want to run out and buy another damn glue gun, lol. (I have 3 already to test for my videos...lol.) Lastly - Thank you so much for mentioning Tanya Mundt and myself in this video. I see a lot of comments saying, "AB Creative did this and Talismania did this..." and I say, NO DOUBT Tanya was not the first to ever use a glue gun in a painting. But my agreement with Tanya was just to show HER technique and the way SHE does it to produce HER special look. :) And not to call others out...but I also have seen some of the big channels "lurcking" in the FB groups, liking a technique that someone else did, then doing it on their channels with ZERO acknowledgement of where the inspiration came from. Because they are big channels, viewers see their videos. Then they suddenly think that they were the "first" to do a technique..... sometimes its that another artists who isn't well known with a smaller channel or doesn't have a channel and shows their work on FBl did the technique and simply was not given credit. So kudos to you for being so generous to where you inspiration came from!! TRUE GENUINE Character!!!! :) :) :) :)
@PiecesofTaraArtistry
@PiecesofTaraArtistry Год назад
Heather, first of all…u r right…I was very quick to just move on in the process so I did get flow under the glue but honestly it didn’t go beyond the edges of the glue so I totally lucked out. Second, I feel like we all borrow techniques from each other and honestly…is there ever a real original idea. We all just borrow and tweek, right? Maybe this person did this technique this way, but we do it a little different. As long as the end result is art…my opinion is who cares who did what first. That being said…I will ALWAYS give credit where credit is due. If I learned a technique from you or Tanya or whoever…I’m definitely going to give credit. That is so important in being an artist and genuinely supporting other artists. I feel like supporting those in the community is more important than holding onto one’s own technique or trying to take credit of others techniques just because my channel is larger! We are on RU-vid for crying out loud. If we don’t want anyone copying us or doing what we do then we shouldn’t be on RU-vid. You are a wonderful example of a very generous artist that cares about other artists and I really admire that about you. I have very much patterned myself after your example and am grateful you are still being true to yourself. Much love girl! 🙏🏻☺️❤️
