But is it able to shoot more FPS in lower resolutions like it was in WAVE? Or will it be possible in future firmware updates?

The sensor used in Wave has a mode that allows 2x2 subsampling, which gives almost 4x frame rate in 2K for the same aspect ratio and crop factor. (But no increase in light sensitivity - it isn't binning.) The sensor used in Ember can only go faster by cropping vertically, and the speed increase is not as much. Might still be able to get to ~2000fps for 720p, CODEC-permitting.
