That is really surprised me about the Royal Oak Embers. I have always had great luck with the lump charcoal in the red bag and basically this Embers seems to be the reject thats left over. Thank you for the video. Also really was crazy how much black smoke came off the product.

Lol I knew it was going to be trash. I will not use Royal Oak. I have tried three bags, they all had rocks and metal scraps, I found what was obviously pallet material in a bag of lump once. Junk, absolute junk.

The Embers logo reminds me of the Char-Griller grills logo.

I'm not making this up... I put in a bag of Embers in my brand new Gravity 800. It smoked so bad, fire truck pulled into my neighborhood. Luckily, smoke settled down and they just drove by. I came to youtube looking for review of this charcoal, sure enough, similar experience here. Wow. I need to stay away from this charcoal or else my neighbors are going to hate me 😬

Thanks for the fun video! I've had exactly the same experience with Royal Oak Ridge briquettes from Lowes. The Embers stuff looks like it's the same product in a different bag - probably rebranded for Home Depot or others to sell. Either way it's Crap. Watching you light off two full chimneys I was thinking "Oh no. This is going to be bad!" The smoke from one full chimney is unbelievably bad. I won't do it again in my neighborhood! Easily the worst charcoal I've yet used. Unfortunately I still have a couple full bags to use up. I've been working it off in my smoker bit by bit. I'll never buy it again!

Yeah, the smoke rolling off that stuff was just crazy. I really wish I should’ve would’ve should’ve. Could’ve. I guess. Had a shot from a distance to show how much smoke is filling up my yard in my neighbors yard. Wow, thanks for watching a video and your comments.

One time I bought a bag of expert grill briquettes from Walmart. Obviously made by Royal oak with the ridge design, even though the bag doesn't say royal oak. Looked identical to the embers. Anyway, I think it was even worse if you can believe it. A full chimney didn't even produce enough heat to cook a few burgers properly. And the coals crumbled to ash in no time, like 30 minutes they were done. And it was a ton of ash, way more than Kingsford. It's like those briquettes were mostly sand. Spend another dollar for a bag of Kingsford it's way better.

Can you do Fogo, Eucalyptus version please, love content. Can you also add what kind of aroma the charcoal has and what it would make your food taste like?

Honestly, it was sort of neutral once the brush fire went out. But it burns so fast I doubt it would matter

@Oscar-rl7oz I’ve moved to Blues Hog on the briquettes. Heavy oak flavor. On lump, BB Hickory. But I have a ton of charcoal to test yet.

Nope I am done with Royal Oak. Tired of garbage mixed in metal & rocks and last bag of lump I bought was small. I try to buy American so I will stick with Kingsford and I am starting to switch over to B&B

I tried jealous devil briquettes. My 2 gripes with it are they are expensive, and every time I would pour my chimney into the grill, a lot of the briquettes would break and split apart. It still burned fine, but I don't think a so called premium product should do that.

The Expert Grill charcoal is about the same thing as Embers. It is good for short little cooks or starting a woodburner.
