COMMON SENSE MESSAGE!! Im sure everyone will use their common sense when embossing through an electric machine. You can press out some of the excess water beforehand, seeing as its going to be pressed anyway, and even lay some kitchen roll on your boards as it goes through the machine to soak up any excess. xx
While watching this all I could think of was all the people with their rooms full of hoarded toilet paper, lol. Actually cool technique, thank you for sharing.
I wish i could hit the like icon a hundred times! Not only is the idea amazing, but your presentation is easy to follow. Thank you so much for sharing.
A Little tip, I just made myself a embossingfolder 😊, I used two plastiek lace placemats and sandwiched in between the toiletpaper, it just worked goed even with the ink
Can you imagine people’s reaction if you had done this video during the very beginning of the pandemic when no one could get toilet tissue in the stores? This is very cool and lovely effects! I’ll have to try this!
Wow! This was a lot of fun. Such a cool trick. Who knew?! Toilet tissue into homemade paper. Great idea. Definitely going to have to play. Thanks for sharing.
Just got this video in my feed. I really like ur technique. We got extremely lucky in the sense that nobody really did any toilet paper hoarding in the town I live in, population about 60,000. We just moved so I'm still trying to get my craft room set up. I never learned how to use a sewing machine but I found a mini sewing machine for $14 on Amazon so I bought it. It doesn't do any speciality stitches but for my first machine it's perfect. I'm going to try making a journal like this. Right now I make them out of granola boxes but I hand sew all the binding. I'm so excited to try this also bcuz I just bought my first sprays right before we moved. I have alcohol sprays that I made using rubbing alcohol and sharpies but the sprays I bought r shimmery, yay me. Anyway thanx 4 the video, really cool.
Hi Carol and Penni. I just love this toilet paper technique that Carol has taught. I've been planning to make a book like this for some time. I also liked Penni's comment on making her own alcohol sprays with markers. Penni could you please tell me how you do that? Thanks to both of you girls!!!! You are both so creative. 😊
@@cynthiamelinn2743 buy rubbing alcohol and fat sharpie markers and empty spray bottles, some sort of protective rubber gloves, a funnel, and something to mix the alcohol and sharpie tips. Pour alcohol into the spray bottle (so u know how much it takes to fill the spray bottle) then pour that out into another container (preferably one that a hand fits in) then use a pliers to pull the tips off of the marker and put the tip in the alcohol. Use ur fingers and pinch the felt tip to help get the color out and mix it up, and if u don't like how light or dark the color is either add another tip or don't squeeze the tip to get as much color out then use the funnel to pour it into the spray bottle and ur done. I found the perfect size spray bottles at Walmart in the section that has the travel size shampoos. I made mine back in like 2013 and the color doesn't separate so once they r mixed they stay mixed and they haven't like gone bad in any way so yes they r still just as bright as they were when I made them. And then I just put a piece of tape on the bottle with the color bcuz like the black and purple look like they're the same color. Have fun 😊 Oh the alcohol smell can get pretty strong so if that bothers u make sure u make them in a well ventilated area. It didn't bother or affect me in any way and I did all of mine in one sitting in a craft room that's just the size of a normal bedroom.
@@cynthiamelinn2743 yay I'm so happy for u and if u have any other questions plz feel free to ask. I love being able to share anything I kbow. Good luck and have fun
I did your method, and love the results. Instead of binding, I made an envelope to hold the pages, and tied it closed. It is a song journal with the song I can see clearly now. Thanks for sharing this.
What a wonderful video, inspiring and so clever. A new handmade paper that's so different so gorgeous. No wonder your ink fell down at the beginning it fainted with pure joy and amazement. Love the ideas, the tips. What a journal this one will be a jewel to treasure. There will be queues for the toilet roll now, as we turn them from Cinderella into Princess pages. Thank you for sharing didn't want it to end👏👏👏❤❤❤
I had tried this with wet water color paper to make cards, it turned out well. I'm going to try your version now 😀 I don't have the embosser machine so I use my clay roller. It works... Thank you for sharing, and reminding me to get creative again ☺️
WOW 😮 WOW 😮 WOW 😮 Carol that’s absolutely amazing and fantastic too. I really really love 💕 this. What a great 👍 idea 💡. Thank you so much for sharing this with us all. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Love this 🤩🤩🤩 they’ve turned out so well. Definitely looking forward to the next part. They’d make beautiful tags in a regular journal too. Tfs. 💞💞💞💞💞💞
This is a wonderful technique. I’ve seen it before a long time ago, but for card making. It should be great in a journal, too. Love the effect of the inking. Thanks for sharing.
Good morning, Carol. I had to giggle when I saw you doing this. 6 months ago when we in the US couldn't find toilet paper, you're making art LOL I'm going to pick up off-brand tissue today while I"m out. Can't wait to try this in my PInkRibbon journal today! Creative Blessings!
@@irenegarcia7356 approx ....second hand £30 - £80, brand new £80 - £300 depending on the type you go for but yes you can use a rolling pin but you wont get the same amount of pressure but you can get by with it :) xx
@@irenegarcia7356 Good morning Irene. I've heard some people use a rolling pin with success though that hasn't worked for me. Embossing/ die cutting machines vary greatly in price from aroud $100 - $200. Stampin' Up! has them reasonably priced. I picked up my Big Shot at a flea market for $40. I've also seen the Big Shot at Tueday Morning on occasion for $50. I bought my first Vagabond at Overstock.com several years ago. Shop around til you see one in your price range. Creative Blessings
I can’t wait to see the next video! Carol these are absolutely amazing and beautiful. I think you have found an element the crafters world is seeing for the first time! Xx
I did this before when you did rubber stamps and some of mine turned out really beautiful I had one from when I used to hang out at the University of Washington in Seattle and it turned out gorgeous just absolutely gorgeous
Wow, you have some fab inspiring ideas Carol. I love this one :) I have a stack of stained kitchen roll sheets that I used between sheets of coffee/tea dyed paper to help absorb and dry the papers faster, and when I reuse them they also help deepen the colour and add patterns onto the wet paper. I couldn't think of any other use for them, but your video has inspired me to try this using some of them.
@@carol.tinson-paper.crafts Do you know how to get away really bad smell from old books?(not put it in the bin😂)I can not have it in the House because it smell so bad/strong.Do you think it will help if I coffee or tea dye it?
Try it with a couple of pages see what happens. Place a few in a plastic bag with lavender or a tumble dryer sheet or some “Lenor unstoppables” pellets. Only a few pages in each bag though as they won’t penetrate the whole text block 😊🌸
Wow, Carol.. never would have thought of doing this with toilet paper. The colours look like water colour. I am going to sub to your channel and maybe I can learn some more of your art techniques. tfs
I came across your tutorial whilst browsing and I have to say I really enjoyed it so much so that I have subscribed. What an ingenious way using toilet paper but it makes sense layering the pieces together whilst wet to in essence make paper, wow. Can't wait to watch the following video to see the journal come together. Jane from UK
Great idea! Someone else has probably thought of this already, but I just had an idea on ones you don't paint but put the glue on top the layers with glue spray and then one layer of tin foil. Then after use alcohol inks to paint. I think it would make a really nice journal cover or could be glued to the top of a hard bound book cover/journal.
