Hello from Ontario, Canada! Loved the tutorial! You're a natural teacher! I don't have a cuttlebug, and I am new to Cricut. I do love card making so your video was both informative and inspiring! Thank you for sharing!!
I am OH so new to Card Making. I have a Cricut Joy and this is also a little difficult to use at times. Hopefully I will get the hang of it eventually, AND I must say your video are absolutely first class - thank you so much.
Thank you so much for taking the time to create this tutorial. I've been wondering if it's feasible to emboss/deboss a full pattern with a Cricut for card making. I don't have a Cuttlebug, so I'll most likely follow your other tutorial using the embossing tool instead. Side note: your voice is so soothing 😊
Thanks for sharing this, Kelly. You make this look so easy. I’ve been struggling 😭😭😭😭with making these after I watched an Ashley Falco video on creating embossing folders. I see you and I are using the exact same 0.010 Mylar sheets from Amazon. Maybe the stencil I am trying to create is too detailed, too small and has too many curves. I’ve tried using both the deep point and premium fine point blades, with 350 pressure, on default and more pressure with my Cricut maker, but I stopped at 3 passes. Sometimes it cuts through, no problem, but when I try again using the same settings and sheet, it scores it, but does not cut all the way through, so I go back in and muck up the settings😢😢😢😩. Going to revise my design, clean my strong mat so it has the best stick, tape down the edges, make sure to check my blade for build up around the cutting edge, take the passes up to 4 and give it another go. Thanks again!
Ag sorry to hear you are struggling! It could be the design yes the thicker materials can't handle details well. I'm using a similar material to the one I linked, I didn't get it from Amazon unfortunately. They don't stock the one I use 😅 But yes test cuts are going to save you so much heartache! And the strong grip mat has saved my hide lots too!
Great tutorial. You can use the stencil for inking backgrounds too. I was disappointed because I don't own a cuttlebug or any other such machine and wouldn't be able to emboss. I have seen tutorials using the foil pen or scoring stylus, but it means always keeping a mat aside for the stencil, thereby eliminating a mat for me to work with. How else can I create the pressure that mimics the cuttlebug machine? My daughter has a cricut joy extra and is wondering if she can use the stencil material on her machine. (I think so), but is the blade strong enough? I tried cutting shrinky dink on it and was not successful.
Thank you for that information 😊 I love your videos. I had I question about the machine can I use it w the sizzix ?? And I have some clear mats I bouts for dollar tree they can be used as cutting mats is that what I can use as a stencil ??
Ah thank you so much! You absolutely can use any die cutting machine with this technique! If you can cut through the clear mat on your Cricut machine - I would give it a try as a stencil!
Im not sure which machine you are referring to, or which mat it is, but you can test it, keeping in mind that if it isnt designed to be able to bounce back, you may damage your mat. Silicone doesnt often retain shape when compressed which is why its my favourite recommendation for these project types :)
@@KellyRossouw sorry forgot to specify- the rubber mat that comes with the cuttlebug “sandwich” Also, would the vellum they sell in the individual sheet section of the craft stores (scrapbooking) work to make the stencils for embossing?
