NY Trainzchaser 5th anniversary special! A compilation of EMD locomotives in notch 8, including F units, switchers, SD40-2s, GP15s and more. Footage was taken from 2016 to 2021.
That opinion would quickly change if you witnessed the dynamic braking and tractive effort of the modern GE units...Older EMD units are good but newer EMD units suck.
Working for Conrail starting back in the late 70-s as a breakman I loved the sound of those EMD SD 40-2,I could listen to those singing in notch 8 In a tunnel. It would. make the hair staind.on my.neck
Happy fifth anniversary to you and your channel. This compilation was an amazing way to commemorate the date. I really enjoyed watching the variety of railroads featured and the great locations. Thumbs up for the next five years to come!
i love how c.n. keeps their old take over loco s in the colors of companys they took over, iliinis central, the bessemer ,i know i meesed up the spelling
Guilford would throw together whatever units were running (SD39,SD45,SD26,GP40 etc), on trains coming out of Mohawk Yard. It's all uphill for about 15 miles, and those trains were always heavy and underpowered. Late at night you could hear those trains coming out of the Hudson Valley it seemed like almost forever. You'll never hear that again.
Fantastic video! I especially like the shots with the E and F units at the Illinois Railway Museum. I was a kid when they were the most common mainline locomotives.
Amazing to think that the SD40-2s are approaching 50 years old and still going strong. I wonder how many of the wunderkind mega power modern locos will be around in 50 years.
@@NYTrainzchaser What a complete load of crap (no not SCRAP - "crap).. As - a lot of these "so-called" hard working LOCOMOTIVES are barely pulling ANYTHING - let alone a hard pull. Take for example - 9:20 ? TWO LOCOS pulling SIX wagons - is barely a tug - let alone HARD WORK.. Maybe change your video's title to correctly display what you have there. A lot of short (front end) clips - showing a variety of unladen trains - barely pulling anything.
There's ONLY too Other things that sounds and Looks better than a EMD Engine One a Beautiful Woman in Bed Two a Harley Davidson with a set of Drag Pipes on it THAT'S IT!!!!!
I would have to disagree, A Pratt&Whitney R-985 radial aircraft engine would be number 2 or 3 in my book!!!! Nothing sounds like a EMD though! I do like the sounds of the old Alco's too!!!
Those are GP15-1's...The reason why you hear those chugging sounds is because the units are naturally aspirated just like the GP38-2's & SD38-2's.The units use the 12-645E3's just like the GP39-2's & SD39-2's.The only differences are that GP15-1's are N/A like I mentioned but the GP15T's are turbocharged like the GP39-2's & SD39-2's.There also is the GP15AC's which are somewhat rare like the GP38AC's.
Unfortunately no :( they're all scrapped.. The only GP40's left in service are MEC 305 306 307 310 313 315 316 319 321 BM 326 B&M 330 B&M 334 MEC 345 351 & 381. GP40-2LW's left in service are MEC 501 502 503 504 505 506 507 509 510 511 512 514 515 516 517 518. SD40's left are MEC 600 604 606 619 3400 3401 3402 3403 3404 3405. 3405 is former MEC 616.
