i have been listening to this track since it was released and here i still am in 2022 appreciating it just as much. for some reason it drenches me in emotions but i still listen to it. its as raw as you can get. naughty boy has composed a ridiculously heavy backing track. the whole thing is a masterpiece.

The song is about drug addiction. He stops taking drugs (out your system, yeah it took you a while), but them he's going through withdrawal (dancing, isn't actually dancing, it's the jitters). Then is the temptation to go back to drugs because it makes everything easier to bear hence the chorus.

First time I heard about Emeli was in London in a Coldplay charity concert. We were tourists and the original Coldplay gig was sold out. They announced a second gig day after. We flew all the way from Finland and Emeli was the warm up. We were blown away by this nobody!

The more you listen the more amazing the lyrics are. From the "he's out your system, it took you a while." The first part is him getting clean.. and the "Now you're dancing you like you need him need him." Took me a while to figure out she's talking about withdrawal.
