Here is a 6min video showing how the change-over from the HO scale slot track - to - the 1/32 scale slot track happens. See links below for some actual racing!
Driven w a automotive/truck winch - through a set of pullies and cables - Brett can stow the big 1/32 scale track up against the ceiling.
The HO track is all custom made - routered MFD board. This 1/32 scale track is mainly plastic Carrera track - except where the switch-overs are at - those are custom made routered MFD board.

My videos are not really meant for everyone to like necessarily - but I figure maybe someone might learn something or realize they could do something like this or even better - if they watch my videos. Ha - Yep Thanks! Both tracks are SO much fun to race on!! The Big D 1/32 track just got completely redesigned a few weeks ago - I haven’t seen it since... so I’m anxious to get back down there!

I didn't know that dogs like to race slot cars. I guess that's why there are no cars running, the dogs can't use the throttle controls due to lack of opposable thumb. If you lived near Memphis, I'd come and visit!

This is my favorite track of all time my friend. Absolutely love the speedway and you can switch it it to roadcourse too. Brilliant piece of work. Nice job I love the speed and layout. Lots of fun with this. I would love to know the size.

I tried to find the specs on the 1/32 track but I couldn’t find them. I’ll keep looking - but that track is no-longer. It’s been completely re-done to a full road-course about 2 years ago. Maybe in my next life we will have slot car tracks around in Ft Lauderdale Florida. I still have several HO scale pro racers cars. Love to have help to finish building the track and wiring work but no hobby shops around to ask at. Tons of very detailed work.

Man I love this. The custom piece to transition from oval to road course is spot on amazing! I hope to copy this design in the near future. I'd love to get more info on how the series is run etc. Ever do 1/24 racing on this?

Transition is just MFD Board routered, painted and copper tape glued down to it. The switches are shaped fiberglass and then 1 servo motor underneath pulls a spring loaded arm to change from Straight to Turn-in for the road course. You could do similar manually - but Brett like to do all things electrical/motorized!

And I thought I was into slot cars.....the pulley system alone is impressive. Keeping that huge track totally level all the way down is a feat in itself. Great job. I need to do that.

Dang, I thought I was cool when I had this idea (the oval with a permanent road course that you could switch between). Still waiting on a house to build mine, so you guys have me beat to the punch. I'm excited to check out the race videos on it right now.

@@g6wings Thanks for letting me know. Actually I lived in Des. Moines till I turned 13 back in the 70s. I live in South Carolina now. Back in Iowa I was introduced to 1/32nd scale slot car racing by a man from our church with the last name Knapp. He had a wood oval track in his basement. I haven't been back to Iowa in about 21 years. If ever I'm back there for a visit I'll have to check out your track.

@@jkabee Keep me posted. I would naturally love to stop by. It would be about a two hour drive. I would however want to offer up my observation to you that slot car raceway's as a business tend to come and go. I would suppose that a racetrack inside of a hobby shop would be a safer way to go. However you do it I wish you the best.

@@michaelcarrington7336 Point well taken. Its not something I am rushing into for that reason! I've considered a larger model that also encompasses R/C and having tracks for that as well. But yes, its an iffy proposition either way. People dont get ourt and support businesses like they used to. They would rather buy a set for the house and stay home or play a video game. It may be a lost cause. I'm conducting alot of market research in my area over the next month or two gauge overall interst in the hobby and in a series because the longevity of something like this will be in getting people hooked on regular visitation. Also growing opportunities for birthday parties and church youth events etc. A business like this will never last depending solely on foot traffic.

Hey, Davenport was my hometown. I lived there for the first twenty-three years of my life. When have been fun knowing someone like you with the skill, and the knowledge to build such wonderful tracks. What area of town do you reside within? Just curious if you don't mind sharing. I was a few blocks south-west of 5-points, and nearly directly north of Mother Goose Land that was in Fejervary Park, along with Monkey Island. Eventually, I grew tired of the winters, and slowly made my way to the desert Southwest. Thanks for sharing!
