I live in CA. Our Off peak is $.39/kwh and peak is $.42/kwh. Peak is 4pm to 9pm. Your Peak is about 1/3 of ours off peak 1/8th.

2 factors affect winter-cold-weather solar: It’s almost always OVERCAST during winters. However, when it is a CLEAR SUNNY cold day, the solar panels become more efficient when they’re COLD!, as HOT 100 degree plus solar panels have reduced current output.

You could install some sodium irion batteries as back up power and if you had enough of them you could run your house full time also you could install a vertical wind generator as a backup for days that have little sunlight

I think you can just turn on the large set of solar panels, when it cannot lose the voltage, the volts increase, but with a 10% increase in the volts it also switches itself off.

Make sure you install an interlock kit on that main panel

3800 watt-hours is really good for energy efficient house. I'm using incandescent light bulbs ( on purpose ) and 100 watts it's just one light bulb so it can barely run lights for a day. But ... Having a emergency backup power is always a good idea 😊. Minimal solar PV array to get it fully charged can be really massive when you want to fully charge it on a very cloudy day. I have solar 70 Wp and I'm powering car kettle, CD player, coffee maker, emergency LED lights... What's the size of your solar array ?
@JonasMarcinko
@JonasMarcinko Месяц назад
The big array is 12kw. I did the install and will be doing a video on of these days.

G,day Jonas from Sydney Australia. I would weld a metal pivot frame for the PV panels (photovoltaic) that you can "swing" over for AM and PM sunlight. Like seesaw 'tetertotter' U.S reducing shading on the panels. Have you a main switch from the grid 110v 🌏🇦🇺

You aren’t going to have 3 backup systems like Mike Patey? 😂😂😂

Um, you might seriously look at any required permits and inspections that need to be done in your area. While as a "professional home owner" you are able to do much of the work yourself, you still must comply with the electric code where you live. Should you try to sell your house without the inspection tags, you will find a headache indeed. Should your installation cause a fire and your house burns down and you don't have the inspection tags, it is very UNLIKELY that your insurance will cover the fire and replace your house. Should the electric company detect that you have a system like this, especially with the solar charge without grid, you might find yourself being off grid for awhile at a minimum. In most places in the US, you can do electrical work yourself (not all places) as long as you follow the code and get the permits and inspections. It is really best to have an electrician do the work or at least work with you. I have to say that this video is a very dangerous video for people to try to replicate. The battery backup is likely fine but this installation is pure danger. I find it amazing that the sponsor supports this.

As a pretty decent home professional I agree. Hire a professional familiar with emergency power installations at least for the setup and final inspection before use.

The high frequency inverter tech that's used in these cheap units are only rated at a 2X surge capacity which is not enough to power all of the appliances in an average home and because it doesn't even have an isolation transformer it has the potential to fry the AC appliances in your home during a catastrophic failure of its H-Bridge circuit. No thanks, not in my home.

That is exactly what sponsored content is. A very long, long, long ad. Fake reviews, so they could get paid for their content.

I purchased the same unit and im about to install and im confused on how you connect the roof top solar to charge the f3800 i dont see any solar connections besides the solar CT?
@JonasMarcinko
@JonasMarcinko Месяц назад
it does it automatically with the home power panel. when it sees current from solar (CT) it starts sending power from the main house panel to the f3800. hopefully that makes sense. you can also charge it with the solar connectors but its limited on the size of array that it can take. voltage wise. more for on the go charging.
@srt4cuz
@srt4cuz Месяц назад
@JonasMarcinko thanks for the info. I was under the assumption that the solar connects directly to the power panel..great thanks for the info
