All of the horses have been doing ok in this extreme heat - we have 40 degrees C 104F today. But Mickey who is now 23yrs and has Cushings - really started to struggle, despite, shade and lots of water. He was starting to breathe quite fast so I quickly got him under a hose pipe and ran the water for a long time to rapidly cool him down. I also gave him a rehydrating mash - he has access to a salt lick for electrolytes. He is feeling much better. Look after your ponies everyone!

Not well done no horse should he in a field during the day when it is hot It's not hard doing night turn out not only is it safer it's better for them

@@thevampirologist3054 if you watched the whole video through, you would've known she said she was MONITORING her horses during the day. However, her oldest horse, and the one that happens to be able to get burnt, needs more attention. Hence, she took him out of the field and attended his needs. Also, she might prefer her horses to be out during the day rather than the night for her own reasons. Lastly, if you think turnout in the night is safer and/or better for them, that is based off of YOUR horse(s) or the horses you've been with. Esme's horses clearly don't have this situation often as she monitors them during the day. So it is a well done because she handled the situation very well.

@@addie.eq8 seeing as the law was getting involved with people that just left their horses out it is common sense Every yard I have ever been based has it either as a mandatory rule to turn over in the summer IE. Put them out during the night or encourages it for safety

@@thevampirologist3054 She didn't just leave her horses out. She was monitoring them and noticed that one horse of hers needed attention. Hence she did give him attention. Also, in her country/nation, they do not have hot weather as often which is the reason why she doesn't see any of this coming. Also, those are the yards that you have been to in particular. Other places/horse owners have different rules.

im so glad youre taking good care of the horses because i barn i go to is worrying me, i cant do much about this but the owner never seems to give them baths its always dirty. now that its summer theres been a lot of rain rot and multiple horses are loosing fur and whenever you groom or sweat scrape there they always grimace.. i wish there was somethting i could do but theres not much more i can do then tell the owner

I think I was in the minority here in England with limited issues with my animals (horses included). They came into their stables. Went out at night when it was tolerable. We will do the same this year as it’s showing to be even hotter!! I did worry about our pink nosed boy. No issues thankfully

I have a 34 year old hairy cob with sweet itch I had to call a vet he is Home now but what the Freight I had We had to shave him and he has barely any hair left now but he’s a lot happier hope Mickey is okay
