Feel your pain, my cat was 23 & fine right up to one night having a siezure, took her to a 24 hr hospital where she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Held her why the Dr. put her to sleep, very peaceful for her not so much for me. Nice to meet you Blitzen, please say hi to Pumpkin for me when you get to kitty heaven.
Cats are amazing creatures. My cat had a thyroid problem and I too had to give her fluid under the skin. I had her for almost 14 and a half years before she passed. She was almost 20 and a half. She was my best friend. I hope Blitzen gets better.
I wish I could reach thru the screen and give Lindsay a hug. I love animal people. Its always the kidneys with cats. The only time I didn't have cats die of kidney issues was when I stopped feeding my last two cats kibble. I fed them some here and there, but totally stopped when they got over 10. Both lived to almost 20. They were all white siblings (pictured) and we still mourn them a year after girl kitty passed. She just had a stroke and died. At least neither died of kidney and bladder issues, just of old age. Praying for you that the injections keep him out of pain and into better health. God bless you both for trying. If a cat won't eat, baby food (without onion flavor) helps them want to eat more. 🤍🐾🐱👤🤍
They always switch sleepy spots to escape the pain. They think switching spots whatever is hurting him won't follow him to new spot. If you are feeding him dry food, try to only give him wet. All cats seem to pass this way, kidneys seem to be cats achilles heel. Had male cat on fluids, he didn't do well on it and passed. He was a 'dog cat' too. Hope Blitzen does well on it. Glad you have a great Vet.
We had this beautiful kitty I rescued that was just days old from a shed and bottle fed. So when she was diagnosed with renal failure at 10 we weren’t ready to just put her down. The vet said she had 3 months left to live feed her this special food and enjoy her. She just never got sick again and the special food was expensive and we just couldn’t afford it. She also got a good dose of coffee cream every morning that we reduced to just a few drops she lived to 18 so cats are amazingly resilient!
Who else loves how caring they are about all furry friends?! Our pets are part of our family and we have bottle fed our last two cata which a friend found abandoned in the countryside earlier this year.
Always been a HUGE Blitzen fan. Lazarus too. Kidney issues nearly got my brother Tigger but caught it in time. He lived 3 more great years before he got cancer. He lived to be 18. Love you Blitzen!! 🐱
Thank you for sharing your story, about a year and a half ago we lost our black cat Jack to kidney stones. He was 14. He had been diagnosed 2 years prior, we switched his food, paid thousands in vet bills to keep him going. The extra time that we got with him was worth every penny. He was my husbands cat (meaning that my husband already was his family before I showed up in the picture). He passed on a Saturday, my husband drives truck long haul and is gone Tuesday to Saturday afternoon every week.... Jack held on until Saturday afternoon, after his dad had showered, changed, and sat on the couch to relax from his hard week of work, he curled up at his dad's feet and passed away, it's as if Jack knew his Dad needed that moment to say goodbye. It's not an easy thing to deal with, the one thing to remember is that our beloved pets will be waiting for us across the rainbow bridge to heaven, and we will be reunited once again. I love cats. All animals, but cats have my heart. I will pray for Blitzie for a miracle. I remember someone saying they were peeing outside of box a few months ago. This is the first sign of them trying to tell you something isn't right. I had a cat who made sure I saw her peeing outside the box. They have their ways to try and let you know. Cats are always subtle.
I got two cats for my kids, Gus and Larry. When we got them Larry had a cough. We just thought it was a cold so we took them both to the vet where we found out that Larry was dying from leukemia. My kids were devastated and it also happened to be my sons birthday. They said all they could do was try and keep him comfortable. We later decided it was best to put him down. Keep in mind it was my sons 16th birthday. Our beloved 6 month old kitten Larry died December, 21 2019. We now have a healthy 1 year old tabby named Gus and we will never forget his brother Larry. We love you.
I’m so sorry to hear Blitzen was diagnosed with kidney failure. My heart is breaking for your family. Justine you said there is no kidney transplant for cats, but that is actually a thing! I work for Trupanion and we have covered several kidney transplants. It’s super expensive so most don’t financially have that option without insurance. As you were interested in being a vet, I thought you might find that interesting. Blitzen is so lucky to have you all as his family. Sending you lots of love and comfort.
So sorry to hear about Blitzen. Our precious 18 year old cat passed away a few months ago. She had a kidney disease. I am an American who moved to Norway to marry my Norwegian husband. Our cat, Miss Kitty, was just a kitten when she suddenlyappeared in our garden a few months after I moved here. She more of less adopted us as hers. She was my comfort pet. It was so hard being so far away from my family, but Miss Kitty helped make it a little bit better. I miss her so much. I hope Blitzen will not suffer and that you still have some precious time with him. Love and hugs from Norway.
I can relate as I went through this with my cat. She was about 17 and actually was my daughter’s cat and when she got married she left her with me because of her age, she felt she would be more comfortable in the home she was used to. Like yours she started laying around and I could tell she wasn’t using her litter box like normal. Prayers for the family.
I know how it is. My husband and i lost one of our cats a couple of years ago unexpectly and I was then one that found him almost under the bed the next day. I am so sorry about Blitzen. I have had 8 cats in our family at 1 time or another. Our cat who was 15 was fine when I went to sleep 8 months ago. I got up the next morning and he was dead. It hurts like crazy when they are your family. Just don't let him suffer. Lots of love and prayers to you all!
oh i am crying right along with you .. its so very hard when our pet children go to heaven .. I still grieve for my sweet Ginger ( a dog ) who was my hubby and i child ( we didn't have kids together ) and she has been gone 7 years .. keeping you in my prayers
I had to hand syringe water/food for the last week of my sweet baby life. We made the decision to put him down in Nov of 2017. My dog was 15 years old!! My sweet Spunkie boy was my world! Losing him was the hardest thing ever for me!! I will be praying for your precious cat and family during this difficult time! Love you guys!!

we had three cats who suffered the same disease. in effect, we are performing dialysis for them. it does buy them a little more time but, oh, it is a sad experience for the family. my heart is with you all. xox

Oh dear heavens! I am sitting here crying. I had a female black cat that looked just like him. She, too, out of nowhere got kidney failure but was too far gone and I had to say goodbye to her. She was the sweetest thing and such a good kitty. I can't believe how fast this happens. Prayers for sweet Blizten and for you guys. The hurt is real.
Fingers crossed that Blitzen will defy the odds. Our fur babies worry us almost as much as our human babies. He has had a wonderful and loving life with you all and I hope he has a few more years with you.
I am so sorry about your sweet baby. I have cried the whole video. It is so hard when you animals are sick. I have 2. Cats and when they are sick it hurts so much. Several years ago I had to put my sweet Joshua to sleep . He was 16 and it just broke my heart. I’m praying for your baby to get better.

I'm so sorry Blitzen is so ill and hope the meds kick in and help him feel better. I also have pets and when a thought of them passing creeps into my mind I shake my head to chase it away because they are my babies my family. I hope you are all managing as best you can, big hugs. xx

My cat lived till 17years old and he died of kidney failure and liver failure. He lived with it for 2years with a good quality of life. Once he started to suffer we then had him put down. I was only 10 at the time so he had been there longer than me and although I was distraught but I was always glad I'd had so many great years with him and that he did not have to suffer. The important thing is that you as a family get to spend time with each other and cherish his amazing life.
This video is making me cry. My kitty Snickers passed away almost three years from kidney failure. He was only five years old. My heart aches for you all. I’ll keep your kitty in prayers.

Thank goodness my 13 yr old daughter knew what was happening since her friends pup had it. It is called “reverse sneezing” so disturbing to witness. Prayers for Blitzen.
