This video I made because my guitar suddenly and unexpectedly lost all sound to the amp. With troubleshooting I found the issue and fixed it. I made this video because there wasn't one I could find that helped. So I made this to help anyone that may come into a similar situation.

This is the same issue with my emgs that came with my LTD esp ec 1000. I have had this guitar for 2 weeks 😑

I've been having this issue for awhile with the emg 81 set they have sound very faint and almost like theres 0 gain to them they sound acoustic at max gain plug in different guitar im playin death metal makes no sense i re soldered everything unplugged re plugged it all in and sounds exact same not broken but not there

Great video! I just installed a solderless system on my Firebird and one of my volume pots turn in the opposite direction.

Turn the plug to that pot around, if you can.

Id probably check the connections to the battery or anything related to the battery. The issue I had that made me make this video was that I had no sound. Nothing. I did how ever at one time was plug my guitar in with no battery and hear how it sounded. It sounded dull and quieter, but it had sound.

@@builtbyrock8343 Hey, just an update, found the problem It was the input jack, put it all the way in and loses volume and makes distorted tones clean, put it all the way out and barely in and its really bassy and put it in justttt right in the middle it sounds as it should, gonna get a new input jack tmrw thanks for helping :)

@@JamesBurnett-re6vs Nope, as in putting the cable fully into the input jack, and as a final update i found out it wasnt the input jack so i just put it into repair for a rewiring instead! So much hassle but it hopefully should be fixed at the end of it.

Hey great job! I have a question about buzzing/humming noises. I swapped my les paul's pickups with EMG 81/85 set and carefully check all the cables, adjusted the height of pickups... But, when I usually play closer to the strings and my hand touches to the bridge pick up. When I switch to bridge pickup there is really annoying sound, it also distorts the sound. I double checked diagram both my les paul and humbucker set. EMGs don't need to grounded by bridge, so first I tried grounding by only switch itself, got the sound... and then I add the bridge grounding, didn't work as well. I can't figure out where is the problem... Output jack maybe? I need some help...

Id troubleshoot the toggle selector switch next. im not familiar with Les Paul set ups since I don't own one but with all that you have troubleshooted. I look at that since EMGs doesn't provide that with the kit and you usually reuse that part. Maybe look at the soldering or even the switch itself my be getting worn.

@@builtbyrock8343 I just adjust the height a little bit lower to not touch it. But I assume it is about the either grounding on switch or output jack. Gotta re-build the electronics. Thanks for the information!

I have the opposite, I get the guitar on full volume, but the volume knob does nothing, it just has one volume

Yeah hard to troubleshoot when that isnt something that is likely to go bad but some cases they do.

Does it start with the neck pick up is sounding dull but the bridge is fine. If so Its the battery dying.

@@builtbyrock8343 no, it’s the overall signal just seems kind of weak and less gain than usual. I had a shop screw the input jack tighter and after that the signal just seems like half way or something. When I adjust volume knob it goes from full to almost nothing very quickly.

so i got a set of emgs put in and they sound like total shit i think the dude fucked them up they sound acoustic on a good metal tone all my other guitars sound pitch perfect amazing tone plug in my emgs and they are acoustic or sound really shitty and yes i have tried 3 different batteries

Wow that kind of worries me I have 3 basses with the solderless pickups . my last one I just swapped out the EMG J HZ pickups with Fender 4th gen Noiseless because the EMGs had such a low output . Might make me go to Seymour Duncan's. 😮

i think my issue was a rarity which i had to find out the problem myself. if it was a common thing. there would be more topics with this same problem.
