Man I wish I didn't know that the story ends with everybody's character development being thrown out the window and that everything that happens is more or less meaningless. For the love of all that is holy they better do an anime only ending if they get that far.

@SmiffyLel to put it simply, the light novels build up Maou coming to terms with his actions and responsibilities as the Demon King and Emi & him ending up together. But the author wanted to shock the fans I guess so he did a 180 by making Maou a human and having the one girl become is gf. There's also a hint of it becoming a harem with Emi but Maou is hesitant as he doesn't want to treat her like just wife #2. Of course there's more dumb shit I'm leaving out but most people who know and have read the ending despise it.

Funfact: Satan Jacob is 300 years old while Emilia is aged around 18 to 24, her father is around 40 to 50 though later reveal may state he is actually than he appears to be.

The second season actually made me remember why I don't really like Emi... As much I understand her craving for vengeance, she's actually like... Couldn't understand Maou and his position as demon king, literally and simply a king of the demons, nothing much nothing less, Emi knew how the world works, she knows the church business and her job as hero but maybe because Maou is an enemy, she seems unable to comprehend that simple part... Also the understandable yet annoying constant violence...
