The French aren‘t any better with their extreme arrogance. They refuse to speak English and just asume you need to speak French even if you‘re a foreigner. As a German who visited a bunch of different countries speaking to people in English was perfectly fine except in France.
@pyxelly0506
@pyxelly0506 3 года назад
@@s_h136 Well that's funny. I'm french and I can say the exact same thing about Germany. When I spoke english because I struggled for more complex german sentence, they just started to speak german. Doesn't matter how hard I tried to talk english, they wanted to make fun of my bad german because when I tried to speak their langage, they just laughed. I've been in Germany twice and it was always like that. The only country where I met rude people in every street (except Tübingen. My savior city and a beautiful one). And it's truly not the only bad thing I've experience in Germany. People were rude all the time, the worst people I've met honestly. In their country AND as tourists, they didn't care about manners. But still, I was talking about returning because I know the all country can't be like that and it's just my few "nightmare vacations" that I will tell around family reunion and Germany was bad luck because it happened twice. Why not a third time again but in a good way this time ? Because Tübingen wasn't bad at all for example ! Try to do the same before bashing an entiere group of people. Our opinions are dumb. Mine about german people (i'm sure it's what you think) and yours about french people. French people are arrogant but not that arrogant except in some big cities (Paris is the worst). French people will talk to you in english and if they don't, it's just because they don't know how to guide you or just that they're busy because you know, life (of course some assholes will do it on purpose). We tend to be arrogant sometimes but stop please, we're not that entitled to think french must be learn prior to visit France. Otherwise I could tell that german people expect you to talk german when you're visiting and again it's dumb to think such a think. Our country are open to others for a long time now. I'm not bashing your experience but bashing french people (when honestly this show did quite dirty on us) just because you've met some jerks is completely useless. Because you will encounter people who can bash your country just the same, we all have bad luck when we travel. That's all. Don't speak about your experience like it was a fact.

Bad? Bad doesn't even begin to describe it. I was always a girl that didn't care about clothes and dressed as she wanted to, and I've NEVER seen such amount of style failures. Emily manages to botch a coctel outfit with a little black dress (which should be unfailable by anyone with functioning retinas), and even the black opera outfit, which could have been perfect, is destroyed by her horrible hairdo and her inability to distinguish a choker from a headdress (of which you can get tons for 3 euros). I've never been so offended in lieu of other people, but seriously... the fact that this kid thinks she's wearing stylish clothes, and the horror that some people have written they are good... Urgh.

i hated emily’s outfits SO BAD she wore a dress with the eiffel tower to her first day of work and wears bras with the eiffel tower on them why couldn’t the stylists just give her outfits that an actual person would wear?? but camille’s outfits were super cute
@emmagerli9426
@emmagerli9426 3 года назад
It seems like they would purposely dress Emily to make her look tacky and overwhelming, I actually think that styling really does complete characters in this show, also it shows that Emily doesnt change her style at all during the time period she’s staying in Paris, that symbolizes no personal growth to me. Also It is funny to think that everyone is so stylish and sleek compared to Emily (lets admit it she’s just a walking cliché that doesn’t know how to properly dress), plus it makes no sense that she has that many Chanel and at the same time she’s always described as a non rich. I just dont get this

No one, NO ONE can do things this badly unless it was on purpose. At least ONE outfit should have been acceptable, if only for statistical reasons". The woman in charge of the clothing is supposed to know what she's doing, and girl, if it was done on purpose, kudos to her, because I would have ran out of bad ideas after the frankendress of seven types of pattern.

I hope that was done on purpose. What's even funnier is that she wears THOUSANDS of dollars on designer clothing. Some of the coats she wears are two sizes bigger than she needs, as are some of the shoes. Maybe those were loans and the clothing designer had to use them before giving them back.

Hello, French (and parisian) girl here, Emily in Paris was interesting for one thing, it shows how tourists see Paris, and it is refreshing to have this lense some time. An the other hand Emily acts the way that make some French people hate americans, and the cultural problems aren't well represent. They consider French to be rude and unwelcoming when Emily is self-centered and not polite in any manner (she didn't say "hello" or "thanks" on the bakery for exemple, and the series makes it look lke the fact she doesn't speak french annoy the baker)... Another things that made me go "uhhg": Emily lives in a "chambre de bonne" apparently. This is not a chambre de bonne, this is a very cute apartment in the center of Paris, and very expensive A "chambre de bonne" is a 14 meter square room, with a bed, a kitchennette, a shower, and sometime the toilets are in the corridor (for the different "chambre de bonne", on the same floor) They pictured a romantizised Paris, with a tourist staying over and not believing in any change possible because the us way is the only possible way. I have so many more argument but i'll stop here. I hope you still like Paris after watching this series and you'll come one day, We don't treat people this way (just don't be an Emily 😅)

Yep. Honestly we Chinese (or at least I myself) stopped caring about how the white Americans trash all over Chinese/China in their tv shows/movies now cuz there’s SO MANY OF THEM. Even sometimes they have to throw in some little racist jokes, that just disgusts me so much honestly. Now I kinda know why they screaming about stopping racism at the same time “I can’t breathe” happened.

@@sherrychung2456 it's scary how normalised racism is towards asians, ESPECIALLY east asians, in western/american media
@sherrychung2456
@sherrychung2456 Год назад
@@naan000 exactly, they often label themselves as “fighting against racism” and often only apologizes to the African American and native American community (which is a must) but leaving the Asian community out especially for the East Asians. Like how many movies out there are revealing the Chinese workers who encountered serious racism discrimination in San Francisco while they were the ones who built the train tracks and the whole city? NONE. Even there were three Chinese workers on Titanic who survived due to their courage and smartness yet got attacked by the media at the time saying “they’re not white how could they survived”. There’re thousands of stories like these that are never been told in the Western/American mainstream media.

That or some (but very few) tourists will speak loudly in place of speaking the language. Almost like the french (or whatever country it is) will understand the language if they scream. There french, not deaf

as much as I'd like to, can't really blame Americans alone for that... there are people like that from all over.
