I heard her perform In Baltimore . Since I didn’t have no money to get tickets I sat by the water down the inner harbor and listened to her beautiful voice. It literally stopped me in my tracks😭🤭😍

Dee Palmer “Open your ears” is key, and because of that I understand both sides. Both Emily King and Gregory Porter (different areas of music but both super talented) were recommended to me by the same person, and they both initially rang odd to my ears for a long time because I was listening to them in passing (both on car trips, actually). For Emily, I decided to give her a very focused, in-depth listen in the hopes of getting as much as I could out of concert tickets (for her) I bought as a Father’s Day gift for the recommender. “Down” hooked me instantly, and “Georgia” made the next deep impression. They gave me a feel for the Emily King sound where I might have missed it in subtler songs like BYIMM this one here. I fell in love with whole EP, then “Distance” got me into her next album. By the time the concert was supposed to happen, I was more excited for it than he was! And the concert still stands as the best concert I’ve ever been to, as she and Jaime Woods absolutely destroyed the set. I encourage everyone to give her second, third, and fourth chances - it’s worth it to come to understand the music and add someone great to your musical favorites!
