Emily going "this is us :3" to all the cuddling cat stickers and Daidus getting more and more embarrassed is so silly goofy. I love third wheeling artists
I seriously love this channel. As someone who has given up art and drawing. Watching you two attempt to draw and even learn new techniques on camera really makes me wanna pick up a pencil and start drawing again, too
@dooplets._.5776 It is, and I severely mean it. I haven't watched their last few uploads because I actually get sad about wanting to draw again. I don't have any art supplies or tools in my house, but when I can afford some, I'd totally love to watch the channel again and learn to love making art again. I really suck at doing art so I want to practice myself to improve my skills and become a better artist who has fun doing what he creates. I'm tired of just appreciating the beauty in art without being able to create those same beauties
@@ncrveteranranger4454 dont put yourself down so much. I think if you cared a little less about your skill level and enjoyed the process without being a perfectionist you would love it more. I say this as someone with this problem. But I encourage you to try and get into it! Don't worry about how it looks in the beginning man, have some fun!
I relate a lot with this sentiment. Drawing use to be fun for me but then I hurt myself by comparing my skills and art with other artists and felt sad that I wasn't getting likes or comments on my pieces. Even now I have the problem of getting too frustrated if I do decide to draw and it doesn't turn out right. What has been helping me is following the advice of Jacob from Drawfee, that you should just draw for a set amount of time (i.e. 5 minutes, 1 hour, etc.) and once time is up you can stop drawing or decide to keep going. The most important part of this process (at least for me) is to not care whether the drawing itself is good or bad, what matters is that you drew something. Since following this advice, if I do decide to draw, it's not a frustrating process anymore. Like I can actually relax. BUT if I do start to feel any negative emotion or feel kinda done, then I stop drawing. I still hesitate to draw when I feel like drawing, but the thought of it doesn't feel nearly as heavy and mentally/emotionally draining anymore. And like you, watching Spilled Ink is adding that inspiration and urge to go draw again!
Daidus opening one gatcha bag, getting what he wanted, and screaming "IM AWAKE NOW!!!!" encapsulates the truest form of a gatcha addict (saying this as one)
Seeing Emily draw a fanart of Witch Hat Atelier made me so happy! The manga is amazing and I have really high hopes for the anime...just hope they do justice to the great storytelling
I think the reason Emily’s style is so recognizable is because she has such a shiny bubbly chibi style, like how she lightly shades the eyes adding small eye shines and has very thin lines. So it stands out compared to other styles
As someone who mainly only has ever done traditional art, I can tell you the stress of inking a sketch doesn't really go away. You just learn to take a deep breath and hope for the best.
on which note, for anyone who really wants to do a manga but can't do the once a week forever maybe consider publishing a manga-style comic on tapas, or self-publishing on your own website? has the benefit of being able to draw digitally and not destroy yourself with stress lmao
would like to point out the cute coincidence of the design of the ghibli gacha bags being the same screencap that emily redrew for the poster paints episode !
Copics have a color system: Letter: color family 1st number: saturation( higher numbers are less saturated) 2nd number: brightness (higher numbers are darker) Example: E93 means “earth” (as in brown), with a saturation of 9 and and brightness of 3 This means that B19 is much darker than B41, or that R29 is more saturated than R59. Hope this makes copics less scary Btw I’d like to see you guys use the same dip pens manga artists use
So a Dungeons and Dragons themed episode would be neat...I kind of just wanna see what Daidus would do for a character. Plus there would be more of Plumeria
Emily and Daidus just aren’t the same if Emily isn’t able to yell “HEEeeeYYYyyy!!” when Daidus jokes about her, and say something is “SSOOooo CUUuuTTteeEe!”
ahhh that was my meowgical light stamp rally that you participated in !! thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed all the cute things you saw and bought, and had a fun time at ax !! ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ 💗
Oh my god the Frieren poster made me cry too just now, knowing that it took Himmel’s entire lifetime for her to want to understand emotions, connections and love. His love was doomed from the start and he knew it, but also knew that it would be eternal since she would take it and his memories with her.
Can I post an project idea suggest? Design each other tiny plushies then swap, then needle felt them. Make sure to get leather thimbles for the two fingies that are holding the project
Seeing these videos really help me heal from like being destroyed by art school. It’s incredibly healing especially whenever I hear Daidus actually like his art. It even motivates me to probably start up traditional again and enjoy it.
For kneadable erasers, I enjoy rolling like a little sausage and just rolling it. It takes some time, but it's also a bigger area, so it evens out lmao
There definitely should be "practice a thing you've not confetable with (i.e.hands and feet) series" (not sure how to word that better lol) and just practice whatever you need practice with.
Spilled Ink has become one of the things I look forward to 💕 I love seeing you both explore different mediums and styles. it's really been inspiring and motivating me to get into art again! Love the longer length videos, too!
Daidus is so based for liking Ranma 1/2 !!! I didn't grow up with the anime, but it's one of the best mangas I've ever read/watched so SUPER HAPPY they announced the remake!!! I love your content; its so funny and wholesome
Omg bro I'm SO glad to hear Emily and Soleil are still close after her move! Some of my favorite videos feature Soleil and Emily's friendship! I got so worried cause we haven't seen her in awhile (which is fine. She's separate from RU-vid and deserves her own privacy) but I'm happy that they're still friends. That feels like such a childhood friendship deal!
I couldn't stop smiling when you guys gassed yourselves up each time you were really happy with something you did! I love seeing artists getting hyped up and impressing themselves! Keep it up!!! :-) ♥
The fanarts look so good!!! I really want a copy and hang it on my wall. I love the black and white contrast. Also Emily is valid for spending a lot in artist alley cuz those pieces are so beautiful.
This is the type of content that makes you want to draw! It's nice that we get to hear your thoughts as you draw and seeing all the changes you made throughout the video very chill.
I love Emily’s taste in merch and her yapping brings me genuine joy- I want you to know Emily I 100% endorse all your purchases and as a con artist my goal is to be on that cuteness level! 💪
How you use the kneeded eraser is up to you. The main purpose is to lighten lines without blending them in which case you should dab but if you’re using it as a substitute for a normal eraser the side to side is fine
The background music used during the sketching timelapse really hit me personally...the saxophone instrumentals reminded me of my uncle who was an incredible musician but unfortunately passed away due to cancer five years ago. Thank you video editor/Daidus and Emily for choosing this music! I promise it didn't go unnoticed.
Thanks for this channel, it really showcases the joy in stepping outside of your comfort zone and making art. The finished pieces look amazing! (Also I'm surprised there's someone else who keeps falling asleep trying to watch Howl's Moving Castle, I've tried 3 times lol)
both turned out so epic! at the end of emily's i wondered what she could do with screentones, to add some grays and texture, i think it would be super interesting to see you guys play around with screen tones in the future
Question for Emily: would you use sticker books? The whole idea with sticker books is that the pages are made of sticker release paper; so you can put stickers on them and you can always move them around, take them off to put them elsewhere, etc. I know artists like Cloverleafpie and Orientium have really cute ones. I ask because I remember you saying in a room tour that you just put all of your stickers in a drawer or something, so I thought a sticker book might be more organized and take less space 😂. Love seeing you two excited over your AX haul, even with Daidus’ growing concern with each item 🤣. Always good vibes with you two 🩷💙
Wow, I remember Soley being in your old vlogs. But I was sure you aren’t friends anymore considering how many years went on and you even moved to a different country. It’s so wholesome you are both still best friends😭
you guys should get light boards! They shine a light so you can trace or ink over your sketch and still keep it! A lot of mangakas use it just in case they make a mistake
every time i watch yalls video, i am always inspired and like have a driven motivation to draw. Every time, like every single time. i don’t know what it is, you guys are amazing
I have been doing traditional art for a long time and i have a tip about kneadable erasers to share if you don't mind : If you guys want to lightly erase your sketch, roll the kneadable eraser on the paper. Doing that should lightly erase a section of the sketch! I hope this helps you guys with your traditional art journey!
I am SO HAPPY RANMA 1/2 IS COMING BACK! I've been saving up to buy the collection of figures they have but they are super expensive, so I hope they release new ones ToT
I’m addicted to this channel, I can’t stop watching it. It lifts my spirits even if I am having a bad day. Suggestion: you should draw studio Goga kobo’s work, I think it suits your style!
These videos are so fun to just have playing in the background and listening to while drawing for company. It makes me feel like we’re all hanging out together
I loved the haul and it’s awesome that you love supporting other artists. I think it’d be fun to see you guys try out halftone paper! Since you guys live in Japan it should be easier to get ahold of
it's funny, how i started watching these as a second monitor thing or because i enjoy you guys content, energy and chemistry. and lately i've stopped what i'm doing to focus and watch. and AMAZINGLY started drawing again after like 10 years of not even trying to pickup a pencil to draw.
I love watching these when they’re up on Fridays! I draw traditionally more often and I get that worry of messing up a line and the colors, and I applaud both your work and joy for it. It’s such a nice feeling when you finish something. Funny enough, I finished some pieces while listening/watching!
I am so invested in Daidus' Ranma 1/2 fanart, I got into Ranma 1/2 in high school and BEGGED my friends to get into it with me but they watched the first episode and saw tiddies and called me horny so I ended up watching it by myself for years,,, UNTIL NOW ‼️ I'm also in the process of making Ranma 1/2 fanart and [hopefully] prints and lil keychains in the future ! I'm so happy someone else is excited about the reboot 😊
I started this video with the complete intent of drawing fanart alongside them, and then ended up spending two hrs scrolling on pintrest for smth to draw fanart for😭
(52:37 - 52:51) depending on if I’m doing traditional or digital, are usually just take a picture of my hand in whatever pose I want and I just trace it….I am that lazy….That’s how I’ve been doing it…. It’s always hard to try to find poses in the way you want them to look so usually I just take pictures of myself or I just find some other way…. But you’ll get there eventually! By the way, love your guises art!
This is awesome! If you guys ever want to save a step in the process, like you like the sketch, or like the line art and want to save it: I'd recommend scanning your piece in. That way if you mess it up later, at least you have a copy of what it looked like before. I'm sure you guys know that already, but yeah! These pieces are amazing and fantastic! I would buy from you at an artist alley :)
