Shaq, my guy, the song wasn't about Stan. I was kinda frustrated you seemed to miss that. Stan is dead. This is his little brother - "And here's an autograph for your brother, I wrote it on a starter cap." His little brother, Mathew Mitchel, is coming for revenge because Stan killed himself because of Eminem. Love your reactions my guy, love the barology, but you missed a very important part of the song, that it wasn't Stan but his little brother.
It was kinda frustrating for me too lol thought for sure when he mentioned his name he would’ve caught it, after he already didn’t catch it when he heard the starter cap line lol
This song is how stans brother feels about him since he's brother killed himself on Stan, its not about how eminem feels about his fans. One of the most underrated Eminem songs of all time.
It is about how Eminem feels about his fans. He's using this story as a way to express himself. He's holding himself accountable. It's deeper than what's on the surface.
Bai Su Zhen most all of us knew what it was from jump. He drops several hints that it’s Mathew singing to Em. Just cause you didn’t get it doesn’t mean the rest of us didn’t either
@@titanary68 So you caught all the hints during your first listen and put it together basically as the song still went on. Is that what you're saying?
@@Aussie.Owlcoholic well obviously Stan isn't a real person but Stan's name was Stanley Mitchell and the first part of the song is from the perspective of his brother Matthew Mitchell. "But you could've signed an autograph for Matthew. That's my little brother man. He's only six years old. We waited in the blistering cold for you for 4 hours and you said no. That's pretty shitty man. You're like his fuckin' idol. He wants to be just like you, man. He likes you more than I do."
When Eminem released The Marshall Mathers LP 2, his discography length was approximately 9 hours and 45 minutes long. That's why Matthew drove around his neighborhood for that long. He was essentially listening to Eminem's entire discography before finding him
lol at the end where you said not everyone is going to understand this song... add yourself to that list because this song went way over your head. He's not rapping from the perspective of stan or another crazy fan. He's rapping from the perspective of Mathew Mitchel Stan's little brother. Upset that Eminem ignored Stan and continued to ignore Mathew. Mathew grew up blaming Eminem for all his problems in live to the point where he went to kidnap and kill Eminem.
There is a thought that the 9 hours and 45 minutes is the length of Eminem’s discography. (without collaborations ) Infinite 37 minutes The Slim Shady LP 59 minutes Marshall Mathers LP 72 minutes The Eminem Show 77 minutes Encore 77 minutes Relapse 76 minutes Relapse: Refill 33 minutes Recovery 76 minutes The Marshall Mathers LP 2 78 minutes = 585 = 9 hours and 45 minutes
No way...thats insanely clever if it was intentional by Eminem. Like Stan's younger brother had been lurking in the background of every single one of his songs just waiting and plotting..
kings mma he says “here’s your broncos hat back cause they suck” and “Eminem killed by M&M, Matthew Mitchell” and “this is for Stan” everyone who likes em should catch it the first time through lol
This is Matthew, Stan's little brother. He wants to avenge Stan's death that Eminem caused by ignoring him. I think you should watch it again with that in mind, because you missed the whole meaning. Also, the last part after "I also represent" is not part of the story. The story ends there, this is Eminem saying that the whole story of Stan and Matthew represents the inner thinking of Eminem not paying attention to his fans and his worry that his fans will leave him one day if he does not stop ignoring them, and he is going to end up "dead" by his fans. I think you did not understand the song fully, there is a deeper meaning. Watching this is so frustrating because I just want to tell you but I can't, I just have to watch you listen to it without understanding.
Truth to be told EM didnt ignore him I would say. Thing is famous people get a lot of messages from fans they cant respond to all of them. I mean EM also did wright to Stan at the end of a stan song which means he would have responded. But I guess we will never know what really happened at the end of a day in all honesty. Did Stan did what he did yes did his brother kidnap EM yes and tryed to kill him but killed himself in the proces. My thought Em didnt ignore them just didnt put enough time in responding to fans but it could be just me tho both songs are real deep
@@D_10S nope...in last verse Eminem dies and that's why his voice fades in the end nd it's slim shady talking to Eminem and making him feel regrate about his carrier
@@mehulchavada1203 No it's not slim. It's stan who's talking to him, "I'm the nightmare you fell asleep in and woke up still in I'm your karma closing in with each stroke of a pen Perfect time to have some remorse to show for your sin", he's dead because of Stan so I think it's Stan telling him these things.
at the end Slim it's talking to Em before he dies, right?! I mean even the voice it's so demonic and it's shady 100%!! Something like "look what you did and how you end up here.."
The first portion Of the song is "Amutuer" because it is written by Matthew. It's a diss to Eminem. Than with the flow switches near the final 2 minutes. This is Eminem rapping from his perspective.
This is mathew mitchel stans lil brother. Eminem didnt contact him after his brother's death. "You left our family in shambles, pretend he didnt exist.
It don't sound right? It's the second part of a story oof It's stans lil bro Mathew Mitchel taking revenge (on the surface level) He talked about how he's supposed to forget he had a brother called stan and all, and the rest you can figure out.
jatin soney de ja vu off that album too. Day and the life of an addict . Both amazing songs. Relapse was underrated to me. Half of the album is for sure really good songs
I liked your reaction. But.... Come on coach !!!! You missed the craziest part. Matthew Mitchell is Stan little brother. It's from his perspective. So frustrating seeing you missed that. That's tough.
This is the perspective of stan's little brother. He is all grown up and willing to take revenge of his elder brother's death because he said that Eminem completely forgot about him and his family in hard times.
I think he kidnaped >EM and killed himself in the process whille trying to take revenge for Stan. I think that is what happened EM said it in later songs tho I aint sure
"I'm the bad guy who makes fun of people that die In plane crashes and laughs As long as it ain't happened to him Slim Shady, I'm as crazy as Eminem and Kim combined"
Bro this is top five of my favorite songs by him just because it goes over so much of his insecurities, drug habits, concerts just everything but the deepest part of this song I love is what Mathew (Stan's brother) represents. He represents the backlash of his actions through the years. And how even when you think your invincible and what you brush off can come back even at your peak it can bring you down. It all comes back around. This is the deepest song it's so great Eminem truly is a 🐐
In the last 2 min its basically eminem's conscious telling him that all everything that he hates and all that stuff he went thru hes becoming that. Part when it said "im the bullies you hate that you became." Its hes saying that hes become the bully. And that part where it says "im that time thats almost up that u haven't acknowledged". Thats basically saying Eminem hasnt said when hes going to retire and that he wont but deep down em knows he going to put down pen at some point
@@crippledlegendx What the arse-fucking ARE u talking about mate , i think i gave my opinion just like anyone else does , i'm even allowed to say that the whole album was trash that's MY opinion and YOU have no right to judge it , Plus if you're saying that the whole album a 10 / 10 then i'll have to tell u that you're being a stan here lol , I am a die hard Em fan he is my favorite rapper but i don't think that only in lyricsm / wordplay wise but not in general , Hell the majority of ppl don't think that this album was perfect . Well , Recovery is , Kamikaze is , MMLP is , Eminem show is but this is a just "Good" So before u make that dramatic ass reply , Try hard to respect other ppls opinions
Em himself said when he was writing this song, he wanted to do it from Stan's brother perspective that he wanted to kill eminem cuz he hold him responsible for what happened to his brother. That is main purpose of the song if I remember correctly. Man he was on another level when he wrote it, it's a masterpiece🔥🔥🔥
ClutchGaming Beautiful help get me through my divorce. Made me stay angry. I literally listen to this through my dr beats 1st day of court. Got full custody of my 2 kids. True story. Shaq react to Beautiful couch.
Just a quick side note I know this is really old. But when he says he is driving around for 9 hours and 45 minutes..... That was the time added up ofall of Eminem's CDs that he released up until that point. 9 hours and 45 minutes I used to have a link to the page that showed each song and added everything up but if you're interested or don't believe me a quick Google search will do the trick . I just thought that was crazy
The second verse is the most sonically sound verse I've ever heard. Nearly every word rhymes, while he's describing a story. That for me is the best Eminem verse to listen to. But a reaction video on the song would probably get the video demonitized 🤣
Em is seriously a genius in a lyrical storytelling marketing way. I honestly believe he had a 20 year plan with album titles, songs, timing, bars, collabs.....I think his best work is yet to come. He has something in him that forces him to be the best there ever was, nothing less. Just think of what kinda album will be released after he dies, I bet we will all be left speechless with things he reveals from his grave. Its a never ending true story with him. I still catch new meanings of bars in songs I've heard 40-50 times. Lol and I've heard every song he's ever made at least 20x each minimum. 🤔😬
The last two minutes is the deepest most poetic verse of any Eminem song. He uses the music to simulate the water putting into the trunk as it gets louder and louder. The lyrics are incredible "portrait of an artist trapped in his own drawing" Eminem is saying he is forever seem as Shady (the art he created).
One reactor said that Matthew Mitchell's character was also a shadow of Em himself. You can take the same bars that were said against Eminem then flip them to the perspective of Em saying the same things to the rap game. How genius is that of Em to do?! His brain is alien! An example is when he talked about being brushed off when he may have needed you most. Em needed hip-hop as medicine and he felt like the game was trying to constantly throw him away. He was so immersed in rap that he felt betrayed by the very thing he loved. If you listen to it in that perspective too, it will blow your mind how it makes sense both ways somehow.
"treat your bedroom window like I reached my full potential: I peeked" fits well when you remember "piqued" is defined as irritation or resentment as from a wound/provoked to action. Might be one of those reaches we sometimes do, but what is the harm in a reach? Just means that the artist didn't intentionally add a third or fourth meaning to a bar but its there nonetheless. peeked/peaked/piqued
In the Song “Stan” one of Stan’s letters to Em says “Remember when we met in Denver, you said if I'd write you you would write back.” Now Matthew is giving back the Broncos Starter hat the Em signed for him. Clearly Matthew and Stan were from Denver. 🤷🏻♂️
This song gives me shivers every time...why...... I went to see Eminem for the 1st time July 2014 and he opened with this but he opened with the last 2 mins.... Lights when on him rest went off curtain dropped Eminem just belting out his rap then threw the MIC stand.... SHIVVERS.
I listened to this song so many times before I realized what was going on. It is not fair to expect it to get digested right away. Especially when Em is good at double meanings.
Yo coach plz react to Beautiful Eminem, I’m going to keep requesting every video till you do it. This like my 12 video of yours I posted this comment hopefully it happens soon!
Shaq this was stan's little brother matthew that got older and wanted revenge against eminem. He threw back the broncos hat from where they met in denver. Listen to both songs in a row and yall will get it all. Stans little brother gettin revenge on em for not caring . its also Em reflecting back and hes able to see outside of himself and see his life from the perspective of all the "stan" fans and even matthew type fans. Hes acknowledging his mistakes he made but its also a way for him to get a better understanding of how he feels. Then he shared it with us...this shit is Genius... But it gets overlooked cuz its deep. The last part is some of his best lyrics if u pay attention. Hes talking as matthew mitchell to Eminem. really its Marshall talking to Eminem and to all of us and being honest to help us see things more clearly. This song wont impact listeners like stan did but to me its better in ways cuz of the last part and the self reflection. Not every1 can take it there like that. Another reason hes the 🐐👑... I just wanted to explain it for any1 reading this that may have missed it. Thanks
Brad Prentice I agree about the last part being some of his best lyrics...I get goosebumps listening to the last 2 mins of this song...but, I did not understand who he was talking about or from what perspective...thanks for clearing that up
That last part was the opening of Eminem,s concert in Wembley live.. 80 thousand odd people.. I was near the front...goosebumps when the curtain dropped and he did that last part of bad guy live..then went straight into Eminem - square dance
This song and MMLP 2 in general bring so many memories, man. I was in 10th grade when it dropped and I knew every goddamn track on the album by heart and we'd listen to it in class non-stop Good times, man.
I'm so glad I got to see his underground to come up and still livin' in a time of this Goat. What pisses me off are those that say he don't have a 0lace in hip hop when he's 9ne 9f the last real hip hop heavyweights and will forever be for the rest of his life and then years later right there with Biggy, Pac, Dre, Snoop, Wu Tang, LL, and the others that paved the way all the way back to run dmc
Hey Shaq, cool fact. The girl singing is Sarah Jaffe, I got to open for her back in 2011 at Good Records a local record store 15mins from where I live. Two years later she was singing on this. :)
Duuuude!! I been asking forever!! Told him every line is straight barz!! Nobody else seems to even kno that song or some shit cuz never seen anybody else say
Em’s another type of elite genre. Its like he’s making very story heavy movies but only with words. Maybe thats why this song didnt need a music video. When he dissed himself after M&M, it felt like if your soul hoped out of your self and tells you all the sins that you did.
Man that last verse I felt in my heart. It's not even just about rap, it can be anything in life. You can be the best at your everyday man job but eventually you get old and someone else replaces you and does it better. It's so deep it can hurt for those of us getting older in our lives. Enjoy every day of your youth young folks.
people dont understand it's suppose to be "cringe" in the beginning and second verse because it's told from Stan's littles brothers POV and he's not a rapper. hes a child.
yesssss whether Stan was ever real or not... in the first video Stan has a “little brother Matthew who was 8 years old stood in the blistering cold 4 hours for him to just say no”...so this is from Matthews perspective bc Stan died in part 1... “this is for you big brother” “I was gonna bury you next to my brother” etc.. Em is on another level! It goes over so many peoples heads!!! This is why I love him! Listen more than once! You learn new stuff each time you listen! Barzzzzz
I have much respect for this song because like you said he acknowledged what he was and what he had forgotten but he also acknowledged that he's not going to change for anybody he's going to be who he is but he ain't going to forget about the fans and where you came from who helped him and who stood in his way he is and forever will be the goat
Bro thank you for breaking down the song for me. I thought I was a Stan but I didn't get this song until just now I know the every single Eminem song ever put out has some meaning 10 levels above or below what we can initially understand and I knew this song was the same way so again thank you bro
