Oh, man. This brings me back to 2009. I'm a much different person than I was (still an antisocial introverted loner, just less energetic and permanently exhausted), but I feel the same way every time I hear this song... full of all kinds of emotions. Definitely an amazing song and one of Eminem's best.
The chorus can be interpreted in many ways. Some see it as how Em wishes he could be normal. Others see it as a person claiming that they wish they felt no pain. But for me…..it reminds me of my younger brother. He’s autistic and non-verbal. It makes me question how he views the world. I’m listening this for someone I care about and it’s their fav song, I just hope they know I’ll be there for them… I don’t want to ask them to be okay because it’s more than being okay about your feelings, I’ve never met anyone like them and I’m petrified of how to be with them.. without stepping a boundary or being a liability. They know that they have an issue with their mental health but boy they are so intelligent with everything, fighting everyday. I’ve nothing but respect and my warmth to offer.

When I listen to this song it reminds me of my dad. My dad left to another state and I won't be seeing him for a while. He is watching the boarder in a different state. My mom is losing her husband today to cancer, and all I’ve felt this last week of knowing this day was coming is inner reflection. I’m not taking away from my moms emotions at all, all I’m saying is it has made me sit and think about life. Really look at who I’ve been to her, and realizing she’s losing the best person she’s ever had even over me. I’m her only child but her husband is the only person I’ve seen make her as happy as I’ve ever seen her be. But I just can’t help to look inward at what I’ve done to myself and to her.
