As a mother who made a lot of mistakes as a parent,like a lot of us, my heart goes out to Eminem. It isnt easy being a parent who raises kids, with no support (emotionally, spiritually,etc) especially when you're a kid yourself and you married the wrong person. Nothing you do seems to be appreciated. Sometimes its hard for a kid to see that their mom is going through the same abuse they did when its happening at the same time. Its easy for folks to judge real quick,but not easy to try to help the person and their kids in a situation like that. Em and Miley did a beautiful job on this song. Marshall,thank you for ALWAYS writing what you feel,and being honest with what you went through. You've really grown up to be farther than what other kids in your situation has.

Every word you've written I can relate to. Raised 2 kids with no child support..married the wrong man. Had my 1st kid at 18 and 2nd at 22. I did my very best and thank God me and my daughter are very close but my son hasn't spoken to me in almost 4 years because I fell into alcohol and drug abuse when my daughter went to college and my son was left behind to witness my life crumble around him. 💔 he also wrote a song about me. I know time will hopefully heal wounds and I hope he understands one day all the things I did to give them the best life I could. ❤️

@@lydibug51 Did the same thing and was furious when my family stated I was marrying the wrong man. I was 18 and pregnant. Stayed in the wrong marriage for 20 years because I did not want to end up like my mom alone. However it was so Toxic I left, both my kids were adults when I left however, I wasted so much time on hoping it would get better so much pain. Love this song!

I love this song because I get I blamed every thing on my mom then I became a too young mom at 40 I've had to understand she did what she thought was best just like my kids are messed up but not because I didn't love them I was going through it 2. My oldest went through it with me so did my younger 2 they just don't remember everything. So mom I forgive you I was a stupid kid and I didn't understand please forgive me. We, as single moms, don't realize how much heartache we put our kids through because we don't know how to let go of what could have been. My son is 14 and is currently at an institution for all the trauma from his dad. I'm also trying my best to better the people I let around my kids and especially me as well. We as human seek conform and sometimes it's not in the best places or people. But I'm learning and want to be a stronger mother for my son. Thank you so much for this this song.

I listen to the song and it reminds me of the tumultuous relationship. I have with my own son.( When he was growing up, he would listen to Eminem songs religiously.) It's it's heartbreaking, but I know when he's in his right mind, he loves me. And we've been through hell together. You guys can’t give up. I lost my only child, my son, to a drug overdose. I never even had alcohol in my home when he was growing up. Not even now. I don’t drink or do drugs so it doesn’t matter how lost yalls kids are they aren’t until it’s too late. I recommend doing all you can to rebuild your relationships if possible because the world is an absolute nightmare for younger people now. It’s not like it even was 10 years ago. I can tell you it’s a pain that just grows and never goes away. God bless yall and I hope you can change your circumstances.

That's so beautiful and shows that we all come to a point in our lives some of us anywhere come to a point where we realize that even the bad things made us who we are and we have to appreciate even our parents that hurt us the most and come to understand why they were the way they were and still love them even at a distance but we still love them. Eminem is a monster for having so much talent and money and still releasing the super heavy subject matter. He is really something else. Was this released by Eminem, or a remixer? What is this? That's the problem these days. This is a helluva great song. Eminem is such a champion, and I'm older than him, so when he came out, it took me a while to get him.

Forgiveness is the best thing you can do, HOWEVER, saying nobody should hate their parents for an abusive childhood bc it could be generational is assenine. The parents should have learned from there experience that child abuse and neglect is wrong. I had a tough life as a kid but when I had kids I swore I would be the opposite of how I got treated as a kid. Your statement is like saying , oh he doesn't mean to be a child molester but it's not his fault, his parents used to be one. Two wrongs do not make a right and they sure don't justify one's actions

Man, this hits hard, I think ALL parents make mistakes, but there comes a point to where it's no longer a Mistake...it becomes intentional, cold blooded and SO harmful.
