TimeStamps: 00:00 Guru talking about this day. 00:09 Show intro 00:24 Guru freestyle 03:10 Eminem freestyle 04:19 Guru freestyle 05:12 Eminem freestyle 07:01 Guru freestyle 08:52 Eminem freestyle 09:47 Guru freestyle 10:40 Guru freestyle 11:25 Eminem freestyle
You can tell Guru was impressed by Em’s skills. You can tell as a veteran he was going in on him after he kept saying “one more…one more” lol. But Guru was nice on the mic, and Eminem, well he was unique to say the least.. can’t believe I just heard this freestyle 🔥
Eminem gets a lot of flack for talking about his issues over the years but at the time it was rare seeing someone approach it the way he did - he really said things that didn't paint him in a positive light but he embraced that negative side the way only a few others had in hip hop.
First rapper to make fun of himself literally...in 1998 even the most lyrical MCs mainly structured rhymes about destroying other mcs and Eminem had humor unlike Canibus
@Lil Nerf He didn't get smoked wtf are you talking about? I love both of them, but saying Em smoked Guru is just stupid. Their subject matter was completely different.
First off till the last verse em is beating guuru guuru sets it straight in the end.. Guru raps 3 celibits em go's 6 and 8 in every verse em is defently beating guuru here only last verse of guuru is realy hard..
@@lethalassassin1754he got outclassed here crazy bars even guru had to admit before he rapped em is going to be legend because he had been rapping all night blowing his mind open with his wild expressions . Only two other rappers I think of are as descriptive without big words as em
Holy shit, now that's something i have never ever heard before. Dudeee your channel is fucking fireeee. If you can upload Eminem and Elton John's Grammy performance with some good quality, i would appreciate it a lot. You rock buddy 👏👏
I was taping this when it broadcasted I thought shady was the dude from pharcyde that said "in my younger days I use to sport a shag on passin me by" RIP Guru
Yo this is for my late homie Jimmy. Back in the days we used listen to kind of shit and do house party plus pop pill smoke blunts and do mic battles. RIP little homie. Your in an better place. AGB4L
I would’ve loved to hear Cage & CopyWrite & Eminem go back n forth.. especially in this era of Eminem, he was insane then with the rhyme schemes, and concepts.
Yo i still remeber when em first spit this it was so fresh and dope and just being on with guru was legendary and him giving em props was a huge co sign
Also his rhyme schemes extended for 16 bars which wasn't the norm back then, plenty of rappers weren't even using multisyllabic rhymes much let alone an entire verse.
Guru was dropping multis off the top in this freestyle left and right. But I agree Em was raw and just so outlandish but he was nice lol. Something a lot of people don't really understand and why pioneers and legendary MCs respect Em, he's one of the best to ever do it.
@@lethalassassin1754 guru was so good at multis and wouldn't force anything most importantly, easily one of the most natural rhymers. All time great. Em was dope during this time because he really pushed how long you could carry on a rhyme scheme without sounding forced, I will say he eventually went too far during his career trying to do it which led to some questionable material.
@@anatorres-ym8ke I've listened to all of those rappers and would rank them above Eminem overall, but at the time this was released Eminem was more advanced with his rhyme patterns than a lot of rappers. And I also agree he notoriously rapped about other topics on his first album and nobody cared, he started spewing negativity and people ate it up. That all being said, I don't have to rank Eminem ahead of other legends to say he was good during this time period.
‘You must be crazy’ by DJ Rectangle. Ems the first verse and it’s the same as his first verse here. Whole thing is just one rhyme scheme, it’s fucking nuts
I always loved guru hes not even ny but he got the style but as a grown up and he's dead im appreciating him more legend underrated top 5 dead or alive
The furthest I was able to track it is a dj Doo Wop mixtape “A Bronx Tale” on the Fat Joe Big Pun freestyle This seems to be the Origen but if you could trace it back even more or to the original sample let me know

NOT HARD TO BELIEVE FOR ME. THESE CAT'S ARE LYRICISTS! THO I'M NOT A HUGE FAN OF EM, HE GETS DOWN! I JUST DON'T AGREE WTHE BEAT SELECTIONS ON HIS ALBUMS.
