He unfortunately received no praise for this style. Most people wanted the wild Slim Shady whos trying to steal your moms Xans after he decapitates her and uses her head as a hand puppet.
I feel like if he announced he was doing a farewell tour. He should play this song at his final show. Because 24 years ago he had nothing. But now he is infinite.
Na look up AZ he was just coping another dudes flow. I’m glad he changed it up. He would have never been excepted sounding just like another dude. He own sound is what turned him into a star.
@@randywimberly8206nah man. az got that classic New York flow talking like a new Yorker do. Even if you think the flow is the same, the topic is completely different. I rather listen to az than Em. But you gotta realize the difference😮
“You heard of hell, we’ll I was sent from it/ I went to it serving a sentence for murdering instruments/ Now I’m trying to repent from it/ But when I hear the beat I’m tempted to make another attempt at it/ I’m infinite. One of the greatest choruses of all time. A hip hop masterpiece.
i didn't even consider this to be an 'oldschool' beat until u mentioned it (which you're correct). its just u think 'oldschool', u usually think a by-gone era/outdated/etc. but i mean these type of (vinyl-sampled) beats have just made such a huge comeback these days, they basically overshadow their predecessor. swear i just heard this song for the first time _yesterday.._ randomly popped up on pandora & i swear at first i thot i was hearing Mac miller or G eazy or Logic, [or based solely off the beat id say;] A$ap or Joey Badazz or maybe Cudi... *it blew my mind* when i checked to see it said EMINEM -of all rappers Lol. had me thinking is this some new style sh!t hes workin on?...nah. couldnt believe this is what he was humbly puttin out there in '96 right before he blew the fnck up '98. _~& to think he first started rapping in_ *19fncking88...?* crazy. my respect 4 that dude has DOUBLED.
I feel exactly the same way. I listen to this album more than any of his. You never heard so many words rhyme like this, but all make perfect sense. It's fucking magic. Remove a word from the verse, and it wouldn't feel like it does. Absolutely his best work. Sure he has more complex work, but flow, rhymes, it's this song that I fell in love with his music. I am amazed this didn't get bigger than all the rest. Fuck the people who complain about sound quality. It's part of the feeling of the whole album. You can feel his hunger. Pure fucking magic
@Justin Hester His older stuff is so much better tho, I'm not shitting on his new stuff, I still like that, it was just the 00's were when his best songs came out.
Imagine being Eminem when he was writing this. The rawness and hunger is legendary. And then to have it flop. To this day this album is loved and cherished by real Eminem fans. I’ve met more people who don’t know this song then do. But I also don’t know anyone who doesn’t like this song that does know it. One of my favorite songs for sure.
I tried getting my friends to listen to this song back in the day because I was obsessed with the wordplay but they were never really able to appreciate it for what it was, were not friends anymore 😂
Just seen a short talking about this was a flop album and I came back to double check it was talking about the right album, as I remmember this shit being fire.
And maybe some day he will make a song for call of duty, be not afraid, and make some of the fastest verses possibly have the largest vocabulary out of every rapper. Yeah that would be cool
Damn , this song is one of those that send me back to a different time. One of those special songs that take me back in time with a flood of emotions & memories. This album is probably the most underrated at it's time , hell even now. ✌️
[Intro] Aw, yeah (It's like this, like this) It's Eminem, baby Back up in that motherfuckin' ass ('Til forever, 'til forever) One time for your motherfuckin' mind (For MC's, MC's) We represent the 313-you know what I’m sayin'? This is 1000% a hidden gem, I heard it only got 1000 sales upon release but then again it was 1996 before Em blew up, when I heard this I was immediately blown away, one of his best works and he truly is infinite, to this day 2023 he's still making banger songs
The problem with Em’s music back in this era was that it was too good, seriously. The flows are so complex that the average person can’t wrap their head around them. A lot of lines just sound like random words unless you listen closely, he is rapping actual messages in the most complex rhyme schemes imaginable. This song is so genius lyrically/flow wise, when he says “I never packed a tool or acted cool, it wasn’t practical, I’d rather let tactical, tactful track tickle your fancy, in fact I can’t see, or can’t imagine, a man who ain’t a lover of beats or a fan of scratchin” that line shows a truly insane mastery of the English language and how it rhythmically interacts with a beat to make rap. He delivers it in the most complex, atypical way, it’s proof that Em has an extremely unique mind when it comes to processing language. Once in a lifetime wordsmith. He’s a far better wordsmith than he is a musician, and I’m not saying he’s a bad musician, so take that how you will.
Funny cause I've heard people say infinite was just meaningless rhymes. But its definitely not. My only gripe is its kinda in that old school mentality of "my rhymes are the best and nobody is on my level" . Regardless of how good this song was its tainted by all the crappy rappers that cant think of anything to say so they use the theme of being the best. So that's the only reason why this song isn't in my top 5 because a lot of rappers used this theme and its not very creative. Eminem and few others could pull it off proper it was mostly used by rappers who were not elites so they'd just say they were lol.
@@coldhands2802 I think the older jeeps with the inline 6 were neat, but the current cult following is lulzy, especially now that young females have adopted it as the staple of their basic bich setup.
Sometimes I wonder what kind of wonderful music we missed out on because Eminem decided to make up his slim shady persona. I realize that’s what led to his massive popularity, but listening to this, it makes me wish there were more Eminem albums that were free of slim shady’s edginess and immaturity and were just sincere and chill like this
he did make some stuff between, hard to find some of it though. kinda like this, took me years to discover it D: which is fucked because this is next level bars :D
when im gone and mockingbird are classics. he dissects slim shady in "my darling" (honestly worth looking into and thinking about what he's saying in that track long and hard)
Something about this song, just hits different. Overwhelming feeling of nostalgia, the beat always gives me chills.. #Classic. This is when Hip-Hop was at its height of authenticity. #JustHitsDifferent
This shit is hot, he coulda blown up with this. Too bad there wasn't more like this in his albums. Dude is forever a Legend.. from the Bottom to the top..
Fun Fact: This album was released exactly 1 week after 2pac’s Makaveli Don Killuminati album in 96. Which was 2pacs last album recorded while he was alive and Eminem’s debut album.
bro i feel you, the way his stuff in life was all set up in that age day in time is just like you said, nostalgic but also sad in a way, its hard to explain but the people who know, just know, by heart if you will, somehow at least
@@Infinite_CI bought the cassette tape and I was so livid because I wanted to go back to the good old days when things were so easy, simple, fun and not trying to kill or trying to ruin people’s lives
One of the first "Old Eminem" songs I heard years back. I was SHOCKED when I found out he made this before the fame,it was one of my favorite songs then. The vibe on this is unmatched,I am so glad the nostalgia will forever tie me with this track🙏
This is the first album Eminem released independently (before signing to a major label, he was still poor working fast food when he put this out) man, if you’re one of the few that still have an original copy of this I envy you, feel very fortunate. P.S. It probably will become a collector’s item one day too!
Eminem killed this and the 2016 remastered version was fire too. I heard the 2016 rerelease first & thought no damn way this production existed like that in 1996
Is that why this one sounds different than this one here? Is this the original version? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HG8-SMxEXVo.htmlsi=gdWSTQN0YMK0OBRo
you should see about getting out of the house dude. if you have nowhere to go, that just means you can go anywhere you choose. take it from me, a degenerate.
Jesus. Why have I never heard this track? LYRICAL ABILITY. Something today's "rappers" can't touch. The beat software be the only entity with talent these days. Damn I wish we could turn back the hands of time
Man .... This song hits soo hard. Grew up an Eminem fan and never heard this Album until it was on RU-vid haha. Dude is eternal greatness in the industry 💯
seriously though, raw beats like this one and the one from survival of the fittest beat nearly everything in use today. it's just so balanced and perfect for a lyricist to go nuts on
@@SkemeKOS and Dre has said that Eminem would've been succsessful even without his help because he is talented. He would have hit it big anyways. Somehow.
@@kaage8780 yeap facts , Ofcourse eminem wont say he could make it by himself , We all know eminem is humble and thankful and he never say anything would hit dre . because he white he wont taken seriously 🙂 bro people not that bad then
Currently i play this song on repeat everyday since i found it "Infinite". One song I can play all day. I can have a productive day coding without any disturbing vibes. Just me aiming to my dreams.
… My songs can make you cry, take you by surprise at the same time Can make you dry your eyes with the same rhyme See what you're seein' is a genius at work, which to me isn't work So it's easy to misinterpret it at first 'Cause when I speak, it's tongue-in-cheek I'd yank my fuckin' teeth before I'd ever bite my tongue I'd slice my gums, get struck by fuckin' lightning twice at once And die and come back as Vanilla Ice's son And walk around the rest of my life spit on And kicked and hit with shit every time I sung Like R. Kelly as soon as "Bump and Grind" comes on More pain inside of my brain than the eyes of a little girl Inside of a plane aimed at the World Trade, standin' on Ronnie's grave Screamin' at the sky, 'til clouds gather, it's Clyde Mathers and Bonnie Jade And that's pretty much the gist of it Parents are pissed, but the kids love it Nine millimeter heater stashed in two-seaters with meat cleavers I don't blame you, I wouldn't let Hailie listen to me neither
@@dylanbruhhh4208Definitely is beat selection wise. No beat is better than this, only Tonite arguably. He hasn't choosen a beat as good as infinite ever again
Infinite is lowkey the best album Em published, a timeless classic 💙 The beats, flow, delivery and lyrics are unmatachable to any other album Slim Shady put out.
Well the only problem I see about is that the lyrics don't mean anything past self promotion. His next album Slim Shady LP was a bit more conscious at least. Yes the rhymes are good but there is no insight or story. Its all just I AM THE BEST, especially this song. It's not his best album in my opinion.
When you put in that perspective I feel dammed old. He's 12 years older than me, I was about 9 or 10 when my Dad was playing this album on tape. I used a double cassette player to sample parts of the and make mashups of his album. Good old days man.
This song has so much lyricism its insane. Listening to every word and bar, he makes every syllable fit the beat so well and its all very well structured wordplay
I ignored this album for years because I figured that anything pre-SSLP was merely a mediocre stepping stone to his eventual greatness. The first time I heard this song was when I decided to put it on at work, and it absolutely blew my mind; I had to stop what I was doing and sit down to take it all in. Yeah, it might not be anything unique in theme, but the lyrics, the flow, the beat, and especially the chorus just carry me back to the mid-90s. This is definitely one of my favourite songs he's ever done.
You can hear the genius in the hook, already. And how he relates sinning to him killing the beat through out and all that. He was never a spacey thinker. Even this young all his shit creatively connected. The rhyming you can tell he’s Well above the average Iq already. It was just about creating his own style after this album, and boy did he!
When the day comes and em ain’t here no more..I’m playing this and BLASTING it to remind EVERYONE how much of a true Emcee Em was and throw it in the faces of all of his current era haters. Em will always be the rap god, and this one is one of those that proves it.
1996, teenager with a classic. This for me is a top 3 track of his whole career. because this was the start of the legacy of a "nobody"from the backstreet of detroit. #respect
Is this technically eminems first album song ever? If so this shit needs to be put in the h.o.f and archived in Fort Knox...never let the world ever forget Eminem
When recording an Album, you can do a number of tracks first etc...It all comes to song listing, you and your creative team come together to select which song comes first, second to last...It depends on what you wanna do with the album...you can even find that this was the last song he recorded but the producer or engineer thought it's worth being the opening song to the project. Plus he probably had many tracks recorded for this but decided to select these particular songs as they best reflect the album's themes
The multisyllables on god level, the lyricism, the word play, the rhythm, the crisp pronunciation, the fact that he tightly packed each rhyme with another, the boombap type beat, this was a masterpiece. His most artistic and Hip-hop song of all time. Shame that he isn’t acknowledging this style anymore. Nonetheless, once a classic, always a classic.
The 95-98 "Infinite era" battle rap , black haired Eminem with the latin style buzz cut is a whole completely different monster!!!! That always rocked a black hoody & black snapback cap💯 Em was a real "Blackforce1" in those days oml he was poor asf, at rock bottom robbing houses & battling on stage & hungry asf & savage asf on the 🎤 even back then 💯
