My favorite artists are 2Pac, OutKast, Busta and a couple others from my generation (I'm 43 😆) I quit listening to the radio probably about six or seven years ago. I noticed that not only did the radio not play music of any substance, artists seemed to put out music that lacked as well. Fire beats but sucky lyrics.... And music with social consciousness - well good luck finding that anywhere. I used to say today's music wasn't any good but RU-vid had put me on to some decent, current lyricists that make me smile. I think the difference between us older cats and these younger cats is an appreciation of the history and progression of hip hop and the dedication those considered a G.O.A.T. put into their craft. It wasn't just about how much they could make (or not only) but how could the better their craft. Not sure I make much sense....
