@@wsheaffer How is Melly using EM's color to discredit him? Em said that if he was Black he'd only sell half. Meaning that his white fans wouldn't support him. Does that speak to him or his fans? Therefore, being white has its advantages for him. Yet in this response, Em said that his color is working against him. Can't have it both ways.
@@BIGGRIFF72 There's a difference between record sales and top 50 rappers. Mel was dismissing Em's ability and saying he's only there because he's white.
@@wsheaffer No, he said that he has the ability. He said that he has a style. He said that his style is not original or strictly his. Listen with an unbiased ear.
He's saying that because the machine is behind him and society looks at talented white artist and athletes different in Black spaces is why he propelled. Em said it himself. It is what it is.
When Hip-Hop's past dislikes it's present it says alot about the true state of Hip-Hop. African-American influence on white rappers is intact and not infringed upon in any way. It's not fair to discriminate against artists over biased perspective. Mel is a pioneer but not solely the originator of Hip-Hop at all. Discrediting Eminem is disrespectful to Hip-Hop in lew of his contributions and legacy with Dr. Dre. Mel seems bitter over Eminem's acclaim, but he'll have to build a bridge 🌉 and get over it. Eminem did utilize Hip-Hop to liberate other African-American artists, so Mel needs to let the racial thing go 💯
I hope they can settle their differences at the end because I think it was all a misunderstanding it’s sad to see my two favourite rappers of all time going at eachother
I see the opposite, hiphop is no longer a pick a side and kill the other artists career,so hopefully it will be 2 elite rappers going in on each other and really going at it I’m hoping they both go for the throat on some old school beats and it drags old school hiphop back to the fore front
I didn't see a misunderstanding - I saw flat-out disrespect on multiple occasions. Eminem isn't everyone's favorite rapper, and maybe he isn't #1 all-time (depending who you ask), but to not acknowledge the impact on the genre and culture, in addition to skillset, is just plain ignorance. Even when you acknowledge the impact his skin color had on his sales, that has nothing to do with his skillset, as they're there regardless. He doesn't have to be a fan, or even have him Top 5, but it's ludicrous for him to ignore skills & impact.
melle mel is one of the most important pioneers of hip-hop. but there has to be a reason why he didn't release much in 40 years. i liked 'on the strength' but it was left behind by groups like ultramagnetic, PE, eric B & rakim. you'd think with his rep he could go to anyone and be like, 'yo it's melle mel. wanna do something with me' and have little problem making it happen, and getting music press to pay attention. i don't know what the reason is. but i can only speculate that it must either that he had a bad attitude that noone wanted to work with him. or he just isn't delivering a high enough quality any more. either way, it's sad to see
Didn't Em contradict himself? On one hand, he said that if he were Black he'd only sell half. Then in this response, be says that his skin color is working against him. Also when Lord Jamar said that he was a guest in the house of Hip Hop, Em's fans went nuts. But yet Em came back to admit that he was indeed a guest. But the issue was his blatant disrespect for the culture to claim that he turned the house into a mansion. That's crazy to think that he has propelled the African American Culture to it's apex.
@loveafrica9253 Bubba Sparx, Marky mark, Dude from 3rd bass. They all enjoy success talent or no talent. Even weird al. Went platinum and gold with comical novelty rap. Jay z, Nas , Pac and Big all have 'nay sayers' a plenty. So what makes Eminem sacred?
