When Em does die, When I'm Gone is gonna mess ppl up Brain Damage has always been kinda sad to me. He's saying everyone that should've protected him, Didn't.

Just as a note, from Brain Damage, parts of the song were based on Em's actual life. The kid he names put him into a coma and his mom sued the school over it. After the song was released, the kid sued Em over the song. The judge threw out the case in the MOST EPIC fashion by rapping the verdict.

Love always goes both ways and I think as a kid, if you have good parents, you love them just like your parents love you. I relate to "When I'm gone" 💯 brother I went through a divorce because of a lot of being gone on work in the oilfield an not being able to be with my wife and two kids (twins one boy one girl) and ended up abusing prescription pain meds, xanax and more and basically ruined my life! But thanks to my ex wife and kids still wanting to be apart of my life I have now been clean and sober for 3 years and I done it on my own didnt believe in the 12 step bs or recovery stuff just had the support of my ex wife, my babies and family and beat my addiction and prescribed med abuse. I was prescribed the medications for real problems though have a broke back from oilfield work, depression ect... but I beat my abuse after losing my kids and wife do to them still wanting to be a part of my life and things are good now still have bad depression do to losing them and not having my wife (high school sweetheart) of 10 years and my two kids it still crushes me daily but I don't back down I fight every day for them and will always love my ex just like I did from day one even though shes getting married again soon. I was really addicted to pills. Used to embarrass me to death, but I found my open door out of that place and I ran out of it, and now that I am sober and looking in from the outside, I can't help but talk about it and be happy. I was raised in a good family, and I became the poster boy in my town for the fact you can fall off, and it is okay, and it doesn't mean you're a horrible person. I also went to rehab 4 times, and when I finally came off everything I just sat at home, still went to work, and still made it through! If you are struggling, there is hope!
