Enter the dragon because today we are joined by House of The Dragon stars Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke.
If you are not familiar with the show, it’s the prequel series to Game of Thrones and it slays in many ways. There’s murder, there’s backstabbing and a whole lot of hot people getting up to hot things, and you don’t even have to have watched Game of Thrones to be obsessed with it.
At the centre of it all is Princess Rhaenyra played by Emma D’Arcy and her childhood best friend, Allicent Hightower, played by Olivia Cooke who destroy their friendship in the quest for power. If you thought you had had a tough friendship break up, yours has got nothing on this.
You might have also seen Olivia in the movies The Sound of Metal, Me Earl and The Girl, Ready Player One and Apple TV’s Slow Horses. And whilst this is Emma’s breakout role, they were nominated for a Golden Globe for their scene stealing performance.
House of the Dragon is back for season two - which is available on Sky and streaming service NOW, and today I chat to Emma and Olivia about the moments on the show that had them clutching their pearls, getting smacked in the face on a film set, and how they are finding their power in their roles.
Emma also talks about the relief at being able to live their life openly as a non-binary person, Olivia tells us how she still struggles to take up space, and they share a really cute insight into their friendship off screen.
Hands up if you want to be the third wheel in this friendship? If you love this episode please get in touch too if you love the episode, I always love hearing from you! You can find me across socials @joshsmithhosts Love, Josh xx
