Called Advocating for your patient... you have to do it to get what you need sometimes. You can always ask for 2nd or 3rd opinions even in the ER. Don't settle if you don't get the answers needed.

I hope emma gets better, truly its exhausting being told over and over again there’s nothing exactly wrong even though you feel horrible. A lot of the time doctors in the ER have no idea what they’re doing or miss things so it’s better to go to specialist. I’ve had heart issues as a healthy 17 year old for about 2 years now i’ve been tested countless times and been to a cardiologist yet they say nothing is wrong with me. It’s incredibly frustrating but don’t lose hope in getting her a diagnosis

My friend's brother had similar symptoms as Emma. They were thinking he had meningitis, but it ended up being a tick bite. Emma is in my prayers.

I had almost all of the same symptoms. I ended up having a thyroid problem and graves disease. My body was attacking my immune system. I would definitely take her to a thyroid specialist!

Her neck could just be her lymph nodes from Infection. Mine did that when I kept getting sick because my body just couldn’t keep up with all the sicknesses I kept getting. It can also cause a lot of pain

Heather look up the early stages of meningitis. "Early symptoms can be similar to the flu. However, having a stiff neck in addition to flu-like symptoms could be a key clue that meningitis is the problem and should be checked by a doctor. Patients should seek immediate medical attention if a stiff neck is accompanied by a fever, headache and/or nausea."

Coming form a chronically Ill person unfortunately you have to push and advocate for yourself. A lot of doctors don’t care. I am so sorry you’re going through this. Emma and you all are in my thoughts. Keep pushing for answers

The medical field has gone down. I’ve been in similar situations and it’s like they don’t take it serious bc we’re “ young “, unless your coming in with something cut open and or a disease it’s like they dont care to jump on it and do something like you think they SHOULD bc of the fact we’re young adults you would want to catch something as soon as possible!! Ugh definitely frustrating. And I can only imagine what’s going thru your heads, keep positive❤️ Emma’s in our prayers and she will be okay!!

She looked like she wouldn’t have been able to walk with the way her feet looked so I don’t know how much I believe from that doctor. Definitely seems like something different than a virus to cause her feet and hands to change color and swell like that

I feel so bad for Emma!! About 8yrs back I had the same thing going on and the drs kept telling me the same thing they were telling u but we knew something wasn’t right I didn’t feel right and low and behold I had an autoimmune disease that was causing everything I really pray Emma gets better and doesn’t have an autoimmune issue because it is no fun and I would NEVER want to see anyone deal with it

I’m so sorry Emma is feeling so bad. It’s really crappy when you get a doctor who is so rude. It is strange how her legs are two different colors. Hopefully it is just the virus. Please tell Emma we hope she feels better soon and thank her for sharing the ups and downs in life. Hugs to you all.

It might be a long shot, but have you thought about checking Emma’s room for mold? I know it seems bizarre since nobody else is getting sick in the house. But I know my room had mold in it in middle school and I was in and out of the hospital for months. Just a thought. I hope she gets better! 💓

I know it sounds a little crazy but have them check for tick bites. I had a nephew that guy really sick from it. And I had a coworker that couldn't get to getting better after months and it was a tick bite

This happened to me when I was 19. I was sick off and on for 6 months. I ended up getting diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I would suggest getting her thyroid levels checked!! ❤

Heather look up Lymphoma, its the most common cancer in young adults and some of the main symptoms are a hump on the neck, and raised white blood cells!

Have them check her thyroid! I had the same neck issues and feeling sick and my thyroid levels were too high. Now I’m on medication and feel so much better. Praying for her!🫶🏻❤️❤️

I am 28 and at 25 I got a brain tumor removed but doctors will literally do nothing until its serious. They did so many tests on me and I fought for an mri. Why am I getting every test but an mri if I am so dizzy and losing balance???? Praying for Emma!!!

Hope Emma gets better soon!! If this keeps happening I would definitely try to rule out lymphoma, it can be missed on Ct and has a high white bc and many of the symptoms she is having. ENT can diagnose. I think the lump on her neck may be a lymph node. Definitely need to be your own advocate these days, a lot of uncaring and overworked doctors out there. Love and prayers to you all!

This is alarming af!!! With the fact that Emma is hurting in the right side and then her right foot is damn near purple! And her hand as well! It’s as if her blood flow is being blocked somewhere! The doctors seem to be playing it off like it’s no big deal! And mama bear mode has no choice but to come out when one of your kids are I’ll so she will get over the embarrassment I promise my kids do the same th7ng and are like “MOM stooooop”

My husband never had the stiff neck and was sent home from the ER. Our pcp called to see how he was and he was so so sick but they still did nothing. Pcp said go to another er now and tell them to do a spinal tap. They didn’t think they needed to, but did anyway, and poof, it was meningitis. He was admitted.

We took our daughter to the ER on Monday. Same symptoms as Emma. CT scan showed nothing. They knew she was in pain bc of the high BP. She was given the same meds as your Emma. Left with them saying possibly a UTI (she has none of those symptoms) so far today is Thursday her pain level is around a 4 but who knows what is going on.

I had this for months and months and I was diagnosed with CRPS on my right side! (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) VERY RARE but it’s on onside of the body This instantly made me think of it!

Your being a loving, caring mum not embarrassing. I got a severe migraine then paralysed on my right side and admitted for 7 days. In 2016 I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE bcoz it attacks the whole body every week something would happen then 2017 Fibromyalgia. I hope Emma gets well soon

have them check for lymphoma!! i had most of these symptoms and it turned out to be hodgkins!! doctors couldn’t diagnose me for a whole year until my mom decided to take me to an adult oncologist. i pray that is not what it is

not to worry you guys but just to inform you!! ⚠️ ⚠️⚠️I know someone who recently passed away from bacteria meningitis. She had symptoms of sickness before ending up in a coma and passing away. It’s very scary but if there’s anyway i could help in this situation. I know i’m not a doctor but it does present itself in different ways. prayers to emma. praying for a heather healing and a healthy rest of 2023 💓💓💓Heather you are doing an amazing job. being such a supportive mom and sticking up for her.
