Update: It's now been over a year since I got the Emma Original mattress. We're still sleeping on it every night, so it's lasted much longer than my previous mattress. I don't have much to add to my six week review, other than the fact that it's still going strong. I have tested two different cooling/heating mattress pads on it though, which I've covered in other reviews, and they both worked well on the Emma mattress. I think the slightly firmer surface of the Emma is a good base for a mattress topper or pad, as it holds the extra weight nicely. My partner recently suggested that my side is starting to show signs of a shallow dip from my body weight. While I think she's right, it's only a very slight dip in the middle of my side and not an issue for me personally as I haven't noticed any change to the comfort or support. It's also something I've experienced with other mattresses in the past, so hardly surprising. Neither of us is particularly heavy, so I imagine it will hold strong for a long time to come if we keep using it (I'm 85kg / 187 lbs). But it's something to bear in mind if you're a heavier person and concerned about the longevity of your mattress.
Very professional and well laid out review of the mattress. Thanks for the content, I find sleep apparatuses to be very fascinating. Always struggled with sleep so in that constant search.
I've seen online the memory foam is very bad for intimacy reasons with your partner is this something I should be concerned about because of the sinking as we want best use for intimacy
Memory foam does have a bit of a reputation for that 'sinking' feeling, especially if it is thick and soft, low density memory foam. I can tell you the Emma is fine though (from personal experience...)
@@nosleeplessnights1 You mentioned in the video that people who sleep on their side might find the matress firm. That’s how I always sleep so I really need comfort when sleeping that way, otherwise I get cramps on my arm unfortunately. You saved me from buying something that wouldn’t suit me, thank you very much!!
You're welcome, and thanks for letting me know the specific bit that was most relevant for you. It's always interesting to hear which part of a review was most important for viewers. I'm still using the Emma mattress and like it a lot, even though it is slightly firmer than I'm used to. Even though I quite like to sleep on my side, I'm also fine on my back and front, so I'm lucky in that respect. If you need a very soft surface for side sleeping, I can understand the decision to pass on this one. I would too if I was unable to sleep well on my back or front and got cramps on my side with firmer mattresses! I hope you find the perfect mattress for your needs soon:-)
