Don't miss a moment of the US Open! Subscribe now: bit.ly/2Pdr81i
The 2021 US Open main draw runs from August 30 - September 12 in New York City at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The tournament takes place for the 141st time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Dominic Thiem is the men’s singles defending champion but has withdrawn following an injury. Naomi Osaka is the women’s singles defending champion and will be aiming to claim the title for the third time in four years. Meanwhile, No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic looks to complete the calendar Grand Slam after winning the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon already this year. Should the Serbian lift the title here for the fifth time, he will also overtake Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to become the first-ever man to win 21 Grand Slam singles titles. With full capacity crowds back again, it’s time for the greatest return!

I've been following tennis avidly for 30 years and can't recall anything like this, an explosion like this. For someone with so little tour experience, Emma plays like a top-5. Her court coverage, shot-making and mental toughness were those of a much older player with a few slams in the cabinet. She is a promoter's dream: beautiful, articulate and girl-next-door nice. Tennis is a hard sport and the Tennis life can be a hard grind. Don't knock others until you've walked in their shoes. Most of your post is untrue anyway. Tennis players come from all walks of life. @@Interstellar2123 Yes, you‘re right - that bothered me too, because Emma was FORCED to take the medical break by the umpire, as blood was running down her leg. However, after the game resumed, Leylah went ahead on an advantage point but she still lost it, so there are absolutely no excuses : Emma beat her fairly and squarely ! 👍🎾

@@Interstellar2123 I am British and supported Emma. However, I think Laylah Fernandez was genuinely confused - she believed medical time outs only happened at either the end of a game or at the change over. And that *is* normally the case. However, when there is bleeding/blood, they have to stop. I think even Emma looked a bit confused at first as *she* didn't ask for the medical time out. I am prepared to give Laylah the benefit of the doubt as she (they are both) is inexperienced and never been in that situation. There was no racket smashing, no yelling, no ball hitting at anyone. It was an immensely stressful point in the match for both. Emma beat her fairly and Laylah said that afterwards. So, again, I give her the benefit of the doubt.

I love the way she smiles. She has the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. Great ambassador for tennis.

Now, she is what you call a proper role model. A breath of fresh air.
