unicornsallies Be prepared... it doesnt end happily... but the animation is BEAUTIFUL...Also watch the movie "Your name" if you need an uplifting from "5cm per second"
Jocone, I just saw the movie earlier this afternoon (now almost midnight Sun. Mar. 5). Emma was terrific! She makes you look at her in every scene she is in. She just keeps getting better and more experienced and growing as an actress, a comedian, and now a dancer and singer. Only 28, she should be a leading actress for the next 40 years, if she stays in the biz that long.
1:50 - 2:12 I remember being in the theater watching this part of the song, seeing her delivery and expressions and poise in her singing. And I thought "this would be the perfect clip to show at the oscars". Because god damn it, Stone deserves to be nominated for lead actress. I thought Birdman was her best but oh no.. this is her best work to date.
Mitchell Murray This scene alone earned her the Oscar in my opinion. I was absolutely floored by her inflections in the singing, the rawness in her voice, and her heartwrenching expressions. Such a powerful scene. Amazed this song wasn't nominated for Best Song honestly.
this scene had me bawling in the theatre. Thank you Damien Chazelle and Emma. This film was truly a masterpiece and spoke to me at a time in my life where i felt lost as a struggling "Dreamer" trying to break through and make those dreams a reality. You have given me a second wind and I will always appreciate you for that
Keep working hard and it will become a reality. Trying to be an aerospace engineer to maybe invent warp drive but takes a long road keep going down it.
Here are the actual lyrics, since Devonne Arnaz has no clue what she's writing. (spoken) My aunt used to live in Paris. I remember she used to come home, and she would tell us stories about being abroad. And I remember she told us that she jumped into the river once. Barefoot. She smiled. (sung) Leapt without looking And tumbled into the Seine The water was freezing She spent a month sneezing But said she would do it again Here's to the ones who dream Foolish as they may seem Here's to the hearts that ache Here's to the mess we make She captured a feeling Sky with no ceiling The sunset inside a frame She lived in her liquor And died with a flicker I'll always remember the flame Here's to the ones who dream Foolish as they may seem Here's to the hearts that ache Here's to the mess we make She told me A bit of madness is key To give us new colors to see Who knows where it will lead us And that's why they need us So bring on the rebels The ripples from pebbles The painters and poets and plays And here's to the fools who dream Crazy as they may seem Here's to the hearts that break Here's to the mess we make I trace it all back to then Her and the snow and the Seine Smiling through it She said she'd do it again
Clearly, she didn't get permission to upload the song from the owners. This is technically in violation of YT's licensing terms, but the publishers haven't reported it yet. The full album is available to legally stream on Spotify and download from iTunes. It's another example of someone pirating music for personal gain, in this case, channel and video views. I have close friends who worked on this film, and it's unfair to the work they put into it to have it pirated.
I didn't leave the cinema feeling sad about the regrets I have, I walked out of this movie feeling like I could do anything. It really put me into perspective of how in control of my life I am. Here's to the ones who dream!
Did you guys know this was performed live? Makes the scene even more powerful for me. Emma Stone deserves the Oscar for this scene alone. Truly a masterpiece.
Totally agree. It was her idea to do that scene live and it was brilliant. The camera work and lighting were perfect too. Great, great film. Love it, seen it more than 3 times......
I have never had tears streaming down my face in a theater like this song made me do. I went to see this with my mom and she held my hand and we just cried at this part. This is just so heart breaking and inspiring at the same time.
It's the expression on her face from the moment the producers spoke to her outlining the role she knew she had her break, finally, and searching for the story to get the role and then delivering it! You can see her confidence grow as the song progresses and then as she utters the last word "again" she looks astoundingly vulnerable, so brilliantly delivered. I want this song to be played when I go!
My aunt used to live in Paris I remember, she used to come home and tell us these stories about being abroad and I remember she told us that she jumped into the river once, barefoot She smiled Leapt, without looking And tumbled into the Seine The water was freezing She spent a month sneezing But said she would do it again Here's to the ones who dream Foolish as they may seem Here's to the hearts that ache Here's to the mess we make She captured a feeling Sky with no ceiling The sunset inside a frame She lived in her liquor And died with a flicker I'll always remember the flame Here's to the ones who dream Foolish as they may seem Here's to the hearts that ache Here's to the mess we make She told me "A bit of madness is key To give us new colors to see Who knows where it will lead us? And that's why they need us" So bring on the rebels The ripples from pebbles The painters, and poets, and plays And here's to the fools who dream Crazy as they may seem Here's to the hearts that break Here's to the mess we make I trace it all back to then Her, and the snow, and the Seine Smiling through it She said she'd do it again
Emma's performance here brought me to tears. People say the ending made them cry, but this moment was so powerful. The looks on her face, the emotion in her voice, the camera circling her. This scene is phenomenal.
THE FOOLS WHO DREAM My aunt use to live in Paris I remember she use to come home and she would tell us these stories about being abroad and I remember she told us that she jumped into the river Once Barefoot She smiled Leapt, without looking and tumbled into the Seine The water was freezing She spent a month sneezing but said she would do it again Here's to the ones who dream foolish, as they may seem Here's to the hearts that ache Here's to the mess we make She captured a feeling sky with no ceiling the sunset inside a frame She lived in her liquor and died with a flicker I'll always remember the flame Here's to the ones who dream foolish, as they may seem Here's to the hearts that ache Here's to the mess we make She told me ~ A bit of madness is key to give us new colors to see Who knows where it will lead us and that's why they need us So bring on the rebels the ripples from pebbles, the painters, and poets, and plays And here's to the fools who dream crazy as they may seem Here's to the hearts that break Here's to the mess we make I trace it all back, to then Her, and the snow, and the Seine Smiling through it She said She'd do it, again
7 years ago I came to LA with a bachelors in film/tv and not much else. I struggled for quite awhile...interned here and there...took just about any odd job I could...even moved back home to NJ for a year before I realized I was unhappy anywhere else. I came back to LA, and now I'm writing for Riverdale, a really wonderful new TV show on the CW that has been renewed for a second season. The point of my post is La La Land is not a fairytale -- there are thousands of brilliant men and women here to prove as much. It takes a lot of determination and effort to succeed here, but dreams DO come true if you want it bad enough..
This may sound very sappy or cheesy but personally this movie might have changed my life. Before going into this movie I always wanted to be a director. but I always thought that's never going to happen. But this movie made want to be a director and fallow my dreams even more especially this song. I cried so much and I'm a 15 year old boy
"She told me it was a girl, and so I turned my head away and wept. 'All right,' I said, 'I'm glad it's a girl. And I hope she'll be a fool-that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool." Quote from Daisy Buchanan. This song reminds me of her.
I'm one of those fools who dream and this song means so much to me. I (almost) cry everytime I hear it because it's simply incredible great, I literally spent the whole movie either crying or laughing
Natalie Portman from Jackie though.. of course Emma Stone was phenomenal was in the scene but I personally think that Natalie Portman played a more complex role. I think I'll be fine with either of them winning.
As a artist myself this song was the thing that made be cry in the theater. It's pretty touching and moving. I've never felt such powerful feelings of passion, sadness, happiness, and just utter heartbreak that sometimes what you love doing is not or might not ever be understood or appreciated. The world needs artists from music, to writing, to dance and visual; people forget that.
I remember the line that made me giggle at the cinema was "the water was freezing; she spent a month sneezing but said she would do it again" and as I kept listening to this song I started to realise that this song would be one of my favourites
Me before seeing La la land: "Do you want fries with that" "Yes" Me after seeing la la land: "Do you want fries with that" "my aunt used to live in paris..."
This song deserves an Oscar way more than City of Stars. No other songs in the movie could capture the spirit of La La Land better than it does. It also the only song in the movie that brought me to tears with its powerful message.
Leapt, without looking And tumbled into the seine The water was freezing She spent a month sneezing But said she would do it again Here's to the ones who dream Foolish as they may seem Here's to the hearts that ache Here's to the mess we make She captured a feeling Sky with no ceiling The sunset inside a frame She lived in her liquor And died with a flicker I always remember the flame Here's to the ones who dream Foolish as they may seem Here's to the hearts that ache Here's to the mess we make She told me A bit of madness is key To give us new colors to see Who knows where it will lead us And that's why they need us So bring on the rebels, the ripples from pebbles The painters and poets and plays And here's to the fools who dream Crazy as they may seem Here's to the hearts that break Here's to the mess we make I trace it all back to that Her and the snow and the seine Smiling through it She said, she'd do it Again
I saw La La Land on December 27, a few hours after the world learned that Carrie Fisher had passed away. I felt heartbroken all day until I saw this film, and when Mia described her aunt and sang this song I couldn't help but think of Carrie as Mia's late aunt. What a terrible, inspiring, sentimental, gut-wrenching day.
Sure, Devonne has some spelling errors. Where would any of us be without spell check? I want to give a big thank you to Devonne for posting this. I just saw the movie and needed to hear that song again, and again, and again.
There's a difference between spelling errors and just entirely the wrong word. Girls = ripples? Puppets = poets? The correct lyrics are available with a quick Google search. This is super low effort and bad.
Why watch it then? This video is an expression of Devonne's love for this song. That's all. You have a problem with that - move on. People like you criticise others to feel superior and then passively expect someone else to make the right video. Do it yourself, larda$$.
+Vinnie Moran Most people watched this video because it was the top result or they had the reasonable expectation that there would be at most one or two errors. It's like going to a blog about using proper grammar and seeing awful grammar throughout.
My roommate and I went to see the movie a bit before Christmas. As soon as the first musical dance number started, just a few moments into the film, I leaned over and whispered to him, "This is gonna be great!" I could tell that quickly, and it WAS great. I went to see it again a few days later when my daughter came to visit, and loved it just as much. I gotta buy the sound track next.
Cada musical tiene su canción inolvidable, esta es la de La La Land. La emoción de toda la película se concentra en este momento. Emma la hizo inolvidable.
I do not like musicals. Never have. I LOVED this movie. Such a fantastic story told with such grace and beauty in every sense. Movies like this are all too rare.
I am having the same feeling with what included in this song. I'm made fun of cuz my dreams are not like theirs. They think I am a crazy girl and a big mess to them. No one believes in me apart from myself... I always remind myself to be strong and get rid of things they say about me to make my dreams come true. And oneday tell them that I was right. But no matter how strong I try to be, I can't help myself from feeling lonely sometimes...
I just saw this film. I'm not a fan of musicals, but I absolutely loved this film from beginning to end. I can't express how much I connected to this film emotionally. To all of the dreamers out there, this one's for you.
This is the best movie I have seen in a long time, I absolutely love the songs and listen to it every chance I get. Ive seen it 2 times and plan on buying it when it comes out.
I saw this movie yesterday and it's amazing to see how a story so simple can be so heartbreaking. It was about time Hollywood brought back films like this. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling were the perfect duo for it.
There's so many words messed up on this, that it's difficult to watch this. Instead of enjoying the song, I find myself wondering how someone's brain could've heard these words.
Held back the tears when I listened to this song. Totally reassessing my life after this movie. Justin Hurwitz, Damien Chazelle 👏 Emma Stone & Ryan Gosling 💜
