I'm 36 now, but I remember literally being told the day before I'm 30 that I'm still young, and as soon as I turned 30 everybody was saying I was getting old. A day apart.

I turned 35 a week ago. Many aspects of my life are “not in order.” I’m single, do not own the place where I live, and I am dissatisfied in my career and income. However, I live in a beautiful place, and I have many wonderful relationships. I spend time in nature and breathe a lot of fresh air. On the weekends, I get out into the mountains or to islands. So there are highs and lows. This is how life is. A mix.

When I was 27 I started to tell everyone that I'm 30. And that helped me a lot to cope with the moment when I actually turned 30.

37 and still don't have any of that. Single, no kids, a "no skill" warehouse job. Studio apartment for just me and my cat. Some days I feel like a failure, others I feel like I got time. But at the end, I never feel like a part of life is missing, I'm content with what my life is.

Getting anxiety over other people’s opinions is legit the worst thing you can ever do to yourself live your life the way you want to live it don’t worry about if the things you want to happen don’t happen at the time you want it to happen.

i am over 40 and dont have these things because i have other goals in mind. Having a family or a house has never appealed to me. Could not care less about what i am "supposed" to have and be. Its your own decision if you let yourself be put under pressure by whats around you.

Exactly how I felt, geez. Literally my entire 20's I thought age meant nothing regarding your life path. Still do in an realist sense, but the societal pressure is IMMENSE and it hits you like a truck as your 29th birthday is now 5 months past.

Yep, that’s life. Deep down we know to get busy living or get busy dying. But we lie to ourselves and repress our urgency in our 20s. Once you hit 30, you start to acknowledge it.

Honestly though, if you don't have your life path figured out by 30... what the heck have you been doing this whole time? I felt great turning 30, because I had spent my 20s building a life, and a career, and felt satisfied with the life I had created for myself. I'm approaching 40 now -- still going strong. Only thing I can say is I can't play sports like I used to be able to, even in my early 30s, but that's how it goes. Getting into a season now where the kids are old enough that I can enjoy coaching and watching them. If you want a satisfying life, you have to work for it. Anyone who says differently is coping.

I am 41,no baby, no home and single since recently. Sometimes I do feel like a failure but then I think maybe 40's will be my best years since I have never felt more like myself and never loved myself more plus at this age, my boundaries are very strong 😊

That hilarious been stressed because your turning thirty, that's nothing! wait till you get to your sixties and your body starts to break down, then you have a legitimate reason to be stress, instead of getting stressed over some intrusive thoughts. Be yourself and enjoy your life one day at a time. Stop living in the future and ignore the fears that accompany them. like i said, enjoy your life you only have one. And don't get married till you meet the man of your dreams. Don't settle for you anyone either. Seek your creator instead of living for self than you feel fulfilled when you deny your fleshly desire and pour yourself into helping others it's the most fulfilling way of life there is. I say that because self is never satisfied it's always wanting more thinking if you have more of this or that you'll be happy no that's just a lie. When you put your creator first its only then can you discern what your called to be on this earth it will be that clear to you. Jesus loves Emma he loves you with an everlasting love.

As someone in his 50’s it’s so bizarre hearing people stress about 30’s. Those are some of the best years to be had really.

Sometimes you should be alarmed at your situation, sometimes you should re-evaluate what you are doing.

Emma is right in what she says. I am a little younger than her and as someone who is in her 20s and in college I can say that many men and women, more than afraid of age, are afraid of feeling unfulfilled or that they do not meet certain standards. Especially nowadays when people compare themselves a lot with other people, it is important to understand that to feel fulfilled or happy there is not only one path and that you are you, and that it is not necessary to compare your life with that of others. We can always improve some aspect of our life and learn to appreciate each stage of our life.

we can make certain targets for certain age but if life does not go way, we planned, it can take time and thats okay, i guess 😊

To a lot of women, 30s is actually a happier place than teens and 20s. You have an education, you earn better, you are independent, you stopped worrying about your appearance and what others think about you. You are no longer naive and have developed worldy wisdom. The only trouble is the useless advice and unwanted judgement coming your way.

We all have this pressure. I’m certainly no famous actor, but merely a lowly land surveyor, and every day is loaded with doubt, anxiety, and a sense of hopelessness. Life can be pretty discouraging when you work hard and seem to get nowhere.

The clocks ticking and it never stops

There’s something wrong with the world, if a professional actor, that’s worth like 100 million, has even university degree under her belt, STILL feels like she hadn’t “accomplished” what she was supposed to at 30. The way society pressures women is insane. Honestly. Think about it objectively.

When I got 30 I was living in a shared Apartment and loving it. Now I am 34 and moved together with my bf and it is such a fun. To me it got more important to find someone I can laugh and dance with than someone who makes my plans of life work. Try to live the life u want instead of the voices in your head want you to.

As a 29 year old I can understand the pressure. Personally, I don’t own a home but am in a stable relationship (no marriage) and have cofounded two companies. I believe that as long as you are actively developing as a person and are finding ways to adapt to your current situation at 30, you’re doing a pretty decent job. Everyone has their own journey in life

My wife had our daughter when she was 29. It was one of the hardest things on her body. Waiting any longer to have a kid and things may have turned out very badly. And honestly, as you get older…like, I’ve experienced being let go from work, being jobless, moving to new cities and across the country, death of friends and family - a lot of life’s ups and downs and I am so happy to have had the support of my wife through those experiences. The longer you live alone, the more you do alone, and that’s kinda sad. Wishing you all luck in finding someone to experience life with.

100% spot on. I am a 34 year old woman and I attest that I’ve felt the anxiety about each of her points. Especially as a Millennial, we had the same expectations of success and the same timeline put on us by our parents, grandparents, and family, but without society’s economic support or opportunities. I’m referring to LACK OF affordable education, job of security/unions, affordable healthcare, childcare, reliable Social Security…etc.

I just finished my education with 31 and after that started building up my career. With 35 I was just ready to think about getting children with my girlfriend who is 4 years younger than me. The problem is that in Western countries you have to invest a lot of more time in education and work to just keep the living standard of your parents generation. That's why many young people start a family late or not at all.

And funny thing is, that when you are in your mid 50s, you look back and think...dang, why was I so stressed about these things. I was literally a baby

There may be social pressures that people feel you must live up to, but mass consensus tends to have lots of strange illogical fun bits to it. What matters is your own contentment with where you're at in life. This can mean health, finances, career, relationships, goals, etc. If you're not happy, then take steps to remedy the discontent and keep moving forward. If it's only stressful because of an imaginary time limit, then fretting is wholly unnecessary. Some things, like the beauty of youth, will fade no matter what you do. It is difficult to lose it if you care about it, but it's better to develop and age with dignity and acceptance. You'll look a lot better adapting your style and demeanor in real time rather than attempting to cling to something long past. Everybody's path is different, and personally, as someone coming up on 30, I'm astounded that if I take good care of myself, I my life isn't even close to halfway over yet. There's still so much to see, and I feel more confident and wise in navigating life than I ever have before.

I didn’t experience any of this. The one difference to me was that I suddenly thought of early 20’s people as basically kids when I used to think of them as younger peers. That change in perpective blew my mind.

You have nothing to be stressed about. You will never be poor or homeless or hungry. You basically have no real problems. I am a homeless single mother who works full time and cannot afford a home. You will never know fighting to survive. You are a lucky one!

Nahh thats your body clock that says that, youve chosen to ignore it thinking youre based and outside societal norms but its not conditioning, the conditioning is agism.

I really don’t think she has too much to worry about. But as a 50 year old speaking about someone turning 30 I know that that is not for me to say.

People make a fuss because if you haven't started creating a family by 30, then you will not be in your youth anymore. It's still doable but it's going to be more challenging. This isn't dress rehearsal, this is your life, live it or watch others live it, make your choice.

Turning 30 felt the same as all the last ten of my birthdays before that. It literally doesn't matter when you're an adult. You don't become anything new once you're over 18 you just keep being you.

As someone who is now 40, the reason you freak out at 30 is because your fertility is dropping like a rock from that age and the risk of birth defects is going up, up, up. If you're still single at 30, the odds of your being sing at 40 is only going up, up, up. Ask me how I know these things. Not many people want to get frisky with the elderly.

I’m 45 not married and don’t have kids, all through my 20s and 30s people were like, when are you having kids. I’d give them a look. It’s really none of their business. It’s between me and whoever I’m in a relationship with an no one else. I’m 45 now so people have taken the hint and stopped asking 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽…. I’m 33 and I did feel that a bit but I just make the best of each day. Not everyone will go down the same path as others so I don’t worry about it too much I make my life the best I can and I don’t stress over it.

The point is people need to realise that not all life’s will go the same way, not all of us will have someone on our side, children , a stable job and so on.. it’s not meant for all of us. For a reason or another you maybe won’t have those things, but being anxious about it (I’m young (24) , still even I feel it sometimes cause I’m an overthinker , I’m not better than anyone else but I know I’m stating facts here) won’t change where you are or who you are. Life can change always. It can become everything it wasn’t in a second, so you don’t know if , how or when its gonna happen. And if it doesn’t happen life isn’t only about that, it’s a part of it. Sure I’m not gonna lie, having a family and financial stability will make your life easier maybe even better but that doesn’t make you or your life less worthy , lovable or respectable. Tragic isn’t to get old and/or not have those things , tragic is to not value what you have and who you are in the present moment (no matter what or how much it is). As someone who is turning 30, I rushed so many of the life "markers" because I thought I had too and I'm extremely unhappy. Don't rush things for the sake of how it will look to others. Enjoy your life and your youth!

I loved turning 30. I loved turning 40. 50 on the horizon is bringing up a little anxiety at the thought of how quickly life passes by. It’s all a bit of an adventure really, but I think the most important thing is to listen to what you want to do and not what is expected of you.

The body clock is ticking. The body clock will do what the body clock will do. This is a fact of life. This is the basis of the pressure. It has nothing to do with politics.
